Attorney General Lynn Fitch issued the following statement.
Today, Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced the recent sentencing of Pamela Latrice McNutt, 44, for one count of Embezzlement by a Public Official. McNutt stole nearly $150,000 in funds from the City of Marks, while employed as the city clerk. This case was investigated and prosecuted by the Mississippi Attorney General's Office on a referral from the Office of the State Auditor. "Our office will continue to hold those who defraud our communities accountable," said Attorney General Lynn Fitch. "This abuse was hurtful, and it affected hardworking Mississippians. I am grateful to our incredible team of investigators and prosecutors who ensured that justice was served in this case."On March 2, 2026, Eleventh Circuit Court Judge Linda Coleman sentenced McNutt to serve 12 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), with three years to serve on the Intensive Supervision Program, nine years suspended, five years of supervised probation, and four years of unsupervised probation. She was ordered to pay $1,000.00 in fines and a $500.00 assessment to the Crime Victim Compensation Fund. In addition to forfeiting her $50,000 security bond, McNutt was ordered to pay $98,428.68 in restitution.
Kingfish note: Mcnutt embezzled payments made to the city’s water and sewage, court fines, and privileged license payments from November 2017 to April 2021. McNutt was served with a $282,714.58 demand letter at the time of her arrest.
$150,000 for house arrest. That's not a penalty, that's a business expense for crime. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Court ordered restitution. How many of these "restitutions" are ever paid back in full? But hey, it's a "non-violent" crime so no big deal, right.

And that's why they all keep doin it. Why sentence people these long terms just to turn right around and suspend a majority of it at all? Just a slap on the wrist...
Gee, I can't imagine why these financial crimes continue to take place. An employee for us embezzled over 90k and got off with no time served and just ordered to pay restitution which as you stated we likely won't ever see a 10th of it, if any.
Bout right.
The budget for the entire City of Marks may not be much more than $150K
DEI probation.
Name a small city including the ones in Hinds county and you will find this. NEVER pay them with cash !!!
Hell of a job, Ms. AG! House arrest, for stealing public money - more public money than anybody in your office (other than you, of course) makes in a year.
Of course there is requirement that 'restitution' be made, but I'll bet good money - not stolen, either or based on a public salary - that the amount of restitution actually received by the state will not amount to pennies.
Absolutely horrible. She will pay back little to none, and will spend 3 years on house arrest. $282,000 stolen, and she sits at home for 3 years. This has been and will be the most lucrative 3 years of her entire life. The lesson here for everyone who is a government clerk? Steal. And do it well and it will be the best financial decision of your life.
Am I missing something? Looks like the Attorney General did her job but the Judge handed down the questionable sentence. Whats the deal with the cheap shots at Genl Finch? Wonder where that money went and if the city governance of Marks was aware?
Ms McNutt embezzled $150,000 in less than 4 years amounting to $37,000 per year or $9,375 a week. Dang no wonder this shigity was revealed. This lady was out of control! Well let’s see what she was doing with that money. She’s is an hour away from the Greenville casino and 40 minutes away from the Robinsonville/ Tunica Casinos and probably was a black/elite card member. Now thats just speculation!
The population of Marks is 1444 and no one noticed after the first months of deposits. I’ll bet that bank teller knew something was wrong and the city council must be blind, deaf and dumb!
I don't know if this photo is the mugshot from her arrest, but she sure doesn't look remorseful to me. She looks like she just patted herself on the back because she knew nothing was going to become of it. Crime does pay.
Send the Fitch home!
Auditor case prosecuted by the AG. 11th Circuit DA Mitchell is weak and hates Shad—so AG has to handle it but anyway…
DEI Judge Coleman is a woke defense attorney in a black robe. The jury pool is comprised. I’m amazed the McNutt got any punishment at all in the delta
We had one that laundered money from previous job, got caught got terminated. Then she shows up in another town about 60 miles from here in another high ranking HR position and starts screwing the plant manager. People quickly recognized the fraudster and alerted their supervisors. Not so fast my friend! People lost jobs and had jobs threatened if we discussed it at all...not just at work.
