Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statements.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department along other law enforcement agencies responded to Northwest Rankin High, Northwest Rankin Middle, and Northwest Rankin Elementary due to a threat called into Northwest Rankin Middle School.
At this time those schools are under controlled movement while the law enforcement investigation is being conducted. We are working closely with the Rankin County School District.
Our top priority is the safety of students and staff.

Schools back in. Let the games begin.
Can anyone cite a single occurrence of a bomb threat producing tangible results? Of the thousands of bomb threats, none has ever produced a bomb. Getting out early on Friday is the goal.
Remember pipe bomb necklace man that robbed a bank...that rabbit hoke is deep and wide.
It’s a freshmen rite of passage at NWR to call in bomb threats when you are too young to be prosecuted.
If they can just catch ONE person doing this and then put them in jail for 20 years......it would stop. At least the STUDENTS doing it would.
