Jackson is going to lose Chick-Fil-A. Chick-Fil-A will close the East County Line Road store in Jackson and move down the street into the site of the old Logan's Roadhouse. The Ridgeland Board of Ealdormen are expected to approve the company's application tonight.
The new location will be an improvement over the current site. The restaurant will expand from a cramped 5,300 sf at the current site to a more comfortable 8,128 sf at the new location. Interstate customers will enjoy quicker access as Chick-Fil-A will be smack dab right next to I-55.
Approval of the site plan and conditional use permit application is on the agenda for the Ridgeland Board of Ealdormen meeting taking place tonight.

More than just the potholes in that location; itn was not an easy access or exit' doesn't fit the Chic mode of operation.
Hate that it is leaving Jackson, but from a business decision, this certainly looks like a winning move. The Logan's location has been empty long enough that the rent difference of north/south of County Line shouldn't be a significant factor.
it will be top shelf. or right next to it
Jackson doing Jackson things.
Can someone tell me exactly where Logan’s was?
And Ridgeland is getting a Dave & Busters too next to top golf

8:23 Dave and Busters Ridgeland will be a disaster. The unemployed culture will somehow have the cash to take their unemployed-in-training kids to enjoy it. It will be loud, rude, smell like pot, and uninviting for the upper class. Will be like going to Chuck E. Cheese on County Line. And best of all, it will be in PRADO village. God help Ridgeland.
County Line @ State St.
Jackson allowing the surrounding streets to just disintegrate, never re-stripe our maintenance overlay......and the continued vagrancy. The city is going to have to recognize that it has to protect the businesses that produce tax revenue and keep streets manageable and in good condition, and police presence......and this nonsense of allowing the panhandling. It has to stop, and if the ACLU is holding the city hostage over threat of a lawsuit for a vagrants right to panhandle, then the city needs to grow a backbone
Jackson has never been concerned with retaining business.
Chris knew what he was doing when he dumped that location.

