General Fitch Shakes Up AG's Office

Attorney General Lynn Fitch issued the following statement.

After announcing her senior staff last week, Attorney General Lynn Fitch has announced the hiring of several key Division Directors.

The directors consist of attorneys and professionals from both state and federal governments, along with the private sector. Below is the list of directors, along with the divisions that they will lead:

Ashley L. Sulser - Criminal Litigation Division
Harold Pizzetta - Civil Litigation Division
Kimberly T. Purdie - Cyber Crime Division
Kim Turner - Opinions Division
Cammie Wyatt - Prosecutor and Law Enforcement Training Division
Teri Gleason - Bureau of Victims Assistance
Emelia Nordan – Public Education and Community Engagement Division
Samuel Cole – Administrative Services Division
Russell Armstrong – Administrative / Chief Technology Officer
Yolanda Nash - Accounting and Financial Management Division
Tony Geiger - Constituent Outreach Division
Kyle Williams - Legislative Affairs and Policy Division

"We are restructuring the agency to fit the needs of our State better and to accomplish our bold agenda," said General Fitch. "The Office of the Attorney General is a powerful platform to go into communities across the State, educate the public and engage them in being a part of the solutions to some of our State's greatest challenges. These talented leaders will help us accomplish our goals for advancing Mississippi."

In the coming weeks, General Fitch will continue to evaluate cases, policies, and programs and make additional announcements.

Hopefully they are more qualified for their jobs than she is.

I see four names, maybe five, who are nothing more than the spoils system of payback for services rendered during the campaign. But, that seems to be the way of Mississippi politics. Elections have consequences.

Friday is 'Red Jeans' day at the office.

Good to see she threw a few boys into the mix.

Anonymous said...

She replaced the head of criminal, who has argued before SCOTUS, with a law clerk who has never actually practiced law, or been in a courtroom except to take notes.

Kyle left brunini

Nice guy....prob a good move

It’s like a real life Power Puff Girl Agency!

That office will just be another corrupt agency. Too many women in one place spells trouble. I had to say that....they don’t get along.

You manginas are just pissed that the good ole boy system went out the door with Fitch and Hoseman. Hopefully Gunn will follow their lead and appoint people over party.

Pozetta, Turner and Purdie are excellent choices, top notch attorneys who would be highly sought after by any firm.

Well if that isn't the most vague bunch of bullshit you've ever heard, I don't know what is. Sounds like she ready to launch a social services agency - not be the lead law-enforcement officer for the people. Good God, WHO is going to be watching out for Mississippians lawful rights while she's promoting human services and campaigning full-time for higher office on the taxpayer's dime?

Wow. So it looks almost all different but with respect to civil litigation? From what everyone says about civil, I guess that’s to be expected that they’d stay the same especially with Pizzetta still as chief. Nobile argued on behalf of AG Fitch yesterday at the Supreme Court. After that argument and the charter school argument, she might need to be looked at for SG. But maybe that position will be all different people too.

I went to law school with Ashley Sulser, & I think she’ll be a great choice.

Anonymous said...

Kim Turner is a disaster! When she was at the Secretary of State's office, her opinions varied day by day. Elections Commissions across the state hated to call and ask for opinions.

Anonymous said...

When YOU get elected AG, you can pick the team YOU want, so put your name on a ballot, and put your cheese on the line instead of griping about things you know nothing about. We'll see what happens.

Anyone had to be better than the former head of the Criminal Division. I realize he has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, but so what? He lost the case, and his oral argument before the U.S. Supreme Court was awful.

Anonymous said...

Multiple Brunini departures for the AG's office?

Anonymous said...

I believe Ashley Sulser is Malcolm McMillin's daughter.

Kim Turner was and is highly regarded by the AG's elections attorneys and others who worked with her. Trying to harm someone's professional reputation by way of anonymous comment is not a worthwhile endeavor.

It won't be hard to improve the opinions divisions.

You realize he was limited by doug’s trial record and he is probably the most respected attorney in this building. Certainly the most loved.

Cool how employees are learning of these leadership changes via this website rather than communications from the administration.

Interesting leadership style.

Can someone explain to me the difference in "Constituent Outreach and "Community Engagement?"

Jim:

Thanks for taking care of your people on the way out the door. Your indifference at the end was consistent with your absence the last two terms.

10:44 AM

Why try to harm someone's professional reputation when you can just anonymously fire them without reason??????

Anonymous said...

12:02

I'm unsure which is more abhorrent: your assertion a political agent should be obligated to "take care" of employees on the public dime or implying the firing career employees via email is acceptable.

Surely, you can't be serious.

12:46 PM

I think 12:02 meant that many of the career employees at the AGO are being let go. That Jim did nothing to ensure that these dedicated State employees would have a place on the new AG's team. He spoke for no one, and no one was saved.

Sarcasm:

1 : a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain

2a : a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual

b : the use or language of sarcasm

Ashley Sulser isn’t Malcolm McMillin’s daughter. McMillin’s daughter works for the office of indigent appeals.

The gossip around the capitol building this morning was how unprofessional this transition has been thus far. Totally mishandled.

I don't know who Lynn has in mind for the new "Solicitor General" position, but Krissy Nobile would be the absolute best choice for it. She is straight brilliant, a hard worker, and one of the best oral (and written) advocates I have ever seen.

Anonymous said...

1:34 PM

Thanks Krissy! Hope you get it!

What? You mean you didn't get a huge severance package and a promise of a job somewhere else? Oh, I am so sorry--not! Get over yourself. New administration = new staff. I hate you might have to actually do some hard work for a change.

1:24 "The gossip around the capitol building this morning was how unprofessional this transition has been thus far. Totally mishandled."

Key word "gossip". This is not Jr. High. Get to work!

6:10: Well said.

Why are some people so critical on here? It doesn’t make a lot of sense. As someone who used to work there, not many of the actual lawyers get on here and even read the comments these days. But can’t we all just support the lawyers who are working really hard for little pay?

Anonymous said...

It won't be long before Lynn is preoccupied with plastering her face on billboards and posters across the state. Has she already redecorated the AG's office?

Anonymous said...

"But can’t we all just support the lawyers who are working really hard for little pay?"

Absolutely right! These poor souls were just minding their own bidness, tenforking (that's f'ing around rather than actually working in 10-minute increments while billing clients, for you non-lawyers) at what passes for "big law" in MS making big bucks and living the dream, when SUDDENLY! Masked men (or women - I'm not sexist) tossed oyster sacks over their heads! They were dragged before Fitch and given the ultimate ultimatum - "work for me really hard for little pay...or DIE! DIE! DIE!" I'm beginning to think that a MS law license isn't all that great a deal. And of course, geez, no wonder PERS is in trouble...

What will be interesting is the AG opinion division. Langford needed to go. However, it will take some time to see how the opinion division operates under Kim Turner. Expect some surprises and harsh reactions because there will be a new way of doing things.

furniture so fancy at state personnel board and treasurer's office

Anonymous said...

KF, wishing Turner the best in her new role. I think what the previous commenter said has some validity in that there was always a lack of consistency or different interpretations of the elections code coming out of that office depending on the day of the week. Most county election officials across the state would agree.

Opinions is an important division, I pray she utilizes the talent she has left in that division and does not butt heads with them.

So Why does Lynn have two MHP guys as her security detail??

Anonymous said...

That’s a good question, why does she have a full security detail?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
