Hood Accepts TV Debates

The Jim Hood for Governor campaign issued the following statement.

The Jim Hood for Governor campaign announced Monday that it has accepted three statewide televised debates throughout Mississippi in October and urged Lt. Governor Tate Reeves to do the same.

The Hood for Governor campaign has agreed to the following debates:
  • Thursday, Oct. 10, hosted by WJTV with a live audience on the University of Southern Mississippi campus in Hattiesburg (one hour)
  • Thursday, Oct. 17, hosted by WTVA at its studio in Tupelo (one hour)
  • Tuesday, Oct. 29, hosted by WLBT in Jackson (at least 30 minutes)
“Since August 22 Jim Hood has called for three debates in different regions of the state as a way to reach as many voters as possible to discuss the issues important to them,” the campaign stated. “This will give different media outlets and different regions of the state a chance to participate. We hope Tate Reeves will agree to these debates across the state."
A letter was sent to all media outlets on September 4 by the Hood campaign seeking debate proposals with a one-week deadline of September 11 to submit those proposals. After reviewing multiple submissions, the Hood campaign accepted the three listed here.
Kingfish note: The Reeves campaign press release issued this weekend said the Lieutenant Governor accepted an invitation from WJTV.  Does that mean we now have an agreement on at least one debate?

Tater's worst nightmare!!!
Hood is going to eat him alive! Nobody wants to hear how close he is to Trump or this Liberal paint job he tries to put on Hood. I wouldn't doubt, he has a scheduling conflict at the last minute.

Anonymous said...

This will be his undoing. I love Jimbo but he's a moron. A nine year old with a learning disability would clean his clock in a debate. I hope he rethinks this decision.

Are you sure, I was just watching the national news and there was no mention of this?

Good isn’t real smart nor quick on his feet. If you’ve heard him at the Neshoba County Fair in the past few years you understand what I mean. Like Tate or not, he’s smart and good with numbers and facts. He’s likely to beat Hood pretty badly in these debates.

Well.

Truth be known.

I doubt either one of these guys know how to reload shotgun shells.

Kingfish said...

They are both proficient with firearms.

And the value of that is.........?

@Kingfish.
You don't need to be proficient with firearms to load shotgun shells, you need to be proficient with a Lee Shot Shell Press.

Did Jim-boy blink, or hood-wink?

Tate sounds like an angry 7th grader when he speaks. No offense meant to to 7th graders.

If the traditional political game plan is still true, Hood must be ahead in the polls. The second place candidate is always on the attack to challenge the front runner to a debate. Just an observation from the cheap seats but I’m sure the “experts” will set me straight.

Jimbo can sit on a "bush-hawg" for a Tee Vee commercial all day.

And leftenant Guv . . . Tater . . . can ride around in a MHP/SUV,

And I'm sure they are both very proficient when it comes to shooting Squirrels in Yazoo County.

November should be fun !

I hope Hood asks Sweet Tater about his pledge to fight the law suit against use of the State motto "In God We Trust" from The Mississippi tag.

As I understand Federal Law requires states that use such a statement on their tag to offer a second version of the tag with the statement removed. If Mississippi had done that, there would have never been a lawsuit filed, but instead of following federal law, no second version was offered to the several hundred lost souls who would have requested it.

The funny thing? As I understand, Tater boy was in charge of thee Tag design decisions and it was his decision to violate federal law and drag us into that bucket of crap with ACLU. Would be interesting to hear Tater boy say he had nothing to do with violating the federal law regulating tag design and In God We Trust statements.

The second question I would ask him if I were Hood is what he thought he would accomplish when he used his influence and his wife's position on the HOA to attempt to get a special entrance ramp onto H-25 from their gated neighborhood. I guess Tater's answer would be, "What good is power if you can't use it for your benefit."

I wonder if Hood will start the debate by saying/singing "Hello Darlin'?" It might show a moment of levity in such a crazy race.

I dare ya Jim....

