Flowood police arrested Mardis for aggravated domestic violence on October 7, 2022 after he allegedly beat his wife on October 4. Mrs. Mardis suffered a lacerated liver, fractured wrist, fractured cheekbone, fractured ankle, two broken ribs, strangulation marks, widespread bruising, and patches of hair torn completely from her scalp. A home security camera showed him dragging an unconscious Kim Mardis by her hair across the driveway and through the flower beds into the home. He did not take her to the hospital that night but instead flew to Tampa with another woman the next morning. He was arrested at the Jackson airport when he returned.
The District Attorney as well as law enforcement sources said it was the worst domestic violence case they had ever seen.
Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow set his bond at $750,000 and issued a no-contact order between Todd Mardis and his wife. Judge Morrow revoked the his bond in April after Mardis violated the no-contact order.
When the offense is committed against a current or former spouse of the defendant or a child of that person, a person living as a spouse or who formerly lived as a spouse with the defendant or a child of that person, a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild or someone similarly situated to the defendant, a person who has a current or former dating relationship with the defendant, or a person with whom the defendant has had a biological or legally adopted child, a person is guilty of aggravated domestic violence who:
- Attempts to cause serious bodily injury to another, or causes such an injury purposely, knowingly or recklessly under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life;

- Strangles, or attempts to strangle another.
Upon conviction, the defendant shall be punished by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections for not less than two (2) nor more than twenty (20) years.
The following shall be classified as crimes of violence: (c) Aggravated assault as provided in Sections 97-3-7(2) (a) and (b) and 97-3-7(4) (a);Aggravated domestic violence is included in this section's list of violent crimes. Subsection 2 states:
In any felony offense with a maximum sentence of no less than five (5) years, upon conviction, the judge may find and place in the sentencing order, on the record in open court, that the offense, while not listed in subsection (1) of this section, shall be classified as a crime of violence if the facts show that the defendant used physical force, or made a credible attempt or threat of physical force against another person as part of the criminal act. No person convicted of a crime of violence listed in this section is eligible for parole or for early release from the custody of the Department of Corrections until the person has served at least fifty percent (50%) of the sentence imposed by the court.

for all of you that will say 10 years is not enough I agree, but.....10 years in jail for a priveledged rich (or used to be) guy is a sentence that would scare me to the bone if I was him. His life will never be the same again, rightfully so.
He needs the maximum along with a prohibition of using tanning beds and injecting steroids.
Well lots of posters in previous posts indicated how much this dude likes to fight. Looks like he s gonna have his time to shine for a few years!!! A group of crips prob aren't gonna be as easy as 150 pound guy who owns a limo service though, OR 115 pound girl
Will she make a Victim Impact statement prior to sentence. Still not seeing him getting the max but less than. Unfortunately it seems that it isn't just the Parole Board loves wife beaters but many county court systems do as well.
Rich guys that own private jets don't go to prison in Mississippi.
Judge Ratcliff is a strait-forward and tough Judge on crime. I think he will give Mardis more than than 10 Years. This woman could have easily died from these injuries and Mardis just left her in that condition without even calling for help and flew away with another woman to leave his children to deal with this terribly injured lady. I can't say enough bad things about what he did that night. I feel sorry for the family.
Praying for Todd and family. He made a mistake and now his family will suffer emotionally and financially. Thanks for beating the drum on this and stoking the yokel outrage on this one KF.
Todd is a badass & could kick all our asses in 3.2.1...
He won't come out better than going into prison. Any man does a woman that way is a rotted thug with a hole for a conscience.
Life isn't long enough.
11:30, making a mistake is forgetting to buy eggs at the grocery store. He didn't momentarily lose control and strike her once in a fit of rage. He willfully, intentionally, and repeatedly beat her, and then demonstrated zero remorse in the aftermath.
This guy is a jerk. However in fairness, he should be sentenced according to consistent guidelines. If the usual sentence for a crime like this is 10 years, then give him 10 years. But he shouldn't have time added for being a turd.
Rich guys that own planes don't go to prison in Mississippi? Dickie Scruggs and Joey Langston might disagree.
How well is Todd doing physically and mentally while being forced to stop his steroid use? Has his physique changed?
'roid rage, it's a Rankin thing.
It took him a hot minute to get it through his head he is NOT above the law because he thinks he looks good and has money. You know, he regrets his dumb decision to (1) beat her; and then (2) not abide by the no-contact ruling. I can only laugh at his ignorance!
He should be forced to take estrogen on the daily.
