Governor Tate Reeves issued the following statement.
Governor Tate Reeves today released the following statement on approving the deployment of approximately 200 Mississippi National Guard Soldiers to Washington , D.C.: "I’ve approved the deployment of approximately 200 Mississippi National Guard Soldiers to Washington, D.C., to support President Trump’s effort to return law and order to our nation’s capital. Crime is out of control there, and it’s clear something must be done to combat it. Americans deserve a safe capital city that we can all be proud of. I know the brave men and women of our National Guard will do an excellent job enhancing public safety and supporting law enforcement."Monday, August 18, 2025

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Tater Tot probly outta start with Jackson. I won't go into Jackson at all if I can help it.
Tate is a Trump puppet. I am a Republican but can’t believe how Trump controls these guys. Send to Jackson.
why not send the capitol police
You could literally replace the words "nation" with state and "Washington DC" with "Jackson" and this would make absolute sense to do. But nope! Trump first. I can't stand Tate. Used to know him personally, worked with him. Thought he was a wormy douche 20 years ago, too.
I was in the Mississippi national guard, Good luck with that!!!!
pure pandering. Like 11:50, it amazes me how much governors and senators kiss ass to power.
Oh and if a Natural Disaster hits how long will it take for us to get them back?
What is the crime rate in Washington DC and what is the crime rate in Jackson? Tator should take cafe of the state he is governor of before helping DC.
Violent Crime in D.C. Hits 30 Year Low
https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/pr/violent-crime-dc-hits-30-year-low
Yeah, let's send our Nat. Guard troops to D.C. at the onset of hurricane season. Seems right.
August 2025: Tate, pandering to MAGA in advance of his run for the US Senate, orders MS troops to DC.
Later in 2025 or 2026: Trump, on the popularity of his efforts on DC, sends troops to troubled American cities - near the top of the list: Jackson, MS
to 12;19....you dont know much about politics do you?
1. Juvenile crimes are not included in those stats. 2. It turns out they doctored the stats and got called out by the union for it. Just settled a lawsuit with a police officer who sued over the misrepresentation.
This is all BS and Bluster, not one of these guardsmen are even going to the real troubled hoods of DC. If they did they would be more guardsmen in the hospital than on the streets.
If wasn’t for the heat this is a nice vacation for the guys, the sites are absolutely great.( the Korean War memorial is breath taking at night) This weekend they should check out Eastern Market for souvenirs. It won’t be too crowded since they are running the tourist and locals out. The vendors will probably be offering discounts because business will be slow. For lunch there are a number of good spots along Pennsylvania Ave. I recommend Mr. Henry’s they make a mean burger. Bring the camera, and one dollar bills for the Circulator. Have Fun !
I hate to have to tell you this, but Mississippi has considerably more than 200 national guard members. 200 deployed will be virtually unnoticed in Mississippi by the national guard.
All you people saying Tate should help Jackson...your memories are short because that's exactly what he did. Remember how the idiots running Jackson allowed the water system to get so bad the state (whose operations are centered in Jackson) had to intervene with MEMA to get the water system back in order again. Well our federal government (whose operations are centered in DC) are doing something similar. That being, doing the jobs the local idiots either will not or cannot do.
Bennie, thanks for your input.
DC criminals, Jackson criminals, same same.
Don't forget he expanded Capitol Police after getting legislative approval. Put at least 75-100 more cops on the street.
Maybe our MS Guard boys/girls will get federally deputized like their doing, and bring those powers back to Jackson, and lock up some politicians.
Homicide rate in Jackson is 78 per 100,000 people, the highest among cities with at least 100,000 people, according to Axios.
Washington, DC has 25.5 per 100,000 people.
That's not hiding anything in juvenile stats. Homocide is a homicide. If crime is out of control in DC, then it's REALLY out of control in Jackson and warrants the same action, no?
As a conservative and Republican, I can't believe how this is playing out. Jackson needs National Guard troops much more than D.C. As someone posted, this is just Tate kissing Trump's rear end as part of his plan to run for the US Senate.
12:31 PM wins the “extremely gullible believe any crock of HS that liar Leftist Democrats run up their flag pole” award.
2025 (so far) As of July 2025, there have been at least 8 juvenile homicide victims in D.C., including a tragic case in July where a 3-year-old girl was fatally shot while in a vehicle.
But the white liberals Malcom X warned us about and their RINO brethren love chaos and crime, and, they hate Trump so much (TDS), they’re just fine with kids dying (as long as it NOT their babies living behind gates and/or in the burbs and maybe even attending elite private schools).
