JJ is still waiting on a public records request from the city of Jackson despite submitting it on January 22. JJ asked for a roster of all JPD employees on January 1, 2018 and January 1, 2019. Public Records law states the government has to provide the records within 7 business days or else provide a reason for the delay in writing. The clerk's office responded as it was supposed to do on January 31:
Fair enough. The clerk did her job and followed the law. However, the fourteen-day deadline came and went. The city sent this response on February 13:I'm writing asking for more time to complete your request that is due on tomorrow. The Department of Personnel Management doesn't have the capability to create a report of what is being requested, however a request has been sent to Information Systems to obtain that report. As soon as it's received, it will be uploaded for release by the Office of the City Clerk.
The clerk's office is not responsible for compiling the records as such tasks are usually delegated to the appropriate department - JPD for police reports, Human Resources for personnel records, etc.As it relates to your request, we have notified Information Systemsto provide a report for Personnel to upload. However, our system (data base)is completely down as of yesterday and is said to be "down" until sometime tomorrow. We need more time to fulfill your request. Thank you.
However, JJ was able to obtain a JPD employee roster in November without any problems so the city is capable of providing the records. Stay tuned.

You are very brave Kingfish.
Driving around Jackson is dangerous enough without having a reputation at City Hall and JPD as an uppity gumshoe with a knack for exposing corrupt dynasties.
They are hiding, it doesn’t take that long to pull these accessible records.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
It's not like someone has something to hide.
Is it?
I’m going to guess patrol officer numbers are below 175.
It might take HR about 10 minutes to fulfill this request.
So, in essence, JPD is telling you they do not know who their employees are?
Tom Hood is warming up in the bullpen. I know who is going to prevail.
