Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

The dissent in this opinion is excellent.
roid rage
This is the same supreme court that refuses to overturn that illegal Hinds County Judge Winston Kidd's statewide "gun ban." Someone should really ask the question why skinner issued a warrant. These children involved were being sexually abused by the father and the mother did nothing. I really don't care to much for Judge Skinner, but in this instance, he tried to protect the children and got hammered for it.
5:38 LMFAO!!!!
He signed a warrant after he recused himself. He signed a warrant on an attorney that was having sex with his kids.
Skinner won this!
I think they should incarcerate the judge for seventy-two hours without notice or a hearing.
He signed a warrant on an attorney that was having sex with his kids.
Sounds like a matter for John Horhn.
Concur with 4:53. Shame that only two justices dissented.
skinner is an egomaniac...much like r. graham. it's scary that he's a judge.
nothing really for or against skinner, but he had recused himself, as did all Hinds County Judges because a staff member is related to the litigants. Another Judge from Warren County had been assigned, Skinner knew that and re-involved himself knowing he had a serious conflict. The Supreme Court was peeved that the JPC glossed over Skinner's FOUR previous appearances over judicial misconduct. If this was his first offense, I doubt he would be suspended, but he's a vague version of an habitual offender it appears.
The Supreme Court is allowing the litigants to file briefs and be heard. The case hasn't been there long enough for them to overturn Judge Kidd. It will happen in time. Meanwhile, just use your concealed permit...
This action is sort of like the scenario when the feds can only get a mobster for tax evasion or some other lesser charges than the more severe crimes they have perpetrated but can't completely be proven because people won't talk. I hope the SPLC and others will make good on their previous threats to go after him for the constitutional abuses he has perpetrated on children and their parents. August 1, 7:38 is exactly right.
Why didn't Thompson make the news when it happened? This is big news! His own kids, sick bastard, sick.
@8:25 am
1) Judge Skinner broke the law.
2) He knew he should not be involved in this case and correctly recused himself.
No matter what the circumstances surrounding the case, if a JUDGE will not abide by the law, then there is a problem.
Skinner should have contacted the correct judge and sent the law enforcement guys to that judge. Instead, he break the law.
Kind of hard for a judge to rule over others when he himself cannot uphold the law. He could have upheld the law and been an example of good behavior and abiding by the canons. Instead, he broke the law just like the people who come before him.
THAT is the point of this case.
Instead of pointing to the real animal in this situation, we are beating down the only person that did something right. He saw only one way to protect those girls in that moment and he did it. Now whether or not we all agree with how he did it, he did it and a man that had been sexually abusing his children for over 10 years was punished due to it. (Not punished hard enough in my opinion) But I guess when you're a prominent, Caucasian attorney within Hinds County you can just kind of make things like molesting your three daughters go away. This is sick!
ah yes....Judge Skinner gets punished for trying to protect children and the man that participated in the MURDER of a Jackson police officer (Lt.Skinner) get REWARDED by being elected the mayor of Jackson..hmmmmmm....
11:59 am, you are MISSING THE POINT. Everyone could have been protected AND the judge could have followed the law.
There are millions of horrible cases out there---should every judge just pick which laws they are going to uphold and which ones they are going to throw away?
Skinner is good/Skinner is bad---this is not the case we are discussing. This case is about a sitting Judge not following the laws and canons.
If you want to change the law to say---in this or that type of case, the judges can write their own laws and rules---I think you'll understand why that's not a good idea....
I'm not missing the point at all.
How are you so sure that everyone could have been protected? When the warrant was signed, Thompson was getting ready to flee the state with his wife and daughters. What would have happened if Skinner didn't sign the warrant and the girls came up dead or molested again? I believe you are assuming that Skinner didn't think this through. He was presented information by credible authority and he took action. He was damned either away.
Judges who throw people in jail can do so without any criminal or civil liability. They have darned-near absolute immunity.
That makes it all the more important to discipline judges who break the rules.
You really do not want judges going "hey, it's against the rules, but I think it's for a good cause." Certainly not if you disagreed with Winston Kidd's injunction on the open-carry bill.
"When the warrant was signed, Thompson was getting ready to flee the state with his wife and daughters."
You have a link for that, right?
I've been working on this one throughout the day. That is indeed what Judge was told by law enforcement personnel who appeared in his court.
No, I don't have a link for it but if you go and read Skinner's response to the complaint and do some research and read the record, it clearly shows that when the captain of the Hinds County Sheriff's Department, two deputies, a US Marshall, and a Hinds County prosecutor showed up in open court that is the evidence that they presented. Thompson's wife was allowing him to be around his daughters which was a direct violation of the no contact order and they were getting ready to flee the state. This information was given to the above said authorities by Thompson's brother.
Any other information you need to be filled in on to make your opinion more solid?
My opinion is based off of facts, not based on a two paragraph article written about Skinner. Do some research please.
So, when all these law enforcement officials showed up in his court, did Skinner make any attempt to contact the judge to who the case had been assigned, so that the correct judge could issue the orders? Make a phone call, send an email, anything???? After he issued the order, did Skinner do anything to contact the correct judge and make him aware of what happened? Are there any facts in the record on that?
those cops should have been on-scene protecting the children, not in court seeking an unnecessary arrest warrant. they could have intervened without a warrant. Skinner may have good intentions, but he broke the law in several ways. Considering his past violations and the number of them, he got off light. nobody would admire the criminal and the evil things he was doing, but the rule of law is paramount in our civilized society.
I have no idea about his "past violations" but it seemed like he recognized an immediate, clear and present danger and protected the children regardless of the risk for his professional standing.
Skinner will always choose to protect a child over himself. If that makes him wrong, so be it.
I would share a foxhole with Skinner before any of you pussies.
What would Senator John Horhny do?
He's the hero Jackson deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a tan knight.
