The Jackson City Council is meeting right now about the proposed consent decree. It is streamed below. Watch but don't listen.
Update (1:45 PM): The City Council approved a consent decree on a 4-0 vote. Members Ashby Foote, Angelique Lee, Virgi Lindsay, and Brian Grizzle voted for the measure. The other members were absent.
Jackson has one year to meet the terms of the consent decree. The decree has not been made public. The city will apply for a $3 million EPA grant to defray the costs of implementing the decree.
Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba was not present.

Appears to be a game of charades.
What good will it do for the city council to meet when the mayor can force them to do what he wants them to do? Sounds like we should get rid of the city council as they do not do anything.
Oh well, don't do FB/META.
And, par for the course, they took the discussion into executive session. That's per WLBT. I might have a little more respect for them if they had the decency to tell me to go screw myself to my face. And, the Honorable Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, esteemed members of the council, your answer to the water crisis is to hire lawyers and bond pimps? Just a little spitballing here...why not engineers, project managers, you know, people that can actually fix it? And the whole deal is made in private?
Insider I know shared that while it appears that the EPA asked for the confidentiality agreement it was actually Lumumba who suggested it in order to keep the Council and public in the dark. Jackson tax base is about to receive a royal screwing.
No one wants to be left out of getting their slice of the pie.
An army of contractors appeared in our NE Jackson neighborhood this morning... installing new "smart" meters. Here we go again!
You poor inhabitants of Jackson, you better vote for the democrat candidates, the Republican Party candidates will stop funding this fiasco.
Hiz Onner won't veto this one, right?
The most transparent mayor in Jackson's history - not.
Nobody should respect Jackson "government" at this point. If anyone was to tell me they work for Jackson government I would assume they are retarded and can't get a job elsewhere.
Prostitution is dealt in the dark just like the Mayor's EPA transaction.
Prostitution seems like a Sunday school class compared to the mayor and city council of Jackson.