Ridgewood Court used to be good pasture. Too bad it is cost prohibitive to return it to even that state.
Please listen! I know I know this will piss people off but I am very serious it’s time to have a conversation about moving the state capital out of Jackson. We can’t let Jackson drag the whole state down
I will tell you as a NE Jackson resident that helped campaign for our new mayor… I’m beyond disappointed and he’s lost a lot of ppl that helped him win office. Mostly with his poor decision on fighting for the water and appointing this moron police chief
I dont go to CFA because people make a mockery of it - not going to wait in line for an extended period of time for mediocre fast food or even fine dining. However, if I did, I would feel safer going to the Jackson location rather than the newly proposed Ridgeland location - remember, a female who was travelling intown for work-related purposes was murdered in that parking lot several years ago.
8:23 nailed it. The Culture ruins every business it patronizes. Every single one.
8:56 PM, the people of Ridgeland get what they voted for….Mayor Gene F. McGee since 1989.
How many apartment units were built in Ridgeland since Gene F. McGee took office as Mayor?
Then years after issuing the bldg. permits, McGee’s ordinances requiring apartment complex owners to start tearing down bldgs were so egregious that multiple state and federal lawsuits against the City of Ridgeland over property rights and constitutional issues were filed, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development notified the City of Ridgeland that the agency suspected it was violating the federal Fair Housing Act with plans to displace thousands of apartment residents, many of whom were minorities (sources The Wall Street Journal, Mississippi Business Journal May 2016).
And now, Ridgeland Mayor Gene F. McGee has teamed up with Madison County Stupervisor Gerald Steen, and turned the county of Madison over to Democrats. Again, the people of Ridgeland get what they voted for, and Madison Countians need to understand what’s coming under Democrat control (see Jackson, MS).
Yesterday I waited 40 minutes in the drive-thru at the Chic-Fila location on the parkway to get a chic fila sandwich, fries & a drink. Maybe the new location will take a little traffic off the parkway location.
That would require a huge tow truck or flat bed.
I hate going to that one. It is the slowest of them all in this area. Service at the Jackson one is actually pretty good.
It's a vast left-wing conspiracy led by the SPLC. You read it here first.
I love how a restaurant basically moving from one side of County Line to the other is this huge loss for Jackson. While technically it is leaving the Capital, it will literally be down the street.
The new location will provide easier access for the S. Jackson thugs.
How many people have been murdered in Jackson since then??? Several hundred? You cannot be serious. Plus, you have a different style of cop and a different prosecutor that will send your ass upstate.
It makes a huge difference due to a different local government but more importantly a difference police department.
The business decisions made when certain businesses move or locate outside Jackson do not matter. It's always Jackson's fault. If a business closes or moves from Madison, Clinton, or Pearl it's an act of God, just business, it's unavoidable... but Jackson? Let's give it a rest. Sometime.
I don’t eat “fast food” very often. Just can’t justify the cost. But I will say this, Wendy’s has become the worst. Dave’s Hot and Juicy burgers have become Dave’s Dry and Tasteless burgers. Absolutely terrible. Burger King has pretty good hamburgers, and I do enjoy one occasionally.
@8:10 I couldn't agree more!!! I read this article until the end and questioned how a business decision to relocate literally 1 mile away on the other side of the road suddenly meant Jackson had fallen.........its a bigger venue to sell more chicken,, and they prob got it for a song so why not???
Will one of our Jackson restaurant “gurus” take over this prime empty location or nah, just another steamy, juicy, kickin seafood place?
8:10, that's a LOT of tax Dollars they're losing (and Ridgeland's gaining).
I think the point is that its a loss to tax revenue for Jackson.
Not that it moved super far away.
One upside is that if there is a shooting in the drive-thru, it will be prosecuted in Madison County!
Probably just another place for the homeless to shit on the ground and park their stolen shopping carts like the old Chinese place right down the street.
Now, now, 9:04! You know the effect that Crab Legs have on Jacksonians.
As it is, Jackson Jambalaya Archives could have a whole section, titled, 'CRAB LEG MASSACRES'.
Gene McGee should retire.
There is nothing in this story to suggest the move is motivated by issues in Jackson. The current location simply will not accommodate the traffic flow during peak hours.
Fallen and can't get up. It's a big deal for a revenue starved city to lose more revenue that it cannot afford to lose.
Are they planning on keep the same employees?
Also, is that barking up the territory of the highland colony location?
Why are you guys acting like this is a big deal? The new location is a mile away. In typical fashion, y'all like to moan, gripe, spew negativity, and make much ado about nothing.
This is exactly the sort of thing that business promotion focused government works to resolve instead of just bemoaning another business leaving. Clinton, Flowood, Ridgeland, or Madison would have found another location in the city and worked to relocate the business. It’s not like Jackson has a shortage of vacant commercial space next to travel corridors.
Approximately $640,000 in sales tax revenue moves out of Jackson. The average free-standing CFA generates $9M in revenue. Assume that a Jackson-area CFA will be a little lower than the average. $8M x .08 sales tax = $640,000.
Only an asteroid can save Jackson.
Those that run Jackson are not business friendly at all. Profit is bad now. To make money, you must steal money apparently.
A little louder for the daft morons in the back please.
Increased square footage, larger parking area, and better police and fire protection -- plenty enough to support a move.
I wouldn't place a business on the West side of I-55. IYKYK.
10:45 - no, it doesn't. Mississippi takes all of the sales tax money and then allocates 18.5% back to the municipality that generates the tax. In Jackson, an additional 9% goes back to the Capital Improvement District. Regardless, it's still a lot of money that Jackson will lose,
There are too many great local restaurants that are reasonably priced in Jackson for a fast food chain to compete. Indeed, fast food chains are "shrinking their footprints" all over the Nation. Add Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Jack in the Box that have a long term plan of closing 200 to 500 a year. Jackson is not a big city ( never has been) and it's not a surprise smaller populations will be the first to go. Those of you bashing our state capital on a regular basis are just shooting yourselves in the foot. It hurts our entire state image and is p**s poor marketing. Our friends who visit from other states are awed by how beautiful our Capitol City is. And, they adore our restaurants downtown...not just the Mayflower and those in Belhaven and Highland Village. Not many places have so many good restaurants to chose from!
10:56 am You really need to learn what a direct hit from an asteroid would do. It wouldn't just take out Jackson dummy! I guess you flunked science!
There are several restaurants that have been doing well on the west side of I-55 for decades and still are. I swear, some of you must never go anywhere or are too cheap to go out to eat. This is a fast food restaurant and I hope they do better but fast food is generally not a good investment these days.
I never understood why anyone would eat that dry gummy chicken burger at that cost. Wendy's not as good as it use to be. Super Chix the very best by far. Wish they would open in Ridgeland.
Yeah...on top of the nuclear explosion and potentially ending life on the planet, even a smaller one could trigger the New Madrid AND the Jackson volcano. That'd be a bad day.
@7:25. Ha. As the Rolex winks at the camera
@WISEOWL - "dry gummy chicken burger" doesn't apply to a Chick-fil-A sandwich, even when eaten cold the next day. Not sure what you've been eating...
Name one. I'll wait.
12:24, They offer fresh salads, a breakfast menu and good coffee and my 9 year old grandson likes the nuggets.
I was joking. You guys get your news from Babylon Bee?
12:13: Except for hospitals, The Fondren, Belhaven, one's life is too "cheap to go out and eat" or drive West of 55, including downtown for any reason. I have good food and 9mm bullets at home if I want some.
@10:11 AM, I'm with you. I don't go anywhere that serves crab legs, preferring to remain unCultured.
Wait a minute. I think I remember not too long ago, the downtown location closed and the franchisee was allowed to “move” to a new location on Lakeland. Now I think you are telling me the Jackson side of County Line franchisee is moving to a new location on the Ridgeland side of County Line? Will there be any stand alone Chick-Fil-As in Jackson proper?
And didn’t some mystery person recently buy the now pretty much abandoned strip mall that was once home to Marshall’s and TJ Maxx? I guess data centers don’t run on lemonade and chicken minis.
Just like Northpark is in Ridgeland but you get the Jackson trash there! Main reason they are moving is need for more room to put in new store layout like on Parkway or Lakeland.
