Is the Lane Train warming up? The Baton Rouge Morning Advocate reported:
Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin remains a top target and is the current focus of LSU’s coaching search, multiple sources told The Advocate.LSU officials arranged for a private plane to pick up several of Kiffin’s family members Monday morning in Oxford, Mississippi, sources said, and they flew to Baton Rouge to tour the city.
Stewart Mandel reported Ole Miss told Kiffin he must make a decision by the day of the Egg Bowl.

He's gone. Bit into the forbidden fruit. Just needs to swallow it.
5:25pm You sure sound like a pro at swallowing. Kiffin told me personally he’s not leaving Oxford unless they took him out in a pine box and that he wanted to be a US Senator and maybe Governor of a state one day. He said politics was where the real money was.
Ole Miss likely doesn’t have enough people or money but….LSU isn’t paying their guy? Who wants to walk into that mess? Lane is feathering his bed.
Unless you’re a program like Alabama you’re always subject to having your coach swiped away. And Ole Miss is no Alabama.
If he goes to FLA or LSU he will be fired in three years. There's not much difference in the SEC. He choked last year and benefits from a favorable schedule this year.
Oxford vs Baton Rouge,
Give me a break, can they match. 15mil for 5 years . The food, the people, Max NIl $$. We even have a choice of high schools in need of a QB for Knox.
He can’t even get a contract as long as a senator in missippi
Lane is too vain to appreciate a pine box and he would never win in politics in Mississippi.
Knox will not be a quarterback very long. He played against the worst high school team in Mississippi. It’s all fanfare for the kid. Similar to Archie’s grandson, but Arch is actually a pretty fare athlete. Knox is a gamer. A video gamer.
Baton Rouge is a terrible town. Always has been.
If you didn't attend Ole Miss and aren't from Mississippi, Oxford is just another small town with a Walmart, Canes, and a dozen dollar stores. While it's not a bad place, it is not as enticing as Reb's might think.
5:51 for the win. A tour of history!
Kiffin is on the top ten list for coach's salaries now, he makes about $9m per...Florida is reputed to have an offer of $13.5 per year on the table now. With the NIL Portal stuff you could build a championship team at many universities, certainly at Ole Miss.
There's a strong chance Lane might leave Ole Miss in the future.
But he's not going anywhere ... until after this year's season is over.
And if he does leave ... I doubt it will be to that shithole known as LSU or Baton Rouge.
Gainesville isn’t much bigger than Oxford and LSU has 15 million . Max NIL ! A social life from Lake Charles to Slidell for the family .
Mississippi has a football field , LSU has a stadium!
If he stays in Oxford and continues his winning ways, they'll put a statue of him in the Grove. Given the football program's history, Ole Miss fans can be sensible about 12- 1 seasons. Florida? LSU? They'll run him off if he doesn't produce a national champion in four years -- or less. Ask Dan Mullin.
Lane, sometimes those bright lights are an oncoming train.
@6:58pm most retarded take award. Oxford is the model southern town. Ole Miss is booming and the majority of the new students are out of state — because of how nice and awesome Oxford is.
6:47 - Lane couldn't get elected in Mississippi? Have you checked out the Legislature lately?
LSU is offering a “what it ‘s gonna take contract” $15mil is the floor!
@6:58 with all of Oxford's shortcomings, it is a much better place to live than either Baton Rouge or Gainesville.
LSU is where it's At. Ole Ms mascot is lame. A shark or Bear? Lane Kiffin in gone. He will Make LSU Great Again. MLGA</b? That's hilarious! Selling MLGA hats for $21.99
I went to Mississippi State, daughter went to Ole Miss law school, a brother lives in Baton Rouge so I’m a little knowledgeable on all three.
Baton Rouge has some very nice areas and plenty to do, but high crime, hurricane risk, outrageous insurance, crazy traffic huge factors, but if you’re making over $9M that becomes less of a factor.
@8:25 pm Most of the out of state students come to Ole Miss because they cannot get accepted to the top schools in their home state. All the public colleges in Mississippi lowered their admission standards and accept almost anyone.
@9:38pm. No. Incorrect. Wrong. They could have chosen to go to their local JUCO or another school in their state because they couldn’t get into their state’s top school. But they chose to come to Ole Miss because of how awesome Oxford and Ole Miss’s culture is.