Too bad for white liberals and RINO’s that AA’s are WAKING UP:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4KIyStjLsY
Give 'em hell, Mr. President
Try as I might, I cannot convince myself that Donald J. Trump really cares about crime in DC, Chicago, or anywhere else. It seems to me to be a phony issue that he uses to show everybody that he is "THE MAN".
Fine as long as the feds, and not MS taxpayers are paying for their activation.
Natural disasters like hurricans are best handled by the states dontcha know?
Noem said Trump wanted states to take the primary role in preparing for and responding to disasters, and that the federal government would supplement that effort with funds.
"If we do what the president has tasked us to do, I believe this agency needs to be renamed," Noem said. "Our goal is that states should manage their emergencies and we come in and support them."
Kingfish, The stats aren't cooked. Crime is actually going down. The DC Police Union's angle is to get more overtime approved for officers and a repeal of the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act where they couldn't do things like conduct care chases over misdemeanors in a District with one of the largest walking populations in the world and making disciplinary actions against officers public. Also a lot of those officers just weren't doing much in the first place.
The claim that the stats are cooked doesn't make sense because they follow trendlines across the nation and aren't uncommon. There is a really great blog called "DC Crime Facts" from April 2024 that highlighted the amount of arrests that increased and how it lowered crime.
https://dccrimefacts.substack.com/p/mpds-121-increase-in-violent-crime
@ "Fine as long as the feds, and not MS taxpayers are paying for their activation."
It's still your money paying for it.
Got no problem with our troops helping others.
And to the person who said crime was down there (and Kingfish corrected you), Kingfish is right. Numbers were screwed. That came out when some in police force came forward and told the truth about higher ups demanding that they change the crimes to lesser charges to keep the "numbers" looking good.
Wow! The CCP's Rent-a-trolls are out in force! Or are they AI? At this point, does it matter? ...sent here to sow discontent, and act as if significant number of Mississippians are anti-MAGA. But apart from a few medicated mental cases residing in Jackson, EVERYBODY LOVES OUR PRESIDENT.
In any event, Donald is the greatest President since the Founding Fathers. And he's proving himself, this time around, to be the EQUAL of the Founding Fathers.
Governor Reeves was asked. He complied. And he issued a nice, polite statement. There's nothing more to it. Donald has the POWER to clean-up DC. Tate does NOT have the power to clean-up Jackson - not YET, anyway... So, the troops are best sent to DC, where they'll actually be free to do some good.
The cooking of the books, in Democrat-ruled cities, is well-documented. It's been accepted-as-fact, for decades. Considering what it costs (in terms of water and electricity), for you AI bots to spit-out lies, and for you rent-a-trolls to lie (even if you're jailed dissidents, there are costs), you need to find other venues for your falsehoods. Your time (and water and electricity) are WASTED, when you push your lies at Mississippians.
My grandson works in DC and he said violent crime was awful. Several of his buddies have been robbed and homeless people are everywhere and feeling safe is impossible now. I'm all in favor of sending any help we can give. Knock off the RINO crap. Get more original.
Can you not read people? Crime stats were going Unreported. It happened in Jackson as I had friend kidnapped from her dentist office & JPD did Not report it to the FBI. I called a Federal LEO that confirmed it was not reported and his agency had the FBI contact the lady. Frank Melton was mayor.
Kissing the emperor's ring.
These people have families and the school year is here again….200 people? Where do they even stay? What are they to do? Shoot anyone? What’s the assignment?
How about deploy them to west capitol street and provide them bulldozers and diesel fuel and make progress there?
Look how good state street looks now with the old library turned under.
Seems they like theatre 🎭
Gov Tate Reeves has been generous cleaning up behind several Demwit mayors with State funds, only to be castigated by Lamumba. The state & region need to run the airport asap. What an embarrassment.
When it comes to Trump you have to separate the noise “ distractions “ from what he is actually doing! Canada…51st state..gulf of America…tariffs paid by exporters…Epstein files, people still talking about that?, great meetings with Putin then more bombings…Doge..cutting waste, fraud and abuse then flying to his properties to play golf.. hotels in Gaza…more recently.mail in ballots and voting machines…stay tuned, there will be much more distraction. I do like his tightening up the boarder crossings!
I can see the point you are making. No one has ever benefited from being cozy with people in power.
Media talking point appears on a MS blog.
"Numbers were screwed."
They were skewed too...
That’s one opinion, wrong, but an opinion.
