Remember the Coates family? Daughter is already out on house arrest.
Didn't even serve one year in jail before MDOC turned her loose, oops, I meant placed her on house arrest. You may remember the Coates family. The father was David Coates, football coach at Northwest Rankin High School. Joseph Patrick Coates is her brother and serving 44 years for drug dealing. The father died of a heart attack before he went to trial. Background story. Check out the public section of her Facebook page. Most of the pictures were taken after her status change.

Don't remember the Coates family. What did they do, sell meth? Maybe you could post a link.
The link is in the story.
You have to use a JFP link to get this story?
There is no story, David is dead and Patrick has helped the myth of Mike Guest.

I had to Lysol my computer.
Well, since Daddy's dead, I bet there's a low chance of a repeat offense from her.
It's a drug crime. Stated differently, perhaps her absence from incarceration frees up space for a real criminal.
May she make the best of a new start.
Umm, Daddy came in secondary to the son and daughter. And she doesn't look under house arrest outside having a good time.
Does the MDOC have the authority on its own to alter a criminal's sentence? Isn't there some requirement that the Parole Board, or a judge alter the execution of the sentence? Does anyone know?
I don't know, bill. Why don't you go ask a real journalist
I'm a real prosecutor. There are two types of "house arrest", otherwise known as "intensive supervision". Both feature the offender being placed in a qualified home [no drugs, no alcohol, etc] and has an electronic bracelet placed on their body. If they leave the premises, the bracelet notifies MDOC that the offender as violated. It can be programmed to allow the offender to go to work, school, and church. Back to the two versions: first is that imposed by a Judge as part of the sentence; second is called "administrative house arrest" and is done "administratively" by MDOC. This second program is widely condemned by Judges and the DAs. To no avail...
I'm sure she's "fee" on administrative house arrest.
KF, if I could edit your comment, I would add "And that's the way it is" to add a proper closing to this reporter's coverage.
3:23; I'm sure you don't have an administrative aide to proofread your posts before you click 'enter', but at least give them a quick scan.
12:27pm...There wasn't a link when I posted my comment. That's why I asked for one. Thanks for posting the bloody obvious after the fact. You must be a JFPer.

Good for her. I hope she lives a happy and blessed life. People are quick to judge a person based on their past. I think its a blessing that she got out, and is starting her life over. Good for her. As for her brother, I hope he makes the best of a bad situation that he placed himself in. It's easy for everyone to point fingers, but I am happy for her and hope she lives a great life with her new husband to be. As for her fathers death, that is an unfortunate event, but only God knows when our last day will be and it is up to us to be ready. This family is in my prayers.
