Rankin-Madison District Attorney Bubba Bramlett issued the following statement.
Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney John K. “Bubba” Bramlett announced
today that a Rankin County jury found Mark Duett, 60, of Brandon, guilty on all counts of an
indictment charging three counts of Sexual Battery and two counts of Gratification of Lust, all
involving a child, following a trial in Rankin County Circuit Court. The Court set sentencing in
this case for May 11, 2026.
On March 14, 2025, Brandon Police Department officers responded to a 911 call reporting
abuse of a young child. Officers conducted multiple interviews. Through the course of the
investigation, the child was taken to the Children’s Advocacy Center, where the child disclosed
that the abuse occurred over a three-month period. The child reported multiple incidents of sexual
contact that took place when the defendant was alone with the child.
A search warrant was executed at the defendant’s residence, and law enforcement collected electronic devices and other items containing evidence related to the case. The State presented testimony from law enforcement officers, an investigator, a sexual assault nurse, the Child Advocacy Center forensic interviewer, and other witnesses, as well as evidence obtained during the course of the investigation. District Attorney John K. Bramlett stated, “This was calculated, repeated abuse of a child. The jury saw it for what it was, and the result is a conviction on every count. If you prey on children in Rankin County, we will find you, we will prosecute you, and we will make sure you are removed from this community.”
Kingfish note: The child was born in 2015. The crimes took place in 2024 and 2025.

Woodchipper, feet first.
Nothing short of the death sentence is good enough for these people
Based on his facial features it would appear that there aren't many branches on his family tree. Do I hear dueling banjos? Wood chipper, feet first, very low speed on the conveyor belt.
He cannot and will not ever be safe around children ... ever. The sentence must be the equivalent of life in prison.
What a monster. The state needs to get everything he has & give it to the molested child to pay for therapy for the rest of her life.
Not everyone in prison is a bad person sometimes people just make bad choices. This guy is bad! Just sick!
KF, you are a partisan coward