His family can apply for welfare and go to counseling just like any other family whose father is a convict. It is natural to have bias in favor of someone you know, but a bully of his character will continue to be a bully and in his case, make a fatal mistake, if given leniency. Judge Ratliff is an elected judge and there are enough sophisticated people who dislike this defendant, to cause Ratliff to lose the next election, if a substantial and meaningful sentence isn’t handed down. Ratliff may not even care about being re-elected, but I feel like he will do what is right.
He’s done his time. Only hurt the family now.
Um, yeah.
If it was a black thug in Jackson who beat a woman like this, I bet you'd recommend the same sentence.
@11:33 beat me to it! Lol
Another 5 tacked on for taking Steroids
He’s done his time. Only hurt the family now.
His family can sell his private jet and cut some corners to get by. Could already be saving big money as he doesn't need any esthetician and hair styling appointments.
He doesn’t own a private jet ding dongs. It was a rental
May I point-out a few things? Mardis' ruddy complexion could be from a combination of sun damage and consumption of alcohol. I don't see "tanning bed", where he's concerned.
While his enviable facial structure says "HGH", to me, that could have happened when he was in high school or college. Coaches used to push the stuff on athletes.
As for his muscularity, it is completely possible for a man of his age to maintain a body like that, simply by regularly lifting weights - particularly if he's maintaining a foundation laid during adolescence- something which would be consistent with his athletic career. Maybe some of you-all should have tried that, before it became too late.
It puzzles me that the focus, here, is on blame and primitive sentiments, rather than upon the conditions which led to the violent event. Booze would be the most obvious thing. And what other substances were in-play? Instead of bitter snarks against a guy with whom most of you gelatinous zhlubs would never stand a chance of being "a good hunting camp buddy", maybe those posting here should, instead, be debating the question: WHY IS DRINKING STILL A SOCIALLY-SANCTIONED ACTIVITY?
How many booze-fueled tragedies will it take?
Queue the “all you beta soyboys don’t even beat your own wives” commentators
I hope the judge throws the book at him.
Flowood HR needs to look at all departments and do some background checks on city employees. I think they would be shocked as to who they have employed who have been charged and have records. Guess they are waiting for a huge PR problem
If he gets 10 it would be awesome. I highly doubt it though. He more than deserves at least 10 yrs or more. Due to his lawyer and the fact that the wife is still brainwashed and trying to defend him, I’m thinkin more around 2-5 to serve. Really hope I’m wrong.
G.
Thank you, Kingfish, for making me read so far down to learn this, "50% of a 20 year sentence is 10 years."
It’s really sick how KF and his bootlickers celebrating the guy’s demise. None of yall have concern for how this effects his family and there wellbeing. Todd messed up and deserves punishment. His and family life is already ruined yet the idiots on here not satisfied till he is killed in prison. Y’all should be ashamed.
lol all yall beta cucks wouldn’t be talkin smack if you were standing next to Todd and you know it.
@ 4:06 - "Messed up"? Getting to the point of beating your wife and leaving her for dead is not messing up. If you know anything about abuse, it starts with verbal and emotional abuse and there is usually financial abuse thrown in there too. The abuser gets his (or her in some cases) to the point of zero self worth and doubting her (his) reality. They become isolated from friends and family and then the hitting starts. It's not an "I got drunk and decided to hit my wife tonight" situation. It's years of treating of her like she's worthless.
From: an ex-wife who got out after the second shove.
4:12 I have not commented on Todd but your “Beta” smack shows that you think he is a “bad ass” and you seem to look up to a wife beater. Most people here could give a rats ass if someone is a “ bad ass” as you say. But a wife beater puts this prick in a different category. He may be bad but he is ruined, in jail and will have plenty of time to show how bad he is. But he is just a bad ass wife beater. Nothing more. Quit looking up to him, unless you are the same.
Didn't Mardis play football?
CTE is a thing.
Let's see. why would this website watch this case so much. Maybe because the brutality brings to mind the Heather Spencer case. Maybe because there are similar cases where funny business takes place.
The Clark case in Columbus. remember that one? Split his wife's head open. Case just kept getting continued and continued and continued until this website showed up and started covering it. The parole board granted early release after only 18 months.
Remember Sheldon Alston? Sweet deal in that district. Creekmore let him plea and only get three years, took kidnapping off the table. Dude only had to serve 18 months before he got home in time for Christmas. Remember the pictures JJ posted of the victim? Yeah.
So if you ask why JJ is covering this case, that's why. Haven't seen this case much in the media, have you? Perhaps you should ask why.
If he get's 10, half will be suspended, based on getting counseling, victim's wishes, etc. He'll get credit for time served and do at most three years. Likely all in county jail, he's too pretty for prison.
Kingfish, the big difference is Kim is a successful 50+ year old wife, mother, grandmother and business woman. She's been married to the same man for 30 years. Kim is not some kid with no life experience. Her wishes should have a lot of impact on the sentence. They have been married for 30 years and there's no indication anything like this has happened before or is a common occurrence.
