Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Robert who??
On sale now at Choctaw Books!
You can find the book in the "Fiction" section.
I'm a Rebel, but this is typical of Ole Miss people. This is about as accurate as the SEC West Champions 2003 sign we hung up in the Vaught. Embarrassing.
Next to Lincoln, the 'greatest scoundrel, unhung'.
I may buy it as a companion piece for my book written by Lou Tepper about defense
This ... is the Most Important Document in Human History ... brought to you by the Harvard of the South.
(Cue banjo playing "Dixie.")
Harvard of the south? I don't see Millsaps mentioned here.
can I ask a question as someone clearly not in the know? What did robert khayat do that pissed people off so badly? I graduated from ole miss the year he retired. he was always nice to me when I saw him (aka served him food)
What ever happened to Lou Tepper? How long did he say it took to install his system? 8 years?
4:56- Khayat was very successful. This is more than enough to piss off people with chips on their shoulders about their own careers, or hang ups about confederate symbols which filled the same pride void.
August 1, 2013 at 7:54 PM = the anonymous authority
One thing that Khayat did that pissed off a lot of people was write a letter on University of Mississippi letterhead asking a federal judge to be lenient in sentencing his good childhood buddy Dickie Scruggs in the judicial bribery scandal. Such may have been appropriate on his own personal stationary, but not on behalf of the University. Same for the stupid dean of the law school at the time (I forget his name but he was also a Pascagoula boy), who did the same thing. It all suggests that, in the quest to become something better, the University was selling out its principles to the highest bidder, even a felon.
A little off topic, but I recently ran into a combat veteran of the 101st Airborne Division's shock and awe assault on Ole Miss in October, 1962. His name is John Purvis from Calhoun, Georgia, and he and his wife were in route to the casinos on the Coast... a trip that they make every year. Georgia has no casinos. He participated in an air assault via a Huey helicopter, repelling down to what he described as a "soccer field." On the way down he was shot in the buttoks-Forrest Gump style-- by what the medic described as a small caliber weapon...probably a 22 caliber. He was hard of hearing and his wife said that after the Ole Miss mission, he participated in Operation Cold Eagle, suffering sever frostbite that affects his work as a locksmith in Calhoun. She claims that 44% of the soldiers on that mission suffered frosbite. He receives a stipend of $4.00 per month.
If you don't buy this book, Andy Kennedy says it will be an "international incident."
Maybe the University should return all of Scruggs contributions to the taxpayers with interest?
Hey Pugnacious ,
Rumor has it that the 101st Airborne Division medics reported that they were not equipped to treat the overwhelming number of
buck shot wounds to the ass ( sustained by the paratroops floating down on Water Valley) . The drop zone was miles off target.
JFK was pissed - but that's not in the history books.
Don't know if that's true, but it sound's about right.
This post is not meant as a criticism of Khayat but more as poking fun at the promotion itself.
@4:56 m. 8:29 pm nailed it. That entire scenario was dumbfounding.
Many wrote letters to Judge Biggers regarding Scruggs (Dick and Zack), Backstrom, Balducci, Langston, Patterson, etc., some supporting the group and some not supporting them. The letters were published. Robert Khayat, Chancellor of Ole Miss, wrote the Judge, on Ole Miss stationary, pleading for leniency for Scruggs. “Throughout his adult life he has been a model citizen…” “any time he spends being incarcerated is an absolute waste of a great deal of talent and ability” then the kicker: “it would appear to be a waste of taxpayers' money” to put him in jail.
Khayat also wrote letter to Judge on behalf of Backstrom “No doubt punishment must be imposed for his plea, but it seems a waste to incarcerate a man who has lived a sterling life.”
Also writing on behalf of Scruggs from Ole Miss was Khayat’s assistant Andy Mullins, Law School Dean Samuel M. Davis, Athletics Director Pete Boone and Vaughn L. Grisham, professor and director of the Ole Miss College of Liberal Arts. And the guy who wrote a book on Scruggs, a flattering book, claiming to be unbiased, well, his letter supporting Scruggs was also in that batch.