Are these troops federalized? Are they under the command of the President? Does the governor retain command while in D.C.? Do they gain Military Veteran status if federalized? Will they have VA benefits upon return?
The answer to each of those questions is, "Maybe, maybe not".
https://www.google.com/search?q=when+a+state+send+national+guard+members+to+DC+are+they+federalized+and+have+veteran+status%3F&sca_esv=0cad35c59d313fc9&source=hp&ei=b5qjaOPIJrzA0PEPsr-wqAk&iflsig=AOw8s4IAAAAAaKOof5VN3jW3xCKtTcaA4V9oJNTpWihB&ved=0ahUKEwijvIeappWPAxU8IDQIHbIfDJUQ4dUDCBo&uact=5&oq=when+a+state+send+national+guard+members+to+DC+are+they+federalized+and+have+veteran+status%3F&gs_lp=Egdnd3Mtd2l6Ilx3aGVuIGEgc3RhdGUgc2VuZCBuYXRpb25hbCBndWFyZCBtZW1iZXJzIHRvIERDIGFyZSB0aGV5IGZlZGVyYWxpemVkIGFuZCBoYXZlIHZldGVyYW4gc3RhdHVzPzIFECEYoAEyBRAhGKABMgUQIRigATIFECEYnwUyBRAhGJ8FMgUQIRifBTIFECEYnwUyBRAhGJ8FSMy8AVCdDljXsQFwAXgAkAEAmAGCBqAB3MkBqgEHNS0yMS4xNrgBA8gBAPgBAZgCI6ACxLkBqAIKwgIKEAAYAxjqAhiPAcICDBAAGAMY6gIYChiPAcICExAAGIAEGLEDGIMBGIoFGEYY-wHCAg4QABiABBixAxiDARiKBcICBRAAGIAEwgILEAAYgAQYsQMYgwHCAgQQABgDwgIIEAAYgAQYsQPCAggQLhiABBjUAsICCxAuGIAEGLEDGNQCwgIIEC4YgAQYsQPCAgUQLhiABMICCBAAGIAEGMcDwgIFEAAY7wXCAgYQABgWGB7CAggQABiABBiiBMICCBAAGKIEGIkFwgIFECEYqwKYAwPxBU3eamJUmkpPkgcGMS41LTM0oAeEswKyBwQ1LTM0uAfBuQHCBwY4LjI2LjHIBzE&sclient=gws-wiz
3:27, the "people" who you're suspecting of not being able to read, are AI bots, paid operatives, and jailed dissidents on another continent. It is their JOB, to get it wrong. It is their job, to lie. It is their job, to shift consensus. Thank YOU, for helping set the record straight!
School will be taking in after Memorial Day , the decline in juvenile crime will coincide with it. I doubt seriously that any guardsmen armed or unarmed are going to be sent to the high crime areas. Most will be used to harass the homeless in the area of Capitol Hill and the tourist areas where they can be seen. This is nothing more than a photo op.
Trump will take credit for the seasonal drop.
3:03 bless your heart. Accept it. People are waking up and realizing what Trump really is.
What are you smoking, and where can I get it?
They can get their wife or girlfriend to join them for Memorial Day, pretty good flights out of New Orleans that weekend .
Your grandson must be looking for things you only find in the hood. My nephew and his family live there and have few problems (someone wrote “Sucker” on his Tesla with a washable marker). You can find homeless people everywhere in the US, even in Magee, Yazoo City or anywhere you look.
Sorry the above did not provide a decent link. Just copy and paste that onto your browser line.
It's Not hard to pick the Rhino's & Democrats out of this chat. Gov. Reeves has done all Mississippi was allowed to do to help Jackson with Water,Sewer troubles.(Too bad it didn't include Red Lights, Streets, Street Lights, Potholes & Homeless). I'm hoping the Homeless get moved, Benefits get cut to many then maybe we'll see what our Labor Force actually is. The sad part is most have No Skills, No Education and certainly not the Mental Attitude to show up for Work 5-6 days a week at any Job. Time to CUT the Government Benefits & let Nature run it;s course. Some do real well, some don't do so well -but they Need to Know it's their Choice in Life.
You do realize that almost half of the police departments in Mississippi don't report their data to the FBI, right? JPD DOES report to the FBI, though.
