The Chinese Communist Government silenced one of the top experts on Coronaviruses when she sequenced the gene for the Wuhan virus and reported the virus could infect humans. The Daily Mail (U.K.) reported on April 11:
A Chinese scientist who is the one of the world's leading experts on coronaviruses was 'muzzled' after unravelling the genetic composition of the new disease, which is crucial for developing diagnostic tests and vaccines. The Chinese Communist government also got around to revising the death toll from the Wuhan virus. The right-wing New York Times reported last week:
The revelation will fuel fresh concerns over China's cover-up of the pandemic after it erupted in the city of Wuhan. Critics argue that Communist Party chiefs frustrated efforts to contain the outbreak before it exploded around the world.
At the centre of the new claims is Shi Zhengli, known as China's 'Bat Woman' after years spent on difficult virus-hunting expeditions in dank caves that have led to a series of important scientific discoveries.
The virologist was called back to her high-security laboratory in Wuhan at the end of last year after a mysterious new respiratory condition in the city was identified as a novel coronavirus – and within three days she completed its gene sequencing.
Their findings showed it was similar to SARS, a respiratory disease that sparked an epidemic in 33 countries after emerging from China in 2002.
Gao Yu, a Chinese journalist freed last week after 76 days of lockdown in Wuhan, said he spoke to Shi during his incarceration and revealed: 'We learned later her institute finished gene-sequencing and related tests as early as January 2 but was muzzled.'
The Mail on Sunday has learned that on that same day, Yanyi Wang, director of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, sent an email to staff and key officials ordering them not to disclose information on the disease. ...
In an online lecture last month, Shi Zhengli said her team found on January 14 that the new virus could infect people – six days before this fact was revealed by China.
On the same day, the World Health Organisation issued a tweet backing China's denials of human transmissions.
Shi's team released its data identifying the disease on January 23 on a scientific portal before publication the next month by the journal Nature.
It said the genomic sequence was 96 per cent identical to another virus they found in horseshoe bats in Yunnan.
Shi is a specialist in emerging diseases and has earned global acclaim for work investigating links between bats and coronaviruses, aided by expeditions to collect samples and swabs in the fetid cave networks of southern China.... Rest of article.
China on Friday raised its coronavirus death toll by 50 percent in Wuhan, the city where the outbreak first emerged, amid accusations that the government had concealed the extent of the epidemic.Officials placed the new tally at 3,869 deaths from the coronavirus in the central Chinese city, an increase of 1,290 from the previous figure. The number of cumulative confirmed infections in the city was also revised upward to 50,333, an increase of 325... Rest of article.
Does anyone actually believe those numbers?

Have they harvested and sold her organs?
We here untruths every afternoon from our own government, why is anyone surprised about China?
Wag the dog....
@8:21 - I think they ate that dog...
Have any reputable news sources reported this or just daily mail? I just took a look at their website and it appears to be primarily cheap celebrity gossip.

Your question exposes your own biases. When the shit hits the fan and only the fittest are surviving be careful not to tip your hand.
Ah yes, the Daily FAIL aka Daily Mail which is not even acceptable wrapping for use by fishmongers in London.
WHO noted a cluster of the virus on Dec. 30th according to Lancet.
China announced new virus isolated on Jan 3.
The gene sequencing data was first published in China on January 10th.
The WHO confirmed immediately on January 10th
The first person with symptoms later confirmed to be coronavirus 19 appeared Dec.1.
The first symptom of the dangerous pneumonia was Dec.10th.
The first hospital admission was was Dec.16th according to Lancet.
It is possible the first case may have happened as early as Nov 19th.
CDC noted with management incident report and travel warning on January 7th
WHO issued alert/warning January 9th
Controversial WHO tweet was January 14th when they couldn't confirm "human to human" contact from Chinese data ( ie. only could confirm those who ate meat from market)
Throughout WHO issued situation reports as they received information from various countries.
IF the virus had turned out not to be human to human contagious but only gotten by eating wild game and WHO or governments over-reacted, we'd be angry then as well and it would be political fodder.
My family members cancelled trips in January (even within the U.S.) and we began to take measures to protect ourselves...constant hand cleansing and avoiding crowds and those who had recently travelled. People were travelling ( I knew some) so the virus could and would travel with them. One doesn't have to be an epidemiologist to figure that out.
If our political leaders didn't heed warnings or bother to stop international travel from ALL countries sooner and quarantine every American returning ( not assuming discipline or thoughtfulness of others on their part) it's because it was an election year and they thought doing so would make them unpopular. No cases would make them appear foolish rather than brilliant to a public they see as undereducated and easily manipulated. The mantra would be that we'd not have gotten it here anyway. They also knew ( and apparently still believe) that their constituency believes only what it wants to be true and is incompetent to follow instructions.
Those of you who still get your information from politically biased outlets or the internet rather than to research for yourselves are hopelessly naïve. Those of you who believe God will protect you had best hope God doesn't think He's already given you the means to protect yourselves and others.
Most of the people in Mississippi seem to support authoritarian, misinformation spreading government, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Fox, and - I don't know how this is even possible - the even more tin foil hatted OAN are modeled after and identical to state TV in oppressive regimes around the world.
When we're doing a trade deal with them, it's just "China." When we're propagandizing it's "the Chinese Communist Government."
I'll be sorely disappointed if Trump/Congress doesn't force U.S. companies to drastically reduce trade with China. Bring those jobs back here and open up those factories. We have entirely too much cheap crap made available through money hungry companies like Walmart, Target, etc. People who really cannot afford it are taking too much of their limited income and spending it on Chinese made electronics instead of paying the rent or mortgage. We need to get back to the days when someone would ask - "Why don't you have such n such". And the reply would be "I just can't afford it".
This virus didn't come from a Lab in Wuhan, China.
The RNA & proteins that makeup the virus has no man made qualities.
The virus hijacks normal cells & turns the host cell into reproduction factories.
See article below & know the truth.

Your name wouldn't happen to be Karen, would it? You do what you need to do and leave everybody else alone. America is still free and the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is still alive.
10:40 dream on, buying from the Chinese for electronics, is like using illegal aliens to process chickens no one in the U.S. would be able to afford either if they only used US citizens to make the stuff or process the chickens.

As opposed to getting your daily brainwashing from Jon Oliver? Although I hear he is less effective without punctuating his idiotic snark with a laughtrack.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China

We've been reading your droppings here on JJ for years. Long enough to know you are hopelessly a pontificating fool.
americans have very short memories. in the 1970s this country became dependent on stinking muslim countries and arab kings for our oil. and look how that turned out.
a mere 35 years later we become dependent on the stinking chinese communist party for our manufacturing. same problem , and look how that has turned out for us.
we never seem to learn our lesson.
allowing this country to become dependent on the likes of such a communist government and filthy arabs is a recipe for disaster.
and now you got your disaster. how do you like it?
Confucius says:
A service economy is not sustainable without a manufacturing base.
I think that is what Dr. Zhengli said, or something similar.
