I honestly thought one of them was gonna cut a deal & plead out.

The evidence is overwhelming. The only hope the criminals have is to claim entrapment.

I too thought that Owens would take a plea. Perhaps the Feds aren't offering much of one. I have to wonder if Owens has become the "big fish" for the Feds to take down since Lumumba is no longer mayor.

"Plaintiff Jody Owens...." law clerk must have drafted that one.

So, I understand Jody's defense with by Mark Webb is "I did it, I took the bribes, but they forced me to drink too much and that's what made me do it". If that's your defense, Jody, then you need to resign as DA immediately. You admit that you drink too much and you admit having taken bribes. Drunk or not, you should be ashamed of yourself apologize, and resign. (And I'm sure Antar hates this defense, as you're now admitting that the payments the two of you took on the boat in Florida were "bribes" , not "campaign contributions" as Antar wants to argue.)

But, Jody, with all due respect, this is a stupid defense. Unless you were drunk 24-7, you were at times sober and knew exactly what was going on. Moreover, even assuming you were drunk, when you woke up with thousands of dollars in extra cash, did you never wonder where that came from ? Personally if I woke up one morning with $50,000-100,000 cash in my pocket, I would wonder where it came from and start asking those I was with where it came from. Not only is this defense not credible, it sounds really, really stupid.
