Jordan Cummins might be going back to jail. Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens filed a motion to revoke his bond after he allegedly violated his curfew and a no-contact order with a fellow defendant.
A Hinds County grand jury indicted Jordan Cummins for two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of Josh Spann and Auden "Jubilee" Simpkins on March 25, 2023. The homicides took place just a few blocks away from the St. Paddy's Day Parade.
Law enforcement sources said several people witnessed Cummins beating
his girlfriend in their vehicle parked near the intersection of
Jefferson and Amite Streets Saturday afternoon and tried to intervene.
Cummins allegedly shot Spann, who was trying to stop the assault. A
random bullet struck Simpkins, killing her as well. Cummins and his girlfriend fled the scene. The Florence resident surrendered later that afternoon to Rankin County deputies.
Hinds County Circuit Judge Faye Peterson set his bond at $500,000 ($250,000 per charge). Cummins posted bond and was released from jail per the usual conditions. The grand jury also indicted his girlfriend, Jenny Lukens, for hindering prosecution. Judge Peterson forbade the defendants from having any contact with each other even though they are involved in a romantic relationship.
Cummins apparently could not stay away from his girlfriend and repeatedly saw her. The families of one of the victims had hired a private investigator to watch Cummins. Cummins fell right into a trap of his own making. The motion to revoke states:
On December 27, 2023, the State was provided with an investigative report, documenting the comings and goings of Jordan Cummins from the period of December 19, 2023, through December 23, 2023. The report was prepared by Shadow Solutions, a private investigatory and security firm, owned and operated by certified law enforcement officers. Their services were independently secured by the family of a victim in the indicted offense, without direction by the State. The report is attached as Exhibit D. Investigators from Shadow Solutions are available to testify to the facts laid out in the report. 7. Over the five (5) day period in which the defendant was observed, he spent significant portions of every night at 201 Southgate Drive, Richland, MS 39218, the home of Jenny Lukens, while Lukens was also present at the home, in violation of this Court’s Order. On December 19, 2023, investigators surveilled Cummins as he left his place of employment and travelled to Lukens’s home. From 6:11 p.m. until investigators ended their watch at 9:57 p.m., Cummins was at the home of Jenny Lukens. Lukens’s vehicle, a dark in color Nissan Cube, bearing tag# RAR 4805, was also parked outside of the residence. A photo of Lukens’s vehicle is attached as Exhibit E. When investigators resumed their surveillance of Lukens’s home the following morning, December 20, 2023, defendant Cummins’s vehicle was still parked outside of the residence. They further documented that he exited the residence, entered his vehicle, and travelled to work from the Lukens residence at 7:38 a.m. Investigators followed Cummins’s vehicle, and surveilled him throughout the day, hotographing and recording Cummins and his vehicle in various locations. He ultimately returned to Lukens’s home at 6:39 p.m., and was still present at the home, when investigators ended their surveillance at 8:00 p.m. Photos depicting the above-described events are attached as Exhibit F. 8. When investigators resumed their surveillance of the Lukens residence the following morning, December 21, 2023, Cummins’s vehicle was, again, parked outside of the residence. Lukens vehicle was also parked outside of the residence. Investigators documented and observed as Jenny Lukens exited the residence at 7:55 a.m. and left in her vehicle. Cummins subsequently exited the Lukens residence at 9:12 a.m. and left in his vehicle.
The report documented more contact between Lukens and Cummins. The motion alleges Cummins repeatedly violated his 6 PM curfew. The District Attorney asked Judge Peterson to revoke Cummins' bond and place him back in the Raymond Detention Center.
Cummins is also under indictment for possessing contraband in the Raymond Detention Center. Earlier post.

"The families of one of the victims had hired a private investigator to watch Cummins." That was a brilliant move on their part.
So the Hinds County D.A.'s office has finally learned how to file for revocation.
That's progress.
There won't be too many DV apologists in this discussion, they're busy on the latest Todd Mardis post.
Also, LOCK HIS SORRY ASS UP.
This perp appears to be a slow learner, still trying to cipher what FAFO means.
Glad the victim's family was in a position to help be sure he gets taken to school.
Before too long this skidmark stain will be getting his learning at Parchman.
Did Spann brandish a firearm? Did his associates remove that evidence from the scene? Were there any cameras?
The problem is, you have Jody Owens as the DA on the case. Yall dont get upset when this kid gets found innocent and some how ends up getting $1 mil restitution from the city of Jackson in some legal loophole.
3:22 It's conceivable that the kid would be found innocent. It's inconceivable that he would receive money from Jackson.
This is good news all around. Lock him up.
Checkmate
Yes...there is that little matter of Spann being observed brandishing a firearm before succumbing to the impact of a subsequent projectile.
No need to try this case in a blog-arena; however, there's also need to try this case based on sketchy knowledge held by the usual lynch-mob that hangs out here.
PS: There is also no evidence of his having introduced the cell phone into the confines of the jail-house, or that he, in fact, was ever in possession of that cell phone.
He might be found not guilty of killing Spann (I'm sure he'll make a decent self defense case), but no way he'll get out of the manslaughter charge involving Simpkins, right?
12:51 - Who brandished the firearm first? Collateral damage is what it is. Try to catch up. If anything, that was unintended, accidental and non criminal.
Did police not interview the folks they were under the St Paddy’s day parade tent with this couple? He was screaming at his woman to give him his gun so he could kill someone. Then they were asked to leave the tent. He was trigger happy under the tent and 2 end up dead.” Coincidence”
