The Capitol Police issued the following statement.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., Capitol Police responded to a call regarding a shooting near the Jackson State University stadium in the tailgate area. One juvenile was shot in the abdomen and transported to a nearby hospital. No arrest has been made at this time. Additional updates may be provided when available. This is an open and active investigation, no further comment will be made. Alcorn State University issued the following statement.A shooting has been reported on campus. If you are on campus, seek shelter immediately. Do not leave your secure location until given an all clear by Campus Police.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation issued the following statement.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) has been requested to
investigate a shooting that occurred at Alcorn State University.
At
approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding a shots
fired in the area of the Industrial Technology Building on Alcorn State
campus. Upon arrival, officers discovered three individuals suffering
from apparent gunshot wounds. At least one individual received fatal
injuries. No arrest has been made at this time.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact MBI at MBITIPS@dps.ms.gov.

I have with American media. It was “near” the tailgating area. Dig deeper and you’ll find that this had nothing to do with JSU homecoming and tailgating.
