A review of mileage records for the Hinds County Board of Supervisors reveals District 1 Supervisor Robert Graham had two county-owned vehicles assigned to him for all but a few months of his term. Mr. Graham is the only supervisor to receive two cars at the same time. The county provides each Supervisor with a car. Mr. Graham received one for himself and one for his assistant (Special Projects Officer), Flo Smith. Each supervisor has an assistant whose salary is paid by the county. However, the county did not assign vehicles to any of the other assistants. Mr. Graham's mileage records report 73,509 miles during the term used by the two vehicles and fuel charges of $11,717. Mr. Graham logged more miles than any other supervisor and recorded the second-highest fuel charges after George Smith ($14,457). What is interesting is Mr. Graham represents arguably the smallest district in Hinds County. Supervisor Hobson-Calhoun represents a district of similar size and recorded only 17,141 miles and fuel charges of $3,750.
The records state the following cars were assigned to the Supervisors in the following years:
Robert Graham: 2000 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
Doug Anderson: 2000 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
Peggy Hobson-Calhoun: 2000 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
Phil Fisher: 1997 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
George Smith: 2000 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
Flo Smith: 2000 Ford Crown Victoria (2008. Ms Smith is Mr. Graham's assistant)
Robert Graham: 2008 Chevy Impala (2008. Car was changed).
Doug Anderson: 2008 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
George Smith: 2008 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
No supervisor received another car from the county after 2008. Supervisors Fisher and Hobson-Calhoun did not obtain new cars in 2008 but instead drive 1997 and 2000 Ford Crown Victorias to this day. Supervisors Smith, Anderson, and Graham all obtained 2008 (model year) cars several months after the start of the 2008 term.
Supervisor/Fuel Costs/Mileage
1. Robert Graham: $11,727/ 73,509 miles
2. Doug Anderson: $9,936/ 63,173 miles
3. Peggy Hobson-Calhoun: $3,750/ 17,141 miles
4. Phil Fisher: $2,288/ 11,554 miles
5. George Smith: $14,457/ 68,862 miles
Actual miles for Mr. Graham: 50,780; Flo Smith: 22,728.

73 THOUSAND miles my foot! Where was he going? Doesn't he have the smallest District in the entire county?
Maybe Flo is out checking on tornado sirens and radio batteries?
Just wait until ol Kenny gets on board and starts traveling
not looking forward to that.
I think Kenny is going to require at least a Humvee or perhaps Harvey's pride ride bus.
This is obvious fraud. Surely someone in authority can and is looking into this. Graham should be removed from office and required to pay back the county.
And, it obvious there are not sufficient controls and oversight in the system to prevent such abuse!
Who has the authority to investigate? It's time we made them do their JOB!
Also, word is that he puts out signs for Graham and another candidate while in Co. issued car. Maybe you need to follow him around one day and try to get pictures.
Lieutenant needs to be removed ASAP . I hope Stokes is limited to one term .
Get used to Stokes as supervisor. He'll be there as long as he wants to be.
Dorsey Carson supports the re-election of Robert Graham.
Per the point made by 12:59....I think that's dead right. He'll be there until he goes to that big taco stand in the sky.
So what. Bill Denny is a tool.
another issue that our "do nothing" State Auditor could and should look at, but obviously he is in the pockets of these corrupt bastards. He and his crew hide behind anything and everything to keep from looking for corruption even when it is staring them in the face.
He thinks he wants to be a US Senator? Ha. He'll be lucky if he could even be elected a MS State Senator again, based on his record of "accomplishments"!!
Mr. Pickering - go do your job and at least expose the corruption. If AG Hood refuses to prosecute, then we can place the blame there. But right now - its in your baileywick.
That is the problem when you are a Democrat trying like mad to obscure your party affiliation. You're still expected to back the Democrat's other candidates no matter how terrible they are like Lt. Graham.
If Denny is a tool for his support of John Dennery then Carson must be nothing short of a fool for backing a complete police impersonating incompetent like Graham.
As he did in 2008 Dorsey Carson is backing Barack Obama for POTUS in 2012.
Look you bunch of Halloween pumpkins; Robert needs a Crown Vic to tour visiting industrial prospects around the district. And he needs a pickup with mud grips and chrome, verticle lakes pipes for the roads that are hard to negotiate. I guess you want him to ride in a Hyundai! Sheesh!
