The Brandon Police Department provided more information about the murder of Madison Police Officer Randy Tyler:
JJ has been able to obtain more information about what took place on Terrapin Hill Road this morning:
* The suspect armed himself with a 9mm pistol and a .308 hunting rifle with a scope. Obviously he had plenty of ammo.
* The police used a drone and robot dog. The suspect managed to shoot or disable both devices.
* The 6 AM (estimate) shooting began after the police threw tear gas grenades into the home.
* The late officer was reportedly covered behind a box truck when he was struck. A source said Tyler was not participating in an assault as the suspect was "just firing off rounds" as one source said when the former chief fell. Another source said he was running away when a round struck him in the back. When he fell, Wilson saw he was down and shot him again.
* Wilson did not live at the home but apparently did not handle a recent breakup well. He is the nephew of a retired trooper.
* Various agencies were at the scene because Brandon police called for help on a radio channel dedicated to such requests.

Well done Kingfish. Thank You. That should answer many questions.
C'mon KF. You know the statement by Lumumba is complete BS. JPD didn't respond to the call for help.
Is it just a coincidence that the deceased shooter, Gabriel Matthew Wilson, allegedly "... broke into ..." this house that is titled in the names of a husband and wife with the same last name, Wilson? Has to be a connection between the decedent and the owners of the house.
When a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, partner etc displays any sign of violence...walk away and also report it to someone of authority.
Teach your kids to demand better from any romantic partner.
We cannot prevent all tragedy and domestic disputes, but parents can teach a kid they do not deserve this, should not tolerate this, and they should tell people when it is occuring.
I am thankful parents raised me to be self-sufficient and confident.
A class act statement from Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba. I’m not a fan at all, but the statement is class act!
4:27 While I do disagree with the Mayor on almost everything. His statement does not merit your attack. Thank you Mr. Mayor for your condolences.
Obviously it's too easy to play armchair quarterback here. That being said... why not wait it out? If the suspect is not being hostile, hasno hostages and you is surrounded, why force the issue with tear gas?
4:27, you do realize that elected officials in the metro will sometimes offer condolences even if -- gasp -- they're not directly involved, right?
@4:35p- No relation or family connection.
The ex-boyfriend (suspect) and the victim/child of homeowner/ex-girlfriend just happen to have the same last name.
@4:27, Give. It. A. Rest. You. Feckless. Troll.
@6:25, Lumumba. Anti-Police. Cesspool Mayor. Incompetent. FAILURE.
When a S. O. B. kills a well trained Police Dog, I don’t think he will be missed. R.I.P., police dog.
KF. Great reporting. @4:27 why did you even go there you worthless troll
Prayer for all police officers and their families
6:25... I feel most everybody agrees with 4:27.
Shockway has enough crime on his hands to spend time on a Madison incident.
An actual dog was not killed. It was a robot armed with a camera.
Excellent reporting, KF! We can always count on you to deliver FACTS. You’re a trusted news source. Keep up the hard work. Thank you.
Look at that list that assisted. That's fantastic. Bless all of those involved in this. Its sad that Jackson didn't respond to help.
5:30, if he was firing off a 308 I would assume it might be difficult to set up a safe perimeter where you could keep close enough tabs on him in a neighborhood so he doesn’t escape. That’s just speculation of course. Assume drones might could be used but sounds like he may have shot one down?
The always self-serving Lumumba exploits the news and local media for no reason other than his own personal puffery. Nobody in Mississippi law enforcement takes Jackson's little despot seriously.
Antar took the high road on this one. He could've went political with the jurisdiction squabble.
The high road? Seriously? ROFLMAO Chokwe Antar Lumumba has never taken the high road in his life. Jurisdictional squabble? What?????? Is he claiming that Crossgates is JAN property now? Get real.
4:27 Classless. That's what I call anyone who criticizes public officials FOR offering condolences on behalf of their constituents whoever they are. No matter how much you may disrespect or hate Jackson or it's mayor, we ALL should offer our unqualified respects at this time. Give it a Rest for a moment. RIP
