Rudy Warnock attempted to commit suicide after a jury convicted him on multiple counts of public corruption.
Warnock was driving on I-20 (mile marker 71) when he crashed his Ford F-150 truck. Someone called 911 at 3:30 today. Witnesses stopped to check on him. When they did so, Warnock slashed his neck and wrists. Pelahatchie police are working the scene.
An ambulance took him to UMC. A law enforcement source said U.S. Marshals were en route to the hospital.
Warnock faces up to 20 years in prison for wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit bribery.
Stay tuned for more information.

Damn…just damn
oh my word. I didn't see that coming.
Further proof he's been postponing the inevitable. They knew it all along and he wasn't man enough to stand up and take his punishment.
What a SCUMBAG!! He played the game, got caught, and tries to off himself?? Has his family not been through enough? And gonna leave three kids doing it? F&ck him. What a shame.
Further proof he's a sad weak man.
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
I came close to posting this possibility when this blog released the verdict.
He needs to be someplace where folks can keep an eye on him.
I think his bond will be revoked
So, if “a jury convicted him on multiple counts of public corruption,” why was his sorry ass not in jail? We commoners would be, wouldn’t we?
Any chance that convict Rudy Warnock’s previous dealings with the Madison County Board of STupervisors might lead to additional prosecutions?
And why does the pic of Rudy, Espy and their wives dressed like gangsters…keep popping into my mind’s eye?
Madison County has been highjacked by corrupt Democrats; what a _______ shame.
This is sad. I happened to be around him one time maybe 3 or 4 years ago. He was ebullient and friendly and picked up the liquor tab.
That's sad. It's never too late to turn one's life around, no matter what a person has done.
I know a number of people shaking in their boots. Especially a family member from an Ex Madison county sheriff years ago.
You are correct. Sad and WEAK but definitely not a man.
He could get his bond revoked.
He's not in a position to make money for them, anymore. This is Mississippi, where daddies are considered to be ONLY good for getting-money-out-of. Ever hear your grandmother saying, "He was NO GOOD."? Well, that's what THAT means. In Mississippi, most grandmothers, regardless of race, class, or religion, have said it. And that's what they meant. "He was a good man", means he died with a big insurance policy (but he's out of maw maw's hair, now).
Having HIM as "uh duaaayuiiiiiid" (I'm attempting the North Madison County White Trash pronunciation, here, but need London's Professor Henry Higgins to help me chart all those vowel sounds), will only cost them embarrassment and MONEY, at this point.
He's trying to SPARE THEM dealing with the incessant calls from prison extortionists.
Did Rudy "Slash" himself while he was driving? If so, no wonder he wrecked his truck...

More Deets
Is anyone really surprised here? Rudy is doing exactly what Rudy wants to do, when he wants to do it. He always has. Hate all this for his kids, his family who is trying to do right and be good. They sure didn't ask to be caught up in all of this or loss of a dad, no matter how we feel about Rudy.
And he endangered all the other drivers on the road when doing this. Can't he just go out into a field in the middle of nowhere and blow his brains out like a respectable person.
Classic toxic narcissist response to his reckoning for years of criminality. He is and always has been a punk.
He could if he had an ounce of respect for anyone else. Look up "narcissist."
Was thinking the same thing. Aren't there easier ways to do that and not tie up traffic and endanger innocent people's lives in the process. Only a narcissist who behave in such a manner.
He will likely be remanded into custody pending sentencing.
No matter how we feel, Rudy is a redeemable human being and I will pray for him and his family. Now he certainly has to pay for his crimes, as he should, but I take no joy in this turn of events.
@5:32 - what political office did or do you hold?
He has 5 kids for the record… not 3.
Narcissists don't attempt suicide - it's tantamount to guilt which they can't feel.
State law requires ppl convicted of a crime to be taken into custody. In federal court, sentencing is set no sooner than 60 days. Commoner or not.
Weak- Real weak
So, did he escape custody or bond out?
He was free on bond til sentencing, which is standard federal procedure.
Guess it’s too late to rollover on those 3 Madison county supervisors. Imagine how much more bribing he did while county engineer!!! CMU was less than a year!
He failed at suicide. Geez
Mighty WEAK Attempt at Suicide as Reported, ran into the Median then got out attempting to cut his wrist or throat. Chicken Sh-- at the least. Lock him up= Make him serve some time-
I'm so sorry for his Children but he's had this coming for 20 Years, do your time -
Mary maybe queen of the city but Karl is King of the county.
Too bad the worthless fucker didn’t succeed. Now we will have to pay for his medical bills, Whitfield confinement , and eventual incarceration. Do it right asshole if you gonna kill yourself.
No human being is worthless and there is hope in even the most hopeless situation so long as we have breath in our lungs. I’m glad the attempt failed and hope to see this man redeemed.
Clearly, some of the people who have been following this case are way past a desire for justice.
Some of y'all have real issues of your own to work on.
He didn’t want to die! He just wants a hospital ward. He could have used a gun.
Collette is 0-12🥴
The peanut gallery doesn't realize the federal statutes of limitations have run out on whatever Rudy did in Canton. No reason they would have been tolled for anyone else to my knowledge.
Chokwe hypothetically could find it's a different situation for him. And any of his hypoththetical co-conspirators.
Especially if the feds think they can charge a different conspiracy and most particularily if anyone involved did any anything to destroy evidence before leaving office. Last overt act of the conspiracy clock resets!
For real, why do these wealthy people keep hiring Collette? He must’ve won some at some point or he promises to visit them in the pen, if the wives run off with another.
poor ole rotten rudy..........................he coulda hopped a plane to brazil.
