Veterans who live in State Veteran's Homes will get their Covid-19 vaccines. Sometimes a little media coverage is not a bad thing. WAPT reported last night:
It’s obvious that that means something to different people. They’ve prioritized Medicaid facilities over the VA homes in the states across the country,” Pickering said.
16 WAPT contacted CVS and a spokesperson for the company sent a statement Monday afternoon, citing a classification error by the CDC as the reason VA homes haven't seen the vaccine yet.
Here is the statement in full:
"CVS Health has partnered with approximately 200 skilled-nursing facilities and assisted-living facilities in the state of Mississippi to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to roughly 29,000 residents and staff. We began making vaccination visits to facilities in Mississippi on December 28, which was the date that the state elected to turn on ‘Part A’ of the program – which included only skilled-nursing facilities. Mississippi will be turning on ‘Part B’ – assisted-living and all other long-term care facilities – on January 11. With respect to Mississippi’s Veterans Centers, the information we were provided by the CDC classified these as assisted-living facilities instead of skilled-nursing facilities. We recognized this classification error last week and are working to schedule clinics as soon as possible with the Mississippi Veterans Centers." Rest of article.

Well done KF.
Like, I said in the previous post Jan 4-12:59 PM (Vets can't get vaccine) you have to put a little pressure on the V.A. to get anything done. Thanks, KF for rolling over that stone & shedding light on the dark underbelly of the V.A.

It wasn't the VA's fault; it was the stupid CDC not having a clue what a veteran's home is and thus misclassifying them.
CVS is a contractor following the erroneous rules set by the CDC. You know, where the rock star Fauci works, pending his book release.
Dr. Fauci is Director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which is a separate entity from the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).
