Eric Erickson charged the Republican establishment is preparing to abandon the fight to repeal Obamacare. He wrote on Redstate last week:
Conservative and Republican affiliated groups have started the 2014 assault against Democrats who support Obamacare. At the very same time, it is increasingly clear Republicans are laying the groundwork to abandon their opposition to Obamacare.
The Business Roundtable, which has a great relationship with Republican Leaders, is now listing Obamacare as an entitlement worth preserving.
Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former economic advisor to John McCain and who opposed passage of Obamacare, has started a think tank premised on keeping, but fixing, Obamacare. Holtz-Eakin has the ear of Republican leaders. In 2009, Mitch McConnell appointed him to the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission.
The Chamber of Commerce is declaring it will work to fix, not repeal, Obamacare. In fact, just last week the head of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said, “The administration is obviously committed to keeping the law in place, so the chamber has been working pragmatically to fix those parts of Obamacare that can be fixed.” (KF note: Check out Steve Law's connections to American Crossroads and the Chamber.).
Concurrent to this, the Chamber of Commerce has begun funding candidates to beat conservatives in Republican primaries.
The Republican Main Street Partnership, headed by former Congressman LaTourette — who is a friend of Speaker John Boehner — is working with the Chamber and party leaders to target conservatives the party leadership finds troublesome. LaTourette has been parroting talking points from the National Republican Senatorial Committee about the Senate Conservatives Fund, Club for Growth, and others.....
The lobbying groups who have open access to Republican leaders are abandoning repeal. The wonks the GOP leaders listen to are abandoning repeal. The outside groups the GOP leaders work with have begun attacking conservative candidates. The outside groups who help conservatives are being shut out by the party.
They are laying the groundwork to bail on fighting Obamacare. We’ve seen this coming for two years. They have fundraised again and again on opposing Obamacare. They have had multiple symbolic votes against Obamacare, but each time a meaningful vote has come up, they punt.
Now they are attacking the outside conservative groups who have held them accountable for their failure to act. Now they are targeting conservatives who will fight for full repeal.... Rest of post

At some point they must cease denying reality.
That's fine. The RINOs are hellbent to hasten the next depression and our upcoming civil war. Maybe there's something to be said for getting it over with.
I'd rather for my generation, the boomers, to face the music and bloodletting now for our stupidity rather than force my children and grandchildren to face decades of unending economic slavery.
If there is no chance to repeal, we must alter it as best we can.
Talk is cheap.
Good luck with your civil war, 9:45 a.m. You and the other extremists who make such destructive and hate filled comments need to consider getting organized and armed like they did in the Turner Diaries(Timothy Mc Veigh's "Bible"). Otherwise, your "civil war" won't last long. Maybe your militia group is doing this; that's the scary part.
If you so desperately won't to blow up our great country, why don't you move to another one and leave us be.
Thank you to those that are pushing the unelectable candidates against incumbent Republicans. Your 'headline' says "Republicans" but everybody this article quotes is "a friend of Republicans in Congress". This might as well have come from Chris McDaniels' talking points, which is where I am sure you got it.
I'm truly impressed - some writer of some column says that "Republicans" are dropping opposition. But nothing in the article supports this contention. But, thanks for trying - guess you can sell Chris an ad now, KF.
January 20, 2014 at 11:50 AM = a shining beacon of tolerance
Article is typical RINO pussification. They always find themselves in the same place: trying to "out Democrat the Democrats" Yep, same old thing: the Dems define the argument, and the Republicans simply play to it. RINOs never define their own arguments.
Basically, what I see happening here is the RINOs coming to the conclusion that they, TOO, can possibly, one day benefit from ObaMaoCare (politically, that is, as long as they're not personally subject to this health"care" disaster), so it's started not looking quite so bad.
Every time conservatives remain conservative, there is an OVERWHELMING surge of support......but they just can't seem to remember that for more than a few days at a time. They're too often lured into becoming "Democtat Lite," and that's why they've lost so much for so long. Just ask John McCain, and Mitt Romney.....
Irrespective of WHO designs a government-run healthcare system (based on the premise that a Republican "fixed" system will STILL be government-run), NO government should be involved in operating our healthcare system. Period.
Everything the government touches is, corrupt, wasteful, inefficient, etc.....and anyone with half a brain can see that's exactly where we're headed with this current healthcare fiasco!
Yea! What you said 5:05 !!
Krauthammer predicted this before the bill was ever signed into law. A paraphrase of what he said then: No government program is ever repealed, no matter which party introduces it. As long as we have squishy RINOs in the Congress (I'm thinking of one now), this is going to happen over and over.
Every day brings another failure from this stench called Obamacare. It should properly be renamed the Obama Unaffordable We Don't Care Act.
Or the Unaffordable Waste Product Act.
Unlike some other states, in Ms. we don't have to register as dimocraps or republicrats, so we are labeled independents. Many are fed-up with both "parties", and have lost interest. The dimocraps have dug themselves a black hole. Obviously the repubs are unstable, thus unreliable. One never knows what they are getting for their vote.
10:07
Of course you know what you are getting for their vote. Look at Thad's votes for the last 35 years. We're many trillions of dollars in debt, and live in a police state. Way to go, Thad. What a guy!
The RINOs think President Epic Liar has been culling the upper officer ranks of the military just for fun.
Ignorance is bliss when you underestimate your opposition. This is still a GOD fearing country and we will see a change at the ballot box in 2014. The Libs don't understand/know Conservatives. True Conservatives (not RINOs) know Libs, but can only attribute the lack of understanding as to why liberals are morally broken to GODlessness, which is almost always the case.
