Yet another armed robber received a blessing from Hinds County Circuit Judge Tomie Green. Judge Tomie Green suspended a fifteen year prison sentence for Willie Dotstry in August after he was convicted of armed robbery. The treatment of Dotstry continues a pattern of suspended sentences issued by Judge Tomie Green to violent criminals.
A Hinds County grand jury indicted Dotstry in December 2014 for an armed carjacking in October 2014. Bond was set at $100,000 for the defendant. He pleaded guilty in November 2015 to the charge of Gun Armed Robbery. Judge Green sentenced him to serve 15 years in prison but suspended eight years of the sentenced and retained jurisdiction of the case for one year for resentencing "subject to completion of the RID program."
Dotstry completed the RID program and Judge Green indeed resentenced him in on August 29, 2016. Judge Green sentenced the carjacker, oops, make that armed robber to fifteen years in prison and probation for three years but suspended all fifteen years of the prison sentence and ordered his immediate release. Sound familiar?
Meanwhile, the case of Dotstry's accomplice, Martine Maberry, continues to plod along in Judge Winston Kidd's courtroom. Maberry was indicted at the same time as Dotstry yet Judge Kidd has continued his practice of allowing continuance after continuance even though the case is now over two years old.

She has to be getting money or other favors under the table by the attorney who represents Willie Dotstry.
Just out of curiosity, of all the criminals Tomie has blessed, how many have been Caucasian?
Does anyone know what judge lowered the bond from $300,000 to $100,000 for the man who killed the 4 men the other day? The $100,000 bond was for killing a man a while before the 4.
Where can these reduced sentences be submitted for review and investigation? This kind of justice throws mud at justice.
I doubt KF will post this.
Here's why the situation will never change. It's the same reason a bunch of dimwits continue to re-elect Kenneth Stokes.
It's all about getting back at whitey. Simple-minded constituents would rather "stick it to the man" by setting criminals free than elect a judge who puts them away. In the same way that speaking proper English is "acting white" or "selling out," enforcing laws and punishing criminals is "doing what white people want."
But it's nice that they can feel good about themselves. And they're very smart.
I hope that you are keeping all this info in one place, so to speak. If you're willing, it might come in handy around election time.
Speaking of elections, is there any word on the street about who will run for Tyrone Hendrix's seat on the Council?
Is there any punitive legal action that can be taken against Judge Green for this pattern of "catch and release"?
Kidd and Green are literally killing Hinds County. I wonder how many have died or been injured as a direct result of their leniency towards violent criminals?
Green is a disgrace to the bench, the robe she wears and the honest citizens (if there are any) in Jackson she is sworn to protect.
Since Hamin Shaheed appealed his murder conviction, the AG cross-appealed Judge Green's decision to suspend a portion of Shaheed's life sentence. The court of appeals vacated Judge Green's sentence and remanded the case with instructions for her to sentence him to life without parole.

My question is this: Why does Kingfish keep posting this litany of crap-justice without ever addressing what can be done to curb it? If the goal is to gather repetitive hits on a blog-post-calculator, I understand.
Tell me to "Hit The Tip Jar" in 3..2..1..
fACTS like these need to be placed on a timeline and any one of these offenders who commits another crime should be headlined in major paper or put on billboards. Love this blog and the good it does, but we need more coverage. BTW, how many cases is Judge Green averaging a month? Several years ago it was a pitiful few.
AND A LOT OF YOU CALL US JACKSON HATERS---I WONDER WHY !!!!!!!
I'M SO GLAD I SOLD MY BELHAVEN HOME IN NOVEMBER !!!!!!!
I MOVED MY BUSINESS TO FLOWOOD AND NOW MY HOME IS IN RANKIN COUNTY---HOW ABOUT THAT "BITCHES".
I DON'T HAVE TO CARRY A GUN FROM MY CAR TO MY FRONT DOOR ANYMORE (AT LEAST NOT FOR A WHILE) isn't life GRAND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm with 5:01. I sold my house in heatherwood and there are things about Jxn I miss but it is nice to be safe. Really it is nice that my family is safe now as that is all I really care about. I thought I could take care of myself until the whole Parrish thing happened. Nothing to me but proof I did the right thing.
Why does Kingfish keep posting this litany of crap-justice without ever addressing what can be done to curb it?
Why does it matter what KF chooses to publish?
I am another one who did the right thing. I moved out of Jackson years ago. I did work in Jackson and it would have been nice to live close to work. Finally decided my life was worth more.

I don't care for bitches that type in ALL CAPS.
Unless the powers that be are affected by these goons nothing's going to change. I'm sure if Benny or Kenny were robbed or shot this would change an the catch an release would cease .
Kidd has some shortcomings, as do all of us, but lenient sentencing isn't one of them. He routinely hands out serious time after a jury convicts, particularly in violent cases. He rarely departs from a sentence recommendation, or plea bargain, offered by the State.
I challenge KF to find a sentencing order where Kidd has given an armed robber a fully suspended sentence and probation or sent a violent offender to RID. Of course, this challenge and this comment are headed to file 13...
You idiots in Rankin who think you are safe are probably the next to get robbed. You aren't safe anywhere. Good Luck.

I noticed that you ended in all caps---so I guess you are a BITCH !!!
Maybe not but he can give out a low bond as well as anyone. See the history of Carolyn Temple's killers.
ALL CAPS @5:01 PM - It is unfortunate that you felt moving was your only recourse. If you felt so threatened in Belhaven I wonder why you didn't serve on one of the neighborhood associations to improve your community? But I can see how it's much easier to gloat living on the other side of the magical boundary called the Pearl River. What you and the other ex-patriots consistently fail to realize is that the vacuum you have left will eventually and inevitably suck you back in...
9:46, you are wrong. Jackson will continue to go down until something happens that makes the people decide to make a change. Then they will get rid of all of the light on crime judges, race baiters, thugs, and crooked city leaders. The city will come back but it is foolish to set in the cesspool until that day. That day is not coming very soon. I know it is very hard to believe but Jackson still has a ways to go.
20 years ago back in the early 90's, I worked for a locally owned grocery chain that had warehouses in the industrial park. I was standing in a lunch line waiting to get a plate. A black Jackson police officer behind me struck up a conversation with me. Just passing the time in the lunch line. During the course of the conversation he asked if I carried a firearm in my car. The question caught me by surprise and I really didnt know how I should answer but before I could answer he said "You're a fool if you dont working down here where you do." A week later I witnessed a shooting at the corner of Boling and Industrial drive. The man shot died in the ditch beside the old Sears warehouse.

False.
Robert Gibbs resigned. Kirk Fordice appointed EJ Russell. There was NO way a black judge appointed by a Republican could last. Tomie vacated her House seat and ran against EJ in the ensuing election. Crushed her. Never been close to losing, if she's even had a challenger in the intervening 20 years.
Is/was EJ Russell a female? The prior post is unclear.
