The Jackson Police Department issued the following statement.
Kingfish note: Owner of Shell station on McDowell Road (across from Walgreens) and his nephew were killed.

According to some definitions of mass shootings, 5 people being shot is a mass shooting. FBI defines it as 5 people killed. Either way, there is no way this makes national media.
Just another scary day for the citizens of Jackson under C.A.L.
"...distinguished by tinted windows on all sides".
It would actually be distinguishable, in Jackson, if it did NOT have dark, tinted windows.
Finding the car will not be hard, even for the JPD - just wait for the JFD to call them to the scene of the fire.
Used to be referred to as the “Jr”, or “Jr Food Mart”. Anybody else remember the guys that could go in there with 2 quarters and could literally play the arcade games all afternoon long on those two quarters? They would just sit there and either play the machine or wait on someone to challenge them in Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, and never lose. We weren’t scared back then, had no reason to be. Hate to hear about the owners getting killed. I’m sure they were hard workers.
I think tinted car windows should be outlawed in MS, or at least in the metro area.
Knowing that the rear window tint is damaged, likely due to a poor installation, will surely bring about an immediate arrest.
Were the wipers poorly installed also? That would help.
8:21 I wish I had half the money back I spent on Street Fighter 2 at that Jr. Food Mart.
‘Bout time for another march and a balloon release, looks like.
"I think tinted car windows should be outlawed in MS, or at least in the metro area."
Pay attention! It's been (supposedly) 'regulated' by law passed by our legislature for years. It's just not enforced, except in rare instances. Cops in Jackson know better than to write a ticket for this in Jackson, MS.
These clowns with black windows have got to be nervous cruising around in Madison or most of Rankin County.
When the residents end up having to go 5 miles to get food or gas they are going to cry racism instead of reflecting on why nobody wants to do business with them or locate a business in their area.
I sense another "food desert" race card being bloviated by the local racist progressives.
Keep voting for Chowke, you ignorant fools.
These events used to incite me to no end. The mere thought of a drive-by shooting was unconscionable in my beloved city.
But like life, nothing stays the same and now the most violent culture in my lifetime runs rampant killing, maiming, stealing and destroying what's left of all of our cities.
As I grow older all that I have left of Jackson MS are the memories of a special time that is long gone.
Is Derrick Coleman, the dead guy, the same one whose wife has been missing for years?
Local news channels focused more on the Breaking News of yet another vacant house fire in Jackson this morning.
As 9:55 stated, we are all just numb to this and it is barely a blip on the radar in Jackson.
It makes me sad that so few are outraged by the endless slaughter of black men.
Unless of course the murderer is white. These young men deserved a better upbringing and they deserved to be taught to work hard and have morals but baby mommas and ghost sperm donors cannot be bothered and blame racism instead.
@9:55 AM says, "The mere thought of a drive-by shooting was unconscionable in my beloved city."
9:55, regrettably, perhaps, but it is not your city anymore, and it hasn't been for quite some time now. And it's not going to be your city again, not ever, for Jackson is lost.
"These clowns with black windows have got to be nervous cruising around in Madison or most of Rankin County." Not stopped or ticketed as one would expect in Rankin/Madison County.
How about the fact that there is a vacant space where the license plate should be?? I fail to understand why every car with a missing license plate/ or car lot "tag" is not immediately pulled over, and if reasoning for the lack thereof the car should be immediately impounded.
I live in Jackson but buy my gasoline in Pearl and Richland, and sometimes at the Highland Village Chevron, where the fuel is expensive, but the attendants and mechanics are all armed.
I feel so safe with the JPD at briarwood an meadowbrook on I55 everyday. Thanks chaulkline!
