The city of Jackson issued the following statement.
Richard’s Disposal wants residents to know… they are experiencing temporary delays. Due to the recent storms, crews are running about a day behind on trash pickup. Despite the delays, please leave your trash at the curb. Crews will be through to pick it up.
Also, many areas remain unpassable or inaccessible, due to storm debris. We ask for patience as crews attempt to reach those areas. They are hoping to be back on schedule by the end of the week.
Richard’s is only picking up household trash. If you have large limbs or storm debris that needs to be removed, you are asked to call The City of Jackson’s Solid Waste Division at 601-960-1193. If you have hired a contractor to cut up trees, it is the responsibility of the contractor to remove that debris.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
Kingfish note: RD got mine yesterday although it was at 6 PM when it usually picks it up between 8:30 and 10:30.

I hope these delays won't negatively impact the IT data-base record keeping. If the delays do pose a problem for those doing the IT contract work, we're going to have another press conference, right.
No presser? Chok's slipping on his PR game.
Strange considering we got the same storms in Madison & I haven’t heard of any delays regarding trash pickup.
The multiple storms have caused hardships on many!
No garbage collection delays in MadCo or stankin. Hmmmmm.
No delays in Madison bc most of your neighborhoods where the houses are all the same color have any trees to blow down. Very weak on old trees! And shade! Sad!
Who cares about the Hollywood writers strike when one has
daily Jackson, Mississippi headlines to provide the funniest shit
on the planet.
Has the Pearl River flooded again? Locusts? Vast right-wing conspiracy? White flight? Racist republicans?
LOL!!! Just like a kid trying to get out of a chore...seek out those excuses instead of getting the job completed. This city has gone to absolute shit thanks to the baby mayor and those around him or those that support him. Pure ignorance.
WM didn't miss a beat in Rankin County. They probably could have helped-out the CoJ, if the rug hadn't been pulled out from under them in the contract negotiations.
When all else fails , blame it on the weather or racism.
They picked mine up around 6ish pm yesterday. True enough, they left the storm debris but I am rational enough to understand the workload on these guys. I'm fine with how they're handling things. These storms were nasty.
Blame it on the storm but not picking up storm debris. Pick one.
Lil Choke can't promptly remove downed trees and huge limbs to enable Entergy repairs or trash pickup across the city, so puts out bs spin:
"Also, many areas remain unpassable or inaccessible, due to storm debris. We ask for patience as crews attempt to reach those areas."
Must be Omari writing the propaganda because "unpassable" is more properly "impassable".
Any excuse will do. Why were they delayed the week before the storms? Scrambling picking up trash on a freaking Sunday morning. I guarantee trash days aren't being skipped in Eastover