@7:58 p.m. "...there's no indication anything like this has happened before..." are you kidding me? He almost beat her to death. This wasn't a one-time occurrence. As you pointed out, they've been married for 30 years. The first time was likely a shove, or a slap, or a grab so hard it left bruises. Then it escalated every time after that. He has her brainwashed - by the money, pleas for their "family" or somehow making her think she started it; it's her fault. No, she's not some kid with no life experience. She's likely suffered decades of verbal, mental and physical abuse.
@7:58PM
I agree Todd needs a break.
It's definitely his turn for a break.
He already gave his wife some breaks.
So according to reports, it's alleged that his wife got no less than five breaks along with some other significant injuries.
It's really about time for him to get a break or two.
Mardis probably deserved a break when he decided to violate the terms of his bond, by violating the no contact order. Too bad he was apparently already infamous enough that he was recognized and the victim was identified as his dinner date.
Nothing says "there's no indication anything like this has happened before" like a second alleged crime committed while out on bond for the first alleged crime.
It would have been a break if he got away with that. I mean, if he did happen to violate that no contact order with the victim on a previous occasion (or maybe there is no indication that happened before either!) then he must have caught a break.
Oh whoops!
" Recorded phone calls at the Rankin County jail showed Mardis passing messages to his wife through their daughter." http://kingfish1935.blogspot.com/2023/10/mardis-pleads-guilty.html
Nothing says the prosecution has a weak case and I'm a bad ass like taking a guilty plea as a soy boi beta cuck would.
Nothing says 'with friends like these I am always with stupid' like apologizing and minimizing the crimes of a convicted domestic violence offender like some apparently do.
Imma tell you why we shine the light on this one, Todd Mardis beat his wife. Fuck that bitch of a man all day long. He is a mean prick and from all accounts a piece of shit who has skated by being an asshole to people. If KF did not shine the light then no one would. Say what you want about any commenter or KF but I am a man who does not want anyone to get by with this shit. Dogshit is better than Todd Mardis. Anyone still doing business with him should be ashamed.
To those who keep talking about his family’s wellbeing. I promise they’re better with him locked up. They don’t need him and y’all need to FUCK OFF. Talkin about beta cucks… what an idiot.
7:58 your ignorance is showing,it has happened many times. He would put her in a hotel and tell the children she was visiting her mom while the bruising healed, hospital records say differently also
>>> They have been married for 30 years and there's no indication anything like this has happened before or is a common occurrence. <<<
If she had died, would your excuse then be that it was the first time she died?
Some ministers regularly remind that there's an eternally warm place waiting for those who earn it.
Seems like you could be getting a good start putting in the necessary work.
What does the victim want should be the ONLY concern.
@January 5, 2024 at 5:18 AM — And when the victim gets on the stand and all but confirms she has been brainwashed by stating that the fight/beating was her fault? Thank goodness what he did is considered a crime and can be looked at and prosecuted without the victim’s consent. She wants him out — but he will get sentenced, hopefully long enough for her (and her likely also mentally abused family) to come out of the hold he has on her mentally that has had her accepting his treatment of her and their family.
@5:18AM....How moronic! Would you feel the same had his wife/victim died? That easily could have happened. My assumption is you're another jock sniffer of the spray tan chump.
Mardis has no one to blame for the situation he is in. He brought all this on himself with no one else to blame.
Now, if he's the man some of you think he is he will face the judge and take what ever punishment that is handed down to him like the man he perceives himself to be.
Do not know the guy and do not want to.
KF Thank you for sharing. I was on I55 the day George Bell was arrested & saw the swarm of police cars. Her death was more than a tragedy & just wish George Bell and/III or whatever his name is; Mother could have been prosecuted for not calling 911 which could have saved Heather’s life. As for Todd Mardis, take note of the Las Vegas judge attacked in her courtroom this week after the suspect with numerous DV charges stated calmly, Judge do what you have to do. She did so & he went crazy almost killing her & deputies. So, no, Todd deserves max as if a person will do this to a loved one/family member; then the public is not safe. End of story
Nothing would have saved her. Nothing. Won't go into the details but nothing would
This won’t be the last that you all will hear of this. I feel sad for his wife and family. In the end, does the quest for money and material things drive you to the depths of this or is this a mental issue? I think it’s both. That family seems like it has never known the true meaning of what a loving family can bring.Happiness is not about material wealth. You can live large and unhappy and believe me, I have seen so many people more miserable chasing the dollar than someone who hasn’t.