It's inevitable that they're going to debate. The gamesmanship now seems to be who's going to capitulate to the other's schedule. The regional thing that Hood is talking about is nonsense, though. Everyone in the state can watch any debate from the comfort of their home regardless of its location.

Federal law doesn't (or shouldn't) have a damned thing to say about automobile tags. Show me where that encroachment can be found in the constitution?

As to Tater sounding angry, apparently you (the poster) didn't watch Hood the night Tater was declared primary winner. He was madder'n a damned wet hen. Angry, red faced, belligerent, mean, foaming, gnarly. If that's representative of his persona, just one more among thirty reasons to vote for Tater.

I hope one of the moderators asks Jim Hood about his affiliation with John Moseley of Clinton Body Shop and the two of them trying to strong arm insurance companies into making them pay $90/hr labor rates(which is almost double that of Los Angles, CA and other high priced market. Hood has championed for his buddy Moseley and created a huge impasse between the body shops and the insurance companies with Hood being the AG.

@10:49, the tag design was chosen by the Mississippi License Tag Commission. This commission includes the department of revenue, governor's office, treasurer and AG. Tate had nothing to do with it.

Maybe Hood takes perfection....seriously

Oops, correction...maybe Hood takes pride in perfection....seriously!

Can u really actually list 30 reasons to vote for Tater.
I can only think of 1–Hood is a democrat.

...pay $90/hr labor rates(which is almost double that of Los Angles, CA and other high priced market.

Offer up some proof. Otherwise BS.

Mississippi License Tag Commission?? WTF kind of bullshit organization is that? I suppose somebody has to decide on the design of the next ugly tag. How about we save a shit-ton of money by having letters and numbers on a solid background and have prisoners stamp them out at Parchmann? I really don't give a shit about your favorite NASCAR driver, or whatever half-ass school you went to. It would probably also be easier for the license plate cameras to read your tag as well.

The fact that you hide behind anonymity tells me you are a coward who is making a statement with no regard to the facts being true or false. I am John Mosley, owner of Clinton Body Shop. If you are going to talk trash, learn how to spell my name.
Facts- Jim Hood has never been involved in the rates charged for automotive repair. Jim Hood has defined the meaning of a proper repair in regard to consumers in Mississippi. http://www.ago.state.ms.us/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/AUTO-BODY-REPAIR-A-CONSUMERS-GUIDE_Final.pdf
Check out the guide here. I was one of several chose to be a member of the board when this guide was being written. The board was made up of insurance companies, repair shop owner/managers, and employees of both Jim Hood's office and Mike Chaney's office.
This guide was not well received by the insurance industry simply because Jim Hood defined a proper repair as one using parts equal to the OEM parts and using procedures deemed necessary by the maker of the vehicle.
As for your claim of higher labor rates than California, again you are simply telling a lie, or you don't verify your information before you make a public statement. The labor rates in California are on an average over 100.00 per hour for the same procedures we charge 65.00 per hour.
Your statements are very similar to the lies State Farm agents were asked to circulate when I ran for Insurance Commissioner in 2015. I assume you are an insurance company employee or closely associated with the insurance industry. At any rate, I call you a coward and quite frankly, a liar. i am a Republican but you can bet I am supporting Jim Hood for Governor. He doesn't sell out to big corporations. He holds them accountable to the consumers they serve. feel free to call me or better yet, come see me. We can debate the issues. I am John Mosley owner of Clinton Body Shop and I gladly leave my comments with my name.

Amen John. And I am a Ronald Reagan Republican voting for Jim Hood.

well john, looks like you and the 'ronald reagan republican' are gonna lose again by siding with the Hood. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to your crooked shop.

John Mosley said...

The only thing crooked in this conversation is your anatomy due to no spine.
I didn't expect you to answer with any real content. How would you like for you and I to sit down at a place of your choosing and debate this subject using Facebook Live ? - John E. Mosley

I'm glad you posted this to correct Tate's PAID ADVERTISEMENT on this site (which did not allow comments) that stated "Tate Accepts Debate Invitations, Crickets from Hood."

