Yes, it's true.   State Senator did pay her $500 fine to the Secretary of State.

Glad to hear the MS Treasury is thus enriched by her mental block. Now if someone can just remove her from the Senate.

This woman is a total idiot. Who in their right mind would wait so long to pay 500 bucks and risk all the negative publicity?

I guess we'll find out where the $500 came from once she late files her next mandatory contribution report.

Why is Kingfish on this woman's ass? Big deal. Just goes to show, after all, Kingfish is in Cochran's pocket, deep and solid.

Damn 9:42. Its KF's fault that a State Senator did not feel she had to follow the state law that the other 171 legislators all followed? How is it Cochran's issue that Melanie did not follow the law? Same way that it was Cochran's fault that three folks broke into the Hinds County Courthouse? Of into a nursing home? Melanie herself, on her on accord decided that she didn't want to comply with the finance reporting requirements. Melanie herself, on her on accord, decided not to file it late, even after receiving multiple notices that she had not complied.

Now it's KF's fault that it is reported that this state lawmaker decided to finally comply. Damn - you must be an Obama supporter. Everything you don't like is somebody else's fault.

Actually nimrod Sojourner has followed the state law. She paid the fine.

Try to keep up 12:38. None of your garbled post makes sense. The point is, KF will (and has) do anything to jump this woman's case. Been that way since way back during Nursing-Home-Gate. She's a non-issue and always was. Just another way for KF to punch anybody remotely associated with Cochran's opponent.

Blast from KF in 3..2..1..

6:31, odd comment to imply that Sojourner was only remotely associated with McDaniel since she was his campaign manager. And yes, her conduct as a state senator and lack of compliance with state law is newsworthy. Saying she complied with the law because she paid a fine is like saying someone complied with the law when he paid a speeding ticket. Sort of a peculiar way of looking at it. One pays a fine because one violated the law in the first place. She violated the law, acted like no one else complied with the law (a lie), makes lame excuses, and finally pays a fine so she can get her state paycheck. And you don't think that kind of behavior by a public official is worthy of notice. Says a lot about you, don't you think?

12:38 is right. 6:31, 9:42 and probably 6:22 are just posting distractions to divert attention away from her failure to follow the rules everyone else is expected to follow.

MS dodged a bullet after that Republican primary. We could have ended up being represented by a fool like Akins or Christine O'Donnell, or Childers. Fortunately, once people realized that was a distinct possibility sensible people mobilized themselves to vote in the runoff.

I hope the good people of Natchez are embarrassed enough by this clownette to vote her out of office when they get the chance in 2015. Reelecting her would be inexcusable.

She followed the rules. She paid the fine.

I would have paid if she had come to my house and asked for it!!!!

Get a clue, 11:37. Obviously you are one of the zealots that think you only have to follow the rules that 'you like' while ignoring the rest.

The "rule" is that an elected official has to file their campaign finance report by January 31 of each non-election year. Despite your repeated claim to the opposite, she did not do that. Said in simple terms for you - she did not follow the rules. She did not follow the law. Thus, she was fined.

Glad she finally decided to pay the fine - something she also did not do timely.

I think 2:38 is hot for Melanie.

The Bottom Line said...

Fallacy Alert. Fallacy Alert. None of this means jack shit and diverts attention away from Barbour's puppettering of Cochran. You slugs, including the blog admin, are solidly in the pocket of these rich thugs and may not even know it.

Maybe this is the final nail in the coffin for those tea party Hicks. Thank God the Democrats helped us elect Thad Cochran.

Cochran's clear mind, famous work ethic, and youthful energy will surely stop the President's ilegal immigrant amnesty decree and unlawful implementation of ObamaCare.

There You Have It said...

I support 9:51's post for Hoot Of The Month. Cochran's clear mind? It took six axe handles and a Sears wrench to get the man to appear at the tail end of his election. He had to be led onto the stage.

Famous work ethic? You're more right than you know. He's famously famous for dodging and darting and coming down either neutral or to the left of conservative on most of his votes.

He'll stop the president's illegal amnesty? Where has he been on this issue for the past twenty years? The past ten? Last month? I'll tell you....nowhere. He crosses the aisle on these issues more often than dead folks cross over Jordan.

Bless your hearts. This is "news", whether you like it or not. I do think less of a senator if they are given every opportunity in the world to do their job, and they only come up with an excuse. You people excusing her are even worse. That's laziness and incompetence.

She deserved every bit of her penalty and I'm glad to hear she paid it, even if it was late (which does not go un-noted). No excuses.

(From someone that is female and does not profit one bit from Cochran being our Senator. That "excuse" is just laughable; some of you will try anything to deflect proper responsibility, which says it all.)

There's nothing the least bit conservative about an elected official thinking he or she is above the law, that the rules don't apply to them and they can abide by regulations at their own discretion and on their own timetable.

If anyone of us were to take our sweet time providing paperwork required by our government and/or paying fines for failure to comply, we'd get nailed for it.

But I admit it *is* pretty funny that the campaign manager for a candidate who claimed their imaginary regulations for a whites only Republican primary weren't strictly followed to the letter of their imaginary law is so loosey-goosey about following regulations which are *not* imaginary.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
