The Mississippi Department of Transportation issued the following statement.

WHO: The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT).
WHAT: Crews wrapped up a roadway repair on State Route 43 well ahead of schedule and have reopened the roadway.
WHEN: Monday, August 11, 2025.
WHERE: SR 43 between State Route 471 and the Natchez Trace Parkway in Rankin County.
WHY: The closure, which called for a void repair underneath a bridge approach, began on July 28. The contract allowed two months to complete the repair. Crews completed the work in two weeks.

thanks to Trump’s tarriffs, MDOT was unable to afford those ahovels that stand around on their own. So they had to get this done FAST!
Not to worry. Leake county folks could still get their beer anyway.
Was this the result of a good repair crew, or a poor estimate by the engineers.

Proud for Tommy's Trading Post none the least- it matters when Hwy's are shut down.
Hopefully the contractor received a spiff. We need to reward performance that exceeds expectations.