Tate is trying to take a page from Trump's playbook by lying to voters and then, just hope they're too dumb to actually fact check his nonsense.

There's no California liberals coming for the tag, neither Waller nor Hood have anything in common with AOC and Nancy Pelosi, and Hood absolutely will debate Tater.

@ ZERO Poly-Stuffed Bear: You earlier identified yourself as a 25 or 30 something up and coming super star. That said, you pretty much painted all your forthcoming posts as immature nonsense. Who can read past the first sentence of any of your posts?

Hey John lets look at some facts. First, yourself and Doug White have supported the Republican candidate for the past several elections. You now all of a sudden are supporting Hood, I wonder why. Could it be that he helped you and Doug strong arm the insurance companies so you two could make more money off of them. Second, you and Doug could careless if someone gets an aftermarket part or a factory part. You get to mark up the factory part more so you make more money. Third you and Doug White are supporting Jim Hood, and we all know why.

John most folk on here are everyday average citizens who could careless about your body shop.

Anonymous said...

I appreciate John Mosley's response to an ill informed claim. However, since you are stating you are a republican but still supporting Jim Hood I will not use your shop. Please, do all of us a favor and post Jim Hood signs in your place of business so more people will know. I'm sorry but when you are running for Governor, party affiliation is very important. Regardless of how 'conservative' you think Jim Hood is because he's a Mississippian or whatever, he will be beholden to the Democratic party and their platform. And all you republicans who vote for Hood better pray extra hard that nothing happens to Cindy or Wicker. It's like people don't play out the full scenario of the ramifications of Hood as Gov't. But, maybe they really aren't republicans at heart...

Anonymous said...

I hate to say it but I'm a hardcore conservative leaning towards Hood too. That hurts even to type. Tate is like the Hillary of Republicans.

John Mosley said...

I will leave the blog with this comment

I support the candidate I think will do the best job for all Mississippians.
I have called on Jim Hood's office many times when consumers were not being treated fairly.
This is America, the greatest country on Earth thanks to many who served to keep us free. I respect others right and privilege to vote for whom they see fit and I vote as I choose. If you find that offensive, I can't help that.
One thing is for sure, whoever wins this election will be my governor.
I simply disagree with someone slandering my name on a public forum. I made the offer to debate this person's false statements in a public format and that offer will stand open. John E. Mosley

“Although Mosley doesn't have a political background, he said that he has a good understanding of the issues and has surrounded himself with experts in the industry. He also hopes to work with the Mississippi governor to help repeal Obamacare.
"I'm 100 percent against a federal mandate," said Mosley. "I don't like any forced mandate on a citizen, whether it's State Farm, Parts Trader or especially the federal government trying to force their own health care system into place."

So, how do you and Hood stand on this one? You going to stand with him to repeal Obamacare or was that just said when you were running for office?

Anonymous said...

Well, Jeb just announced he is going to fundraise for Tate in Jackson soon. Hood just won my endorsement.

You were already a Hood-Rat before this. Don't forget that Stacey Abrams is supporting Hood. I think I would much rather
Jeb than Stacey.

8:12 funny how John forgets what he said when running for office. Bottom line is John owes Hood like so many lawyers do

I look forward to the debate(s). We'll have a baby-faced clown vs a country music idol who is about to bust a neck vein every time he speaks. One will rattle off memorized statistics and the other will regurgitate democrat talking points masquerading as what's best for the community. If we only had a third choice.

This whole election cycle has been a real yawner, including the state's top attorney who only has experience approving college savings advertisements.

I work at a big chain shop in town and we use a lot of aftermarket parts. Aftermarket parts SUCK but because the shop makes over 50% markup on aftermarket and only 20% on OEM parts then our owners make us use the aftermarket crap parts. Aftermarket=PROFIT=shitty repairs

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
