I’ve always heard before one can solve a problem, one must acknowledge a problem exist. Our political correct society shields the problem & prevents the solution thereof, so crime flourishes.
I give up. I can’t drive in Jackson anymore. Between the potholes and bodies in the roadways it’s just become impossible.
Top Years for Jackson Murder:
1995 = 92
1994 = 91
2019 = 86 (Projection based on current murder rate.)
2018 = 84
1993 = 84
1991 = 76
2008 = 73
1996 = 67
I thought we were past 65 by now? What was the YTD from last year?
It's only the perception of #63.
Next.
10:43
You are not driving anywhere in Jackson where this is happening.
10:43, I don't doubt that you may have driven somewhere and there were potholes in the road. Hell, I was driving in Madison the other day and hit two on one street.
But I'll bet you haven't driven anywhere where there was a body in the road - in Jackson or in Madison County. Or anywhere for that matter.
As much as we would like to find a solution to this epidemic, there is none. Violence has become an integral part of this culture. You could place a cop on every corner in town, but when one of these thugz decides to settle a score, nothing short of murder is on their mind. And I'm telling you, it ain't gonna get any better, only worse.
I doubt this thug had a brass catcher so it should be easy to narrow down the caliber of the "rifle style" weapon.
Im curious if this was a magazine feed semi auto rifle, or if this poor soul was ventilated with 30-30 lever action.
If JPD knows the caliber and are keeping it quiet then we can only assume that they found an exotic shell casing. Something unexpected and and they are keeping quiet so as to not tip off the suspect.
10:43 drama queen much
@2:08, I drive on Ridgewood Road. Idiots with guns are big enough to go anywhere. Often wonder if they are in cars next to me and that feeling is not limited to just Jackson.
I read the other day that Jackson is now the 7th most dangerous city in the USA. Great stat for a state that desperately needs industry, businesses, and tourists. We better shape up.
...." The victim appeared to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body"...
How else could you possibly suffer from gunshot wounds if they weren't "to the body"??????
It's just a number.
I thought we were past 65 by now? What was the YTD from last year? September 26, 2019 at 10:53 AM
10:53; as that year has ended, there IS no YTD from last year. YTD means year to date. I think you're asking for the Year End figure?
10:50 - Do your stats represent indictments for Murder or indictments and guilty verdicts that were manslaughter that should have been murder? We all know every mayor in the past 25 years has cooked the books with the help of the chief(s) of PoPo and others.
Jackson has an estimated population of approximately 165,000. http://worldpopulationreview.com/us-cities/jackson-ms-population/
If 10:50 a.m.'s projection of Jackson's murder rate of 86 for 2019 turns out to be correct, Jackson will have a per-capita murder rate of about 52 per 100,000 people. That ties the 20th highest murder rate in the world for cities not at war (for cities with a population of at least 300,000).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_by_murder_rate
Jackson will still be behind St. Louis (61), but ahead of Baltimore (51), Detroit (39) and New Orleans (37).
"How else could you possibly suffer from gunshot wounds if they weren't "to the body"?????? "
Since you apparently don't know, let me explain: Gunshot wounds to the head (not body) are usually fatal, not "wounds" which implies the victim is still alive.
Hell, I was driving in Madison the other day and hit two on one street.
Which street? Name it.
10:50, can you, or anyone, annotate this list to show who was mayor and/or JPD chief each year? No agenda here, just wondering.
🆙 to 64
8:50 - There is no such thing as "YTD from last year". YTD means year to date and is (usually) a monthly figure.
There ain't no potholes in Madison. Unless, well, you venture off east onto Hoy Road. That's the area the Mayor has chosen to forget about.