Rudy Warnock is to civil engineering what Hugh Freeze is to college football. He learned “the game” from the best, then took it way, way, WAY too far. Classic narcissist. Hopefully, there is repentance and redemption. However, in the meantime, he will be the warning & the example that is preached to all young, ambitious engineers. Perhaps, Tom Rice could co-write & produce a made-for-cable mini series with scriptwriting collaboration with Grisham. “The Engineer” Leonardo could dye his hair black, get a perm & portray Rudy. I picture Wesley Snipes as Mike Espy, since Snipes did time in Yazoo Federal Pen for tax evasion. I need to figure out how to incorporate cameo appearances from Austin & Claiborne. Hmmm.
What a great day! Now if the feds would investigate further back and bring his three amigos to justice life would be about perfect!
neither did rotten rudy.
Too bad Elmore Leonard isn't still around to write this.
I know Rudy Warnock and Hugh Freeze both very well. I have the cell phone numbers of both. Rudy is a crook and a con artist. He deserves what punishment he gets. But honestly as bad as Rudy is , I’m not sure he is as crooked and cocky as Freeze. Hugh might be the dirtiest coach college football has ever seen. There are far more NCAA violations than what he was charged with. Of course, Rudy has bribed far more folks than the ones in this trial. Ole Miss is lucky they got off so lightly. Only about 1% of the stuff came to light. But Rudy and Hugh both think they are the victim.
9:04 said it best.
He has won several times in the past, and he has also worked out some good plea deals. The problem is when one has a client that will not take your advice, or a prosecutor that will not offer a reasonable plea deal, they are left with having to try the case. And winning a criminal case as a defendant, especially in federal court, is very difficult. I personally believe that a criminal defendant has to prove their innocence to the jury in spite of what the law says.
Be interesting to find out what went on with Rudy and the Madison County Board of supervisors years ago.
9:15 PM, actions have reactions. It’s a law of nature not understood or taught much these days.
People are sick of having the cities and counties they live in destroyed by greedy politicians, and their buddies like Warnock that got rich off of scamming the electorate.
Not that long ago, Madison County was a great place to be. But, between the former supervisor trio Karl Banks, Paul Griffin & Tim Johnson, the recent trio Karl Banks, Paul Griffin & Gerald Steen, and Canton Municipal Utilities (CMU), the writing for Madison County is all over the wall. They’re all Democrats, and one only needs to look a little south to see what happens when Democrats take over.
Sewage running into a lake where children swim (over and over and over), roads that are an embarrassment, promotions to incompetents and Nepo babies. They will tell you: “we only have this much budgeted for part of your crumbling road,” while millions were spent on a lake in the middle of nowhere Madison County, and on an airport “study.”
Similar to Dicky Scruggs with the Mississippi so-called justice system, and Chokwe with the city of Jackson, now Rudy Warnock has paved the educational way on how NOT to do it in Madison County. But scamming the public will continue, just without the recklessness.
P.S. We need to educate everyone that Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee is the only reason turncoat to a Democrat Gerald Steen stays in office, and the IDIOT Republicans that threw Republican David Bishop out of office (because they wanted “to be the last one’s in”) are THE TWO REASONS the Democrat Party cancer is destroying Madison County.
I've worked at Keisler AFB and seen "Club Fed". I expect that I could manage to serve my time there. OTOH, I took a tour of a Parchman when I was young. Given the opportunity, I would absolutely commit suicide before serving time there. Not even a question. Let my fam collect the life insurance and move on with their lives.
The state board of engineering has the authority and the rule to discipline - including termination of licenses - engineers for the mere appearance of impropriety or unethical behavior. Had they done that years ago, we wouldn't be here now.
Oh look. Another weak deplorable Republican trying to take the easy way out after spending other people’s hard earned money. The party of the crooked, lying, cheating “Christian” rears its ugly head once again.
What Rugy was indicticted for and convicted of was the tip of the Iceburg
@1022. Oh great law wizard, tell us how he got convicted if the Statutes of Limitations has run out?
@8:37, Um… Rudy ran as a Democrat when he ran for Transportation Commissioner.
Come on, you know some of the best lawyers are on these forums.
8:58 federal prosecutors make targets sign extensions / waiver of SOL defenses to keep cases open. Happens all the time.
8:14 nailed it
Rudy assumed a democrat had the best chance of winning that district. He isn't loyal to any party...just his own selfish desires
One CMU commissioner committed suicide when the investigation began.
I had no idea that this man was so disliked.
I don't know Rudy but in my life experience, people who actually work to earn income generally don't champion and defend people who steal.
@9:57 If you ever met him, or had dealings with him, you would understand. He had zero ability to do engineering or business in a proper, legal, or ethical manner. He oozed arrogance and shadiness. Within 60 seconds of meeting him, you would think "this guy is a sleazebag".
The statute of limitations was never a problem
In this case
Are you 8:14, because I can't imagine anyone else took the time to read such a long ranting post.
honestly, i would never have the guts to kill myself. very few do. absolutely do not wish this for anyone though.
There's a thing called "unmasking of a narcissist". When a narc is exposed for what he is or has done and can no longer lie or gaslight his way out of the situation, they often attempt suicide. Their fragile little egos cannot handle the fact that the whole world knows what they did and that they are frauds.
I’m pretty sure suicide doesn’t take guts. Suicide is a coward’s way to prevent having to deal with life.
I was taught as a small child that people who kill themselves intentionally, go straight to hell. That made me really think about how to deal with bad decisions and to know that I could either fix whatever I screwed up or simply don’t do it again. I often wonder if some people are born without a conscience.
Rudy doesn’t have a conscience or if he does, he doesn’t understand how to deal with it.
Come to think of it, I know quite a few people who struggle being morally functioning human beings.
Thank you. I agree.
