Mayor to shut down gun stores.
Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba issued the following Executive Order. Pay attention to Section 12(b) for a list of essential businesses.

I made a quick skim but was wondering if anyone saw landscaping as being allowed? Antar's yardman constituency is going to go ballistic, or just ignore the order if they are prohibited.
To the Jackson bashers:
If you don't live here, again, mind your own damn business!
If you only work here, this will be a taste of what your " it will fail" predictions will mean and why it's NOT in your interest to enable failure.
This is Jackson Jambalaya, it's not Madison Jambalaya or any other MS town's for a reason.
This is your Capitol and you damn well should be either helping to make it better or else stop with the bad publicity which only makes " better" harder!
What about stores that sell firearms? Its not ok to suspend our 2nd amendment rights.
Did the Mayor find this on the internet? Theaters, water parks, aquariums??? Where are those in Jackson?
Jackson water park and amusement rides? Uh, it's time for Mayor Melvin.
Well that was obviously plagiarized. With the exception of Priester is there any city official that could graduate from UMC, MC Law, or Millsaps?
It's really a shame they had to shut down the zoo. I know a lot of people were looking forward to going.
11:37 AM - I don't read it as gun stores being closed.
I guess they missed the updated list issued on the 28th
https://www.cisa.gov/publication/guidance-essential-critical-infrastructure-workforce
that clearly states "The following list of identified essential critical infrastructure workers is intended to be overly inclusive reflecting the diversity of industries across the United States." and "Workers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges."
Gonna lock it down, but will wait for Friday? Really is an emergency I guess. BOHICA
It’s good to see the beggars at County Line and Lakeland are exempted. They would actually have to get real jobs.
Can’t these people proofread. 15-a: required measurers?
Golf at the CCJ has been approved by the mayor
We can bash the shithole of Jackson all we want, the first amendment is there for all; so fuck off.
If I'm not mistaken, there are no longer any firearms & ammo stores left in Jacktown. Didn't the last one that was down on Pearl Street move out or either shut down?
A list of what is NOT exempted would be clearer.
11:37, are you really that stupid, or are you just an idiotic fanatic.
Our, and that includes "your", 2nd Amendment Rights do not have to do with stores that sell ammo or firearms.
If you need help reading, the 2nd Amendment does not infringe on one's right to own or possess firearms. I does not guarantee anything about a business that might sell them being entitled to do anything that other businesses can't do.
You can continue to own all the firearms that you care to - with the few exceptions that SCOTUS have determined do not fit within the scope. But please enlighten us as to where in the 2nd it guarantees someone's right to stay open for business selling firearms.

What makes you so sure all Jackson bashers reside outside Jackson?
@11:55
As terrible as he is for NE Jackson Republican Ashby Foote did graduate from west point so I would include him as being qualified along with priester.
It looks like to me that the list of essential stuff if basically 80% of normal stuff that is open.
"Mayor to shut down gun stores."
Literally nowhere does it say that, Kingfish. You're as bad as MSNBC recently.
@1:04 - “Commercial regulations on the sale of firearms do not fall outside the scope of the Second Amendment[.]” United States v. Marzzarella, 614 F.3d 85, 92 n.8 (3d Cir. 2010). Rather, “prohibiting the commercial sale of firearms. . .would be untenable under Heller.” Id. See also Jackson v. City of S.F., 746 F.3d 953 (9th Cir. 2014) (finding sales of ammunition falls within the scope of the Second Amendment).
If I’m not mistaken Lil Chokwe stated that gun shops are not essential in his live conference.
Lumumba just said gun stores shall be closed
LOL !
Guns sales will not be affected.
(Just like drug sales).
How many addicts are abiding by this six foot rule ?
We are nation of idiots.
City of Jackson notice for non-essential businesses that must close included zoos, bowling alleys, funplexes, water parks, aquariums, and theaters. That's why we don't have those in Jackson! They must have known about COVID19 years ago....or maybe they did a cut and paste on the list...
Here is some scoop for ya.
Guess who on the city council opposed shutting down churches? Yup. The preacher from Ward 6. Churches getting infected around the country and in South Korea but he raised hell about shutting them down.
I didn’t look to see if this was already posted, but you don’t need a gun store to buy a gun. Hit up the first apartment complex you come to and there shall be plenty of firearms. Two or three may already belong to you. Or, me. You may have to pay a premium for a stolen gun. No ID required for the Jacktown Democratic residence. By the way, I do not consider Jackson as the capital. Hell, the Guvna don’t even live there.
Continued the shelter in place cinema with the Michael Crichton classic, The Andromeda Strain this evening. In 1971 they were willing to nuke a viral hotspot to save the rest of the country. I'm glad some things have changed.
Swann’s Gun Repair on Old Canton. Dave Swann is the man on guns. He can get you anything you need. Tell him what you’re needing and he will give you expert advice and service and a good price I’ve been a customer for over 20 years. He just repaired a rifle that the sheriff retrieved for me from a thief. I would have bet it was irreparable. He’s very good at what he does
Once again, His Lordship, The Mayor, host a gathering is his staff and media members in close quarters to tell the rest of us NOT to gather in close quarters...
There is a saying about meetings that could have been an email.... 🤦♂️
