Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba is holding a press conference right now. The press is streamed below.
* Mayor said charging/cooling stations are open around the city. See below for a list. Mayor Lumumba took pains to point out Jackson was the only one in the metro area providing these services. He offered to demonstrate how to provide such services.
* CEO Head Honcho Haley Fisackerly appeared at the press conference. He said 5 storms hit the Jackson area within a week. 16,000 customers lack power statewide. 6,500 customers have not power in Jackson. There are 450 workers operating in Jackson. He said power should be restored to all customers who can take power by tomorrow night. Entergy has not seen this "many customer outages since Katrina."
* The Mayor said the city lost 911 service last week due to generator problems.
* Mr. Fisackerly disputed the claim that recovery efforts were hampered by an alleged loss of experienced workers. He said Entergy Mississippi was limited in using workers from neighboring states due to storm damage in those states.
* A reporter asked the Mayor about his comments that drew the attention of Judge Wingate. He refused to back off his comments, calling them factual.

is Clinton not providing charging/cooling?
they are at the firestations
June 20, 2023 at 1:21 PM -- They have opened-up Fire Station #2. But, that wouldn't be applicable for a CoJ briefing.
Pandering Chokwe.
Haley is clueless. He is a f***ing dancer, not an electrician, engineer, or even a competent administrator for that matter. Under dressed and unimpressive. The people who work directly under him will agree with this.
Maybe if the Entergy trucks weren't getting shot up in his RADICAL ASS SHITHOLE OF A CITY the power might get restored sooner.
Very informative & encouraging info from press conference.
Haley was pandering to the woke/progressive/majority Jackistan crowd. He will get some brownie points from his woke stockholders.
Reminds me of a movie- Dumb & Dumber.
No entergy truck or worker was shot or shot at, 3:02. I really hate to disappoint you.
What does “woke” even mean, 3:11 (other than a buzzword you use to signal to the rest of the world that you have a room temp IQ)? Moreover, how does that term apply to efforts to restore electrical power here?
My head is just shaking listening to Fisackerly. Is that the best person for the job you can get Entergy? There is no excuse on the time-frame for the handling of the outages. A true leader would have stepped up and acknowledged the shortcoming and taken some accountability.
Haley doing a press conference with Jackson while in the middle of selling his Jackson home and moving to bridgewater. Not far enough pal, the Jackson landfill was smelling stout today up in Bridgewater, like most days!
Informed by Entergy employee today that Entergy was waiting on the City of Jackson to remove downed trees...and waiting....and waiting. The Zelensky-like dancer from Entergy didnt relate this pertinent fact since he heard about the recent incorporation of Richard's Power and Light.
Shock-way won't lick Wingate's boots.
"The Mayor said the city lost 911 service last week due to generator problems."
Because they were out of gas?
3:53, Which part of Judge Wingate will he lick?
The bar is so bottom of the ocean low that we are now cheering and defending the city of Jackson because the Entergy workers were not "shot at" as 1st reported.
They were merely in the same vicinity as flying bullets so hey...no big deal guys. Business as usual. It's not like anyone died so calm down, right?
ONLY thing Lumumba can demonstrate is incompetence and dishonesty.
@3:38 - I heard this as well - and have seen it firsthand. Entergy isn't in charge of removing fallen trees. They have to wait for the city to move them before they can repair the affected lines. And we all know how long that can take.... I'm sure Chokwe would never admit to that though. Better to keep pointing out the flashy cooling/charging stations!!!
3:30 PM
Democrats (2020): Get woke
Also Democrats (2023): What does "woke" even mean??