Well obviously he needs two cars, one car can radio in to Hinds County and the other car can radio in with JPD and Byram.
this is total abuse here. Some things in the realm of being a public official can be deemed necessary but the paperwork matrix is very easy to see through. these guys need some restrictions on these cars. and as a taxpayer I am tired of footing the bill for TRASH like this.
Wonder if he used any of these cars to conduct his training seminars i.e. for his personal business?
Stacy Pickering is scared to do his job!
WOW WOW WOW
That is a Lights Out mailer from the Dennery campaign!!!
Now we're talking.
Wonder if he used any of these cars to conduct his training seminars i.e. for his personal business?
If you look through the links of records KF posted there are some clear patterns.
For instance 9-10 months out of the year(s) Graham fills up in Jackson, goes ~300 or so miles and 2-3 days later fills up again in Jackson. You can tell he's going somewhere on the freeway because his MPG goes up versus that measured by his other fill-ups. Then there is the four day round trip jaunt down to Biloxi where he racked up over 600 miles on the car that should have been 400 miles max down to the coast and back.
He starts clocking miles on the new Chevrolet in May '08 and 41 months later he's racked up over 50,000 on the car. Where the hell is he going?
somewhere doing things he has no business and that we pay for. this is really rediculous. the abuse these guys go for on our $$ is upsettign me.
The mileage/fuel cost is excessive but in itself doesnt prove anything illegal. You would have to check his vehicle mileage logs which he probably doesnt keep. State workers have to keep them but not sure about supervisors. Pickering is not going to do a thing, he was caught misusing a vehicle last year and is still pissed that he cant get a vehicle that he can do anything at anytime.
Reminds me of former mayor Tommy Longo in Waveland MS. He was using his city gas card to put fuel in his personal vehicle. He beat the charges but at least that DA had the balls to prosecute him for theft. Makes me glad I'm buying my retirement property in Hancock Co.
Bill Denny received the National Federation of Independent Business endorsement.

Thanks to all ,
Very good observations about Pickering .
These allegations make's one ask questions.
One politician with a briefcase will steal more than a hundred men with guns..........
Yall put that crooked jackwaggon in office! ya knew what a sleezebag he was! GET HIM OUT!!!!!VOTE!!!!!
Let me tell you Tommy Longo should not have beat those charges.Just like Robert Graham should be prosecuted for the cheating and stealing that he has done. I am from Hinds County, but, my husband is from Hancock County so that is where we live. My husband and I were in New Orleans one weekend and at 7:00 am on Sunday morning we were standing on a street corner in the French Quarter about to cross the street and we stopped because a car came wheeling around the corner and there he was Tommy Longo in his county car. He was going by so fast that he didn't see who were were. If he had he would have probably wrecked the car. My husband at one time held political office in the county.Wish I could have gone and testified in court. Anyway, like Tommy Longo, Robert Graham is guilty and thinks that he is above the law and has chosen to grind us taxpayers into the ground! And yes, I am still a Hinds County property owner and taxpayer. Any greedy, fraudulent person in office today should realize that people are getting fed up!
So, are we all decided that Pickering is the one to blame for allowing this to go on? Should we take our pitchforks and torches over to his castle? Let's DO something about this.
The fact of the matter is that we have to REMOVE the infections which are present. THese guys play politics the same way as you let a neighbor borrow a rake or a shovel. They are all in the same heirchy. We need honest people right now running our public offices. We are behind enough as it is.
I forgot about the Stacey Pickering car mess! That's exactly why he won't stand up to Graham! It would ruin his political aspirations, and we all know he has no b@lls.
Pickering was busted misusing his state vehicle but of course that issue went away. His car is also unmarked because he said a county official threated him because he was in the auditors car. Did he report the threat on a public offical. No because it didnt happen. He wants it unmarked so he can travel anywhere even on personal time in it and not be noticed. He is pissed that he cannot have a car without restrictions to this day. entitlement politician.
I'm asking because I don't know: Does some municipal, county or state official have to REQUEST Pickering's involvement (sort of like a state requesting the FBI), or can he independently launch an investigation?
How does Graham drive 2 cars at one time?
Woah. Just caught wind of a press conference at city hall today at 3:30 taking one Robert Graham to task. Any other onformation?
