Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
Deputies responded to the residence but were unable to locate the subject.
Further investigation revealed that the male had contacted friends threatening to take his own life with a firearm. Deputies were later able to locate the subject’s vehicle at the Lakeland Place Memorial Cemetery on Lakeland Drive.
As deputies attempted to check the welfare of the suicidal subject they confirmed he was armed and standoff ensued.
After extensive negotiations with the suicidal male he fired a single shot into his own torso. Medical personnel arrived on scene and began treating the subject who was later transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
For purposes of transparency, Sheriff Bailey has requested that the MS Bureau of Investigation take over the scene in order to conduct a subsequent investigation of this incident.

This was a feminine cry for help. Men don’t end it this way. When a man decides his time has come, he wraps everything up quietly, spends a last day with his people. Then he goes off somewhere to get the job done uninterrupted. Only someone who is truly not ready tells everyone for attention and hopes that somebody stops them.
You are disgusting.
@9:53pm - TF is wrong with you
So, 9:53. Are you saying that it is feminine for a man to cry out for help if they are having a mental episode or mental issues that make them think about taking their own life ?? There are lots of Military Veterans who fought in Afghanistan and Iraq, who acted bravely and with honor when their Generals told them to kill, destroy, and annihilate the so called " enemies of the United States." It is not until they return home that the things they were ordered to do
start haunting them, and the nightmares and horrific visions will not go away.
So much so, that they start thinking about taking their own life , as so many of them already have. If they call the V.A., or some of their war buddies and reach out for help, then would you also label this as a " feminine cry for help " ? It just sounds to me like you are trying to say something like, only real men will kill themselves, alone, without telling anyone, and a feminine guy will tell people what they are thinking about doing, in the hopes that someone will intervene and stop them. Mental Moments, Depression, Severe P.T.S.D. from War, there are those who are smart enough to cry out for help, and there are those who are not. But I do not think defining a cry for help should be defined as Feminine.
9:53, The guy shot himself.
I’m sure he’s sorry it didn’t meet your definition of masculine suicide.
You are a dick
Thanks Dr. Freud.
Hope the young guy pulls through, really terrible. Suicide is so very painful. Especially for the loved ones left behind.
he gave himsef a non-fatal wound
I think what he was referring to is the fact that, statistically, men shoot themselves in the head while women typically don’t. It’s rare for a man to shoot himself in the torso as a form of suicide. Not defending the comment, but it’s my interpretation
Kingfish probably revels in this. He’s a sick man who can’t stand good things. No wonder he loves Trump.
People who are really suicidal don’t tell people and then shoot themselves in the torso lol. Just some he just wanted attention. Smh
dial 988 if you are suicidal - the people that answer the phone will listen to you and talk about anything
9:53 pm I am a 30 plus year military retiree. When I read your post I cried! I know thats not what you meant!
The past two years I went to the VA in Jackson in for mental health issues and literally cried every time I talked to my provider!
Again Im sure thats not what you meant!
Somewhat disturbing that someone as deranged as 9:53 lurks among us.
The closet female at 9:53 needs as much help as the guy who shot himself.
We'll never know exactly what he wanted, but we know he didn't want to kill himself.
09:53 is correct unfortunately. I wouldn’t call it feminine, more of a cry for help/attention. It’s like saying across the street for attention, up the street for results with a blade. Yes, I’ve known several people the took their lives (military) and they were the quiet ones, the vocals ones were usually scammers or wanted attention.
I wish I was as omnipotent as the many commenters on here. The man was very stressed, cried out for help, and had police surrounding him. It may have been an accidental discharge. It may have been on purpose. We weren’t there. We won’t ever know. But here with are with all the internet experts and internet lawyers and internet counselors telling us what it is….
@1:35 It hink you meant to say “omniscient”
Not defending the comment, but it’s my interpretation.
What a stretch. I'm guessing you are @9:53.
He was at a cemetery. Perhaps a loved one had been buried there. Whatever his burden, I hope he gets the help he needs. And 8:54 offers good advice.