Judge Biggers did an extraordinary job with this case. His sentencing document is incredible. “And yet you - - you neither thought you needed money or did need money; yet you committed a reprehensible crime which, in my opinion, is one of the most reprehensible crimes that a lawyer can commit, the corruption of the rule of law which he' s sworn to uphold. And you did that just to give yourself a better position in a lawsuit…” “I’ve heard it described by some that it was greed. I’ve heard some describe and say it was avarice. I 've heard some say that you did it simply because you thought you could, that you' d done it before and you thought you could do it - - and you felt you could do it again. And I ' m going to leave it up to others to ascribe to you the motive that you had in your mind when you chose to do it…..And there' s no doubt that you did it. I’ve heard the tapes. I’ve heard you say you did it. One of the worst crimes a lawyer can commit…..And I received these letters from your friends about how sentencing would affect you and your wife and your daughter, and I have sympathy for you in that respect. Your wife, I understand, is a fine lady; and her health is very delicate. But there’s no question that your wife and daughter are going to be better provided for in your absence than anybody else I’ve ever heard that has come before the Court……..It’s further ordered that you should pay a fine in the amount of $250,000 to the court clerk’s office, a lump sum payment of $250,000 will be due in 30 days. And that will be for the purpose of - - as one person who wrote a letter said, he thought sending you to prison would be a waste of the taxpayer’s money. To alleviate any concerns for that person, the taxpayers won’t have to pay for your incarceration; you'll pay for it yourself.”
Don't know if that's true, but it sound's about right.
Probably so, but I suspect the shooters were using #6 birdshot instead of buckshot, as this was right about the time of the opening of dove season.
if RK wrote this about Scruggs then he did not know Scruggs or he is a liar.
Ironic that most um students will be too drunk/high to read it and most football players unable to read it stone sober.
8:54 Are you saying that Curtis Wilkie (author of "The Fall of the House of Zeus") also wrote a letter to Judge Biggers is support of Scruggs?
So much to independent writing.
I recently read the book and Baldy/Patterson take the hit and it is easy of Scruggs.
Before the adoption of Dixie as the National anthem, secessionists patriots and local militiamen marched to the music and words of the La Marseillais.
Later, a Southern Marseillais hymn withSouthern" lyrics became the "fight" song. Informative reading in Willaim C. Davis' 1984 release of A Govermnent of Our Own:The Making of the Confederacy. In reference to your comments on the despot Abraham Lincoln, author Davis reveals that following the election of President Davis in Montgomery, "two of Mary Todd Lincoln's sisters came through the receiving line, making a point of telling Davis that their relationship was to Lincoln's wife and not to himself. But their blood relationship to Breckenridge, they added, ought to atone for any matrimonial mistakes."
http://www.pdmusic.org/civilwar2/61sm.txt
Okay. I’m starting to understand a little bit. Khayat wrote a letter on Ole Miss stationary supportive of a big……scratch that - HUGE donor. In the end, the letter apparently did not have any effect. Of course, unlike Bernie Ebbers, this HUGE donor will still be a very wealthy man when he is permanently released from prison.
So??? What else you got?
What else you need? The personal letter on business letterhead was improper. Period. Next question?
OMG! Khayat is an imperfect human who didn't please everyone?!?
The marketing is over the top as well.
First time EVER , I've seen excess in marketing, too.
I'm stunned...just stunned!
LMAO comparing Dickie to Bernie. Too funny. Is that you Curtis?
9:44 am poster says, "What else you need? The personal letter on business letterhead was improper. Period."
Is that really so bad? The purpose of the letter was to let Judge Biggers know how generous Dickie had been to Ole Miss. That doesn't seem so horrible to me. Judge Biggers was free to then determine the relevancy of that information. It appears he concluded either it wasn’t relevant or it wasn’t consequential. I'm not sure Khayat's sharing that information on Ole Miss letterhead and asking for it to be considered was inappropriate. Ole Miss is an educational charity. Why wouldn’t it be acceptable for the head of any educational charity in his/her official capacity to inform a court about a defendant’s past generosity to that charity?
8:07, read the quotes from the letter posted above at 8:54. The letter went way beyond saying money had been donated to Ole Miss. Maybe that doesn't bother you, but it did bother a lot of people. It was poor judgment to send the letter on behalf of the University. If he was trying to aid his personal friend, he should have sent the letter on his personal stationary.
Having said that, Robert Khayat has done a lot of great things for Ole Miss. I do not discount those things because I happen to disagree with what he did on this particular matter.
"Scruggs was a big donor" was worth considering to perhaps reduce his sentence. RK asked that no time be served at all.
Remember, RK was a former dean of the law school and a law prof. He regarded a vile breach of professional conduct as something meriting no time served.
12:29 makes a good point. RK, as well as the then current dean of the law school should not - either on personal or official letterhead - condone the actions that Scruggs did to the judicial system in Mississippi. I would hope that the UM Law School doesn't condone the purchasing, and the attempting to purchase, Judges. RK and the Dean evidently chose to overlook the way that Scruggs made his billions just because he was willing to share some of it with their University.
And, using UM letterhead didn't just speak for the University, it is also a "State supported" university - and he damn sure wasn't speaking for me and many other citizens.
