State Treasurer David McRae blasted Congressman Bennie Thompson over his criticism of the newly-created Trump accounts. Mr. McRae said on social media:
Check out this TRUTH: Bennie Thompson wants your family to "pass" on a $1,000 investment into your newborn baby (but he's cosponsored similar programs in the past). Why the change?

Bennie says no for the same reason Pres. Trump tore up Obama's agreement with Iran then presented the same agreement as a "victory negotiation" when it was his turn. Both parties are playing shell games with their ignorant constituents casting the other as evil while pursuing more power on their own terms.
Bennie just does what he is told. And you can be sure nobody ever tells him to think.
This was as expected. Bennie doesn't give a rat's rear about the people. Fattening Bennie's wallet and Bennie's power is what Bennie wants.
Re-draw the districts and get Bennie the Boil off the butt of Mississippi!
I nominate 1:15 as the dumbest post of the year. Obama gave Iran money and helped enable Iran's nuclear program. Trump destroyed Iran's nuclear program.
It doesn’t mater if you’re conservative, moderate, or progressive - if you take Bennie’s advice and turn down a free $1,000 account for your child, you are industrial strength stupid.
2:07 Pass the Kool-Aid.
I’m not happy until Bennie’s not happy.
Well uncle Bennie’s can afford to pass on a Trump account bc he’s earned millions but most of his constituents can’t afford to pass on them. He’s an absolute horrible person.
Actually pallets of money.
Bennie Thompson, the shabbiest member of the shabbiest U.S. government institution. Nothing but a useful idiot.
But they will go to the mat for the scoundrel.
If Bennie's voter base got themselves out of poverty he would stop getting elected. Keeping his district poor is in his best interest.
Obama gave Iran their money that we had sanctioned in order for them not to enrich uranium. Trump tore up the agreement in 2018 and Iran enriched uranium to 60% and so here we are today because of dumbasses like you and others on this board that vote for republicans.
You could say that about the entire state of Mississippi.
Bennie hasn't "earned" millions.
This account would do more to lift his people out of poverty (highest in the Nation) than anything he has ever done in 34 years of being paid by we the people. It is childish behavior that hurts his constituents all because of the name that will change in two years?
They're both members of the same club, and we're not in it.
Bennie is a complete joke! He has done nothing for his constituents, he wants them to be poor and needy ! Trump giving $1000 to start a savings account is a great opportunity for parents ! He is just a disgusting politician!

If this were being graded as a pop quiz in Trolling 101 at, say, Vanderbilt, it'd be a C- at best, but at, say, Millsaps (today), its darned near A- work. Or its a term paper for a senior-level Foreign Relations class at Old Missed.
I read a Washington Post article that was not very keen on the long term aspects of the Trump Accounts but did suggest setting one up simply for the initial $1000 investment. I was not surprised to see that in order to finish setting up the accounts you will need to install the ‘Trump Accounts App’ on your phone. Not surprised at all.
The biggest point I think the writer made is that these accounts are somehow supposed to help low and middle income families move into financial security. According to Math, at age 18 the initial $1000 will grow into $6000 for the child. Low and middle income families most likely will not have any extra cash to add to the account while raising that child. Then, once of legal age, the child can do whatever they want with the money. Anything. Examples include buy a car or take a vacation. As some here already know, cashing out the account which becomes an IRA at age 18 will have taxable implications. Also, the account will be taken into consideration when filling out FAFSA.
In other words, it's all just a shell game with your money.
Thanks 902 and how these accounts are managed will be a problem as was the 401Ks. The latter were gifts to brokers and banks because the family receiving it had no say in which stocks were in it and invariably " dogs" were tucked into every plan. Retirement plans need to be managed by the "retiree" and savings by those saving their money! Once upon a time not so long ago, Americans could buy their own stocks directly!
My son signed his baby up yesterday.
Yet democrats stand in line when food stamps, Medicaid and Section 8 are handed out, but noooooo to Republican money in a savings account. If Trumps for it surely it;'s bad, right Bennie?
