The Mississippi Department of Human Services issued the following statement.
A Warren County, Miss. resident surrendered to authorities on May 15, 2023, following a SNAP fraud investigation conducted by the Investigations Division of the Mississippi Department of Human Service (MDHS).
MDHS announced that Felicia M. White of Warren County received $34,347.00 in SNAP benefits by not reporting household income and composition accurately to MDHS. Based on the evidence obtained during the investigation, the case was referred to the Warren County District Attorney’s office. The Warren County District Attorney secured an indictment on March 28, 2023, and White later turned herself in to Warren County officials on May 15, 2023, through her attorney.
“This is a great example of collaboration between our investigations team, county office, and local law enforcement,” stated MDHS Inspector General Sandra Griffith.
The case was investigated by Agent Michael Bounds of the MDHS Investigations Division. The Investigations Division is a subset of the MDHS Office of the Inspector General (OIG), which was created in August 2018 and charged with detecting, preventing, and deterring fraud, waste, and abuse. OIG has been responsible for millions in dollars collected from SNAP overpayments.
“This investigation demonstrates the strengthened controls we have in place to identify, investigate, and eliminate fraud in our programs,” MDHS Executive Director Robert G. “Bob” Anderson said.
Suspected fraud can be reported to MDHS online any time by submitting the MDHS Fraud Tip Form at https://www.mdhs.ms.gov/

2nd instance of this in a week in just 1 State actually looking for it.
Yet, liberals spew the false narrative that these welfare systems are NOT ripe with fraud.
Nevermind the fact that 10% of SNAP purchases are for soda. SODA! So, we are paying for folks using SNAP to drink soda then we are paying for their chronic health conditions created by eating and drinking ultra processed food via Medicaid.
Bye Felicia
Soda Pop causes morbidity and amputations for waddling welfare lifestyle of pampered paupers.
Doesn't Medicaid have a fraud unit? I thought Shad White said a whole bunch of Medicaid recipients were falsifying records, and the Feds concurred--at least for a couple folks.
What's happening there?
Years ago I was at a piggly wiggly the starving lady in front of us was probably 100 pounds over weight. She had steak, ding dongs, beer etc. she paid for all this with ebt but the amount was a few dollars over what was on her card so she pulls out a $50 bill to pay for the rest. It’s very frustrating to work hard, pay taxes and see things like this.
Welfare fraud?
Nooooooooooooooo. Really? Really?
I’m shocked.
It never stops
Certain items should not be able to be bought with SNAP dollars. Soda, cookies, cakes, bakery items and other high sugar content items. It would be easy to administer with present day technology.
Slow day down to the newsroom?