LMAO You don't live anywhere near Bridgewater. Doubt you could even afford it there. I live in Dinsmoor and it doesn't stink. Well it did when I moved in but that's because my house had a broken sewer pipe that got repaired.
June 20, 2023 at 3:53 PM
But he will bend the knee to a Federal judge.
Spot on 4:20! Yep, gunfire is so routine, it's hardly worth mentioning these days. I mean, what's the big deal and why would people say Entergy was shot at or shot? It's only relevant if someone is actually shot, and then it's only noteworthy if the victim is the correct color and the shooter is the correct color. That's the city in which we live!
There is a tree over some power line blocking a lane of Amite St. No cones, signs, nor apparent efforts to remove it.
How ironic that a man who doesn't understand 'woke' accuses a man who DOES understand it of having room temp I.Q.
Feel free to answer the questions, 4:58
Next thing you know Lumumba will say this series of training T-Storms was the worst in recorded history or something completely indefensible like that.
"No entergy truck or worker was shot or shot at, 3:02. I really hate to disappoint you."
Do you really think a 'drive by shooter' gives a shit about the logo on a utility truck? While you claim no Entergy truck was shot, one from Florida, containing its workers, WAS shot. Read the article elsewhere on this blog.
Raise your hand if you have EVER heard of an electric-utility truck being shot while responding to a city-wide emergency anywhere but in Jackson, Mississippi.
@ 3:27. If you can read do a little research.
Crew from Tallahassee was not harmed but truck was damaged in shooting incident in The Radical city Jackson. I'm sure it was Trump and the republican parties fault.
Other than a place to pick up a bag of ice, what exactly is a 'charging cooling' station?
Jackson - It’s like urban camping.
The mayor will call a news conference before Saturday. He will announce:
'Many constituents have been unable to connect these water filters provided by UHC. I have called this press conference to announce that I have contracted with (fill in the blank) to respond to your need.
If you require assistance in hooking up your filter, call my office and we will take care of it'.
What's your best guess as to who the contract will be with and who the Project Manager will be and at what dollar amount?
A lot of woke B S in this thread . This was not a shooting of an Electrical repair truck . It was a continuation of. “road rage” that went into a neighborhood where repairs were taking place. They shot over but not at the guy that approached them. This doesn’t make this acceptable or excusable but it is not as some have described.. it
7:28, I think I might know where you got that false info from, and he’s an extremely unreliable source of info.
'They shot over but not at the guy that approached them.'
Oh, wait! A trajectory expert has posted at 8:50 p.m. He was on scene and had whatever tools are necessary to determine point or origin, velocity and specific path of rounds fired.
Determination: 'Someone shot OVER but not AT the Florida utility truck'.
No harm, no foul. Remanded to the file.
Standing by for Marshall Ramsey's cartoon of linemen being issued Kevlar vests and chaps.
The whining about electricity here is absurd. I know several people who had their homes destroyed. Tulsa got ROCKED Saturday/Sunday by bad storms. They already have a gas shortage. Everything is closed. They are also expected to be without power until Sunday, a whole week, but all I see are people joking and trying to help on social media. Not the bitching like here in Mississippi.
Haley is a lobbyist. No line crews, distribution, production under him. Leader of a shell company. He provides a face and gives updates handed to him. I am sure he tries to be accurate. Linemen are not permitted to be armed,(assume many are) why take any risk in Jackson, a sporting event is delayed with lighting in area, why respond if gunfire is even 1 mile away. Zero upside for the line crews, many out of state. Jackson refuses to face the first essential service is safe streets. I took a Entergy marked truck volunteer running food and water to crews after hurricane Georges in New Orleans. Was running a gauntlet on some streets, upset black residents standing along street tossing bricks, bottles, my being white was not the issue, it was the truck. The thin line of civivliaztion erodes fast when no power. Imagine a EMT strike?
"Other than a place to pick up a bag of ice, what exactly is a 'charging cooling' station?"
Are you serious? Stop and give it some thought, Einstein.
How about they go to the Eudora Welty Library. Ohh that's right, it's closed cause Jackistan doesn't want to spend the money to maintain its library system so its residents can read.
I have a friend who is and Entergy employee. He says Haley is a politician, not a CEO
@7:28 -
“ @ 3:27. If you can read do a little research.

it is only Trump and the Republicans fault in that you are so comfortable lying to support your imaginary narrative in the same way they taught you to. Why lie about the truck getting shot up? It’s because you are clearly a Trump loving liar who doesn’t let the truth get in the way of a good fairytale about scary black people.
"Other than a place to pick up a bag of ice, what exactly is a 'charging cooling' station?"

I am indeed serious, Weinstein. Am I to assume a charging station is a place to take rechargeable D-Cell batteries and have them charged back up for the flashlight one has at home? Or can one tow an electric car to the firehouse and have it charged? There are thousands of electric cars in Jackson, right.
And as to 'cooling', it this a place one can take a lawn chair and a magazine and sit in front of a rolling, industrial fan or air conditioner and cool off?
Suppose YOU tell us, Harvey?