Kingfish did a good job on this. This happens many more times than it is ever known. It's past time what the victim wants. It's time for the law to be enforced. That's why the law is written the way it is. This Mardis guy is a clown living in his own clown world. He's every bit as scared right now as his wife was every time he raised his hand in anger at her. Come on Mr. Clown put on a happy face.
Wow, 50+ comments and boy he got some fanboys on here that love him. Sounds like they would drink his bath water
The true beating is what the DA has done to his family. Zero consideration for the Wife and Kids. None! True punishment for the innocent.
Domestic Abuse relationships are complicated. Complicated in the sense of the abuser, is a narcissist, and a manipulator. They some how flip the situation around and play the victim. The whole time blaming the victim for their actions. I am sure his wife has the trauma bond to her husband as well. He needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. His wife is blessed she did not die.
11:47 Instead of DA, go ahead use the words Dumb Ass, because Todd “Dumb Ass” Mardis has certainly considered what his family wants, only what he wants. You nailed it though. Most of the physical beatings are easier to overcome than the mental beatings. For a second, I thought you were attempting to blame a district attorney for doing its job.
I personally witnessed his wife with horrific swelling and bruising of her right cheek/curve of the ocular bone in addition to neck bruises. She was trying to cover all of her injuries under layers of makeup but the bruising and swelling was just undeniable. This was just a few months prior to the incident that he was arrested for. She even wore a thick long sleeved top on what was a relatively warm day. It was sad. I felt sorry for her, but I barely knew her and her husband. I struggled not to approach the subject with her. I wasn’t in a position to talk to her alone. I pray for her and her family. I wish I could have done more, as it has haunted me. I hope she and her children find good resources for healing from living with such trauma.andfind peace when this is all over. Heartbreaking.
For those that state this was Todd’s first time to abuse his wife….please explain what his daughters text to him that was shared by the DA’s office:
Dad, this time it’s really bad…..
I know Todd and he is a great father to his children and husband to Kimberly. She is willing to forgive him and who are we to say he should not be allowed to rejoin his family.
7:12
If Kim was dead I’m sure you and his family wouldn’t be say this.
The stench from Toad's defenders is overwhelming.
There's no lack of excuses offered, when in fact there isn't any excuse.
It's apparently quite possible that he's not exactly a first time abuser.
I wonder if he pled guilty to foreclose the judge finding out in court.
Either way, he apparently plead guilty, now he's probably hoping for lots of positive character statements and a short sentence.
One fact is probably apparent to all but his defenders:
NOW IT'S TIME TO LOCK HIS SORRY WIFE BEATING ASS UP.
No matter what his defenders or his family think.
"Judge Ratliff is an elected judge and there are enough sophisticated people who dislike this defendant, to cause Ratliff to lose the next election, if a substantial and meaningful sentence isn’t handed down. Ratliff may not even care about being re-elected, but I feel like he will do what is right."
Politics should never enter a court decision. That being said, these elected judges have no choice but to keep the future election consequences in the back of their minds at all times.
I'm sure Judge Ratliff knows that a light sentence in this case will resonate bigly with women in Madison and Rankin counties. The Republican women in both of those counties are highly organized and active. See: Jill Ford, Mary Hawkins, and Celeste Hurst. This could also escalate into some national attention.
This is an outrageous and horrific crime. It deserves a tough sentence. I'm confident that Judge Ratliff will ignore whatever is coming from Todd's legal team and sentence him to the most years he can legally administer.
Todd's legal team gets paid to defend him.
Even Ted Bundy and Timothy McVeigh were entitled to legal representation that's how the system works.
So what's the matter with all these other assholes that are doing it for free?
Will Todd’s sentence be known before the judge enters the court room? Will the DA bring in witnesses as well to really show his true character? Will Todd speak and show any remorse? Will his family speak to tell the judge how bad they need him financially?
As a public I would say most can forgive and forget but at this point until Todd and his family agree that he really has a problem put him away for everyone’s safety and well being!
Some of you commenters believing he needs leniency have lost your flipping minds. So what if his wife has forgiven him? He almost killed her. Ever heard of battered wife syndrome??? My faith in humanity in faultering do to people like you. He deserves punishment commensurate with his crime. Assault on a stranger would get him years behind bars. If he “loves” her, imagine what he might do to Joe Public whom he doesn’t. Psycho.
3:07
Time will tell
8:28
Well said
Does the judge get to watch the Security Cam video of the mistake?
I think the guilty plea was so the judge didn't get to see the security video of the mistake.
Or the other evidence of this and possibly previous mistakes.
Hello hospital records.
7:12 We must have a very different definition of "great father" and "great husband". Great dads and husbands don't nearly kill their wives or anybody else, for that matter. A great dad and husband would protect and defend them!
Hearing the sentencing will be Tuesday 1/30 @ 9am…anyone else know more?
