Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens issued the following statement.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announces the conviction of Danny Dabbs of Second Degree Murder and Felony Child Abuse. Dabbs pled guilty to Second Degree Murder in the death of his 17-year-old step-daughter and two counts of felony child abuse for the abuse of two other minor children. Danny Dabbs was sentenced to 40 years for murder, 10 years for felony child abuse, for a total of 50 years with Mississippi Department of Corrections.
On October 31, 2020, officers of the Jackson Police Department responded to a home on Lower Drive in Jackson in response to a report of an unresponsive person. Upon arrival, officers discovered 17-year-old, Lamonica Tucker, unresponsive with obvious signs of physical abuse. Tucker was transported to the hospital where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. During the ensuing investigation, two other minor children in the household were examined and both children bore signs of prolonged physical abuse. As a result of the investigation, the children’s mother, Latiffany Chambers, and step-father, Danny Dabbs were arrested and subsequently indicted for Capital Murder in the death of Tucker, and feloniously abusing the other minor children, 14-year-old, D.C. and 12-year-old A.C.1
On April 13, 2023, a Hinds County Jury convicted Latiffany Chambers of the Capital Murder of her daughter Lamonica Tucker and for physically abusing the two minor children. Latiffany Chambers was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for Capital Murder.
Following sentencing, District Attorney Owens says, “This is the end of a truly traumatic and horrific crime of physical, mental, and sexual abuse. Our office will continue to fight for and protect all children from those that commit these acts.”

There are no words... One child dead and the two others are wounded for life, and it has gone on for years. May God be with them. So sad.
DA Jody Owens let’s show the victims of the gang bangers and killers the same Justice. Put some teeth and growl in their sentences.
We got to get these fools off the streets before they come to a neighborhood near your loved ones!
Thanks
Someone should educate these DAs that MS has a death penalty.
In reality there is no such thing as life, 50 years, 25 years, or whatever. Why? Because any governor with a stroke of a pen could release him. In 10, 15, or 20 years from now after this crime is long forgotten he could be released and no one would give a crap.
Inter-generational abuse, wait 15-20 years, see it play out again as victims become abusive themselves. Most of us can thank God for loving parents.
to 7;59am..........................all DAs know that...the problem is you can't get a hinds county jury in the 1st judicial district to turn out the lights on someone no matter what they did.