A hotel room runs $150 a night in DC, government rates. With double occupancy that’s $15000 a day , $60 a day for meals per person is cheap, that’s 12,000 per day. Assuming a 30day deployment, you’re looking at over $800,000. Louisana just announced they are sending a 150. Pretty soon it will be a litmus test and Alabama, Tenn., and Arkansas will jump on the band wagon . Looks like they are having problems hiring ICE agents, so I guess this is as good a way to start the waste of BBB bill funds
I work with a COUPLE thats going... hope everything is smooth.. if not one is running, and the other will have one arm being pulled. They wouldnt make it in jackson at all if deployed, especially with no weapons. Their hands would be tied together. Their spouses won't be happy if something happens.
I find it funny when under the Obama administration Puerto Rico deployed the National Guard to do the same thing that the Wackos on the left think is fascism. I guess it’s different or okay as long as there’s a (D) beside your name. Always nice to go out to a bar or club and have the NG with M-16’s standing around on the corners.
1. Blue run cities have long ignored/mislabeled serious crimes. When I was kidnapped, JPD gave me their "crime card" describing the event and then promptly did not record the crime. When I filed an insurance claim, I was told that JPD had no record of the crime. When I presented the "crime card" the insurance company approved the claim and told me that Jackson does this all the time.
2. I have a friend who got out of her car in Belhaven and when walking toward her front door a thug stuck a gun in her ribs demanding her purse. JPD gave her a "crime card" stating "armed robbery." At least her crime was recorded, but she later found out it was recorded as a purse snatching.
The DC, Chicago, N.O. stats are full of lies, as is the case with Jackson.
A DC resident responds to non-DC residents claiming that crime is down.

I don’t get the angle. He’s got what, two more years in office? Does he think somebody’s gonna make him his 2028 running mate because “when it REALLY COUNTED, the GOVERNOR OF MISSISSIPPI sent his personal troops to OWN THE DC SWAMP LIBS?”
Seriously, what’s the angle? Tate’s Capitol City has literally the highest murder rate in the country, his state is the per capita poorest…
Somebody help me understand this. Does he think Eye Liner Vance is gonna tap him for Veep in ‘28? Has Wicker told him he’s retiring? Has Tater told Hyde-Smith to move off?
I just don’t see the political advantage in such a transparently stupid, meaningless gesture.
Present day republicans sure know how to waste money. What a joke the entire party has become under the idiot Trump. Not an intelligent thought in the entire party.
I sure hope MS Guardsmen don’t have to sleep in a parking garage deck again.
10:35 PM thinks it’s a “waste of money” to combat violent crime. It’s a pretty safe bet 10:35 is one of those white liberals (or RINO’s) that might live behind gates, or, live in Republican controlled suburbs, and who knows, maybe even sends his/her children to an elite private school.
Headline: 2025 (so far) As of July 2025, there have been at least 8 juvenile homicide victims in D.C., including a tragic case in July where a 3-year-old girl was fatally shot while in a vehicle.
10:35, it’s not your children being murdered, is it? Malcom X warned us about people like you.
10:35pm
Have another serving of crow.
$2B wasted on VP K Harris by Demwits for a 90 day demo on her hyena salad speeches, ridiculing herself better than Babylon Bee could.
Ya’ll keep forgetting, Tater went to Millsaps….
As an alum (who thinks Tate is a pandering idiot), I'd like to hear more on this.
The majority of police depts don't report crime. They don't use the correct database. So no, not all crime is being reported. Try leaving your echo chamber sometime.
"I just don’t see the political advantage in such a transparently stupid, meaningless gesture."
Tate Reeves has an essentially insurmountable problem insofar as a career, political or business, outside of Mississippi: he is Tate Reeves. Doesn't mean he won't keep trying to stroke the Donald hoping to be under the table in case someone drops some scrap of food.
The hilarious part is that Trump, in yet another Trumpian lack of self-awareness, thinks guys like Tate are redneck rubes and cannot stand to be around them. And in a Tatertotian irony, if someone had told you 10 years ago that Tate would be acting like a 12 year old girl surprised by Taylor Swift, but with a loudmouth new-money sleezebag from Queens, you'd have laughed at them.
Tate's been envious as hell of Mississippi guys who had at least some stroke outside the state since his twenties, but he just can't help being the Tater. His problem now is that even if he manages to become senator, he's still Tate but now he's now tarred with the MAGA funk. And he'd be hitting DC just as MAGA is freshly imploding around him. That isn't a particular comment on Trump or MAGA, it's just the political reality - when Trump's term is nearing an end, the scrambling is going to get ugly. Very ugly. Look at Looney Loomer and MTG for a mild preview of what's to come.
@ 7:42 - You do realize there's a huge difference between not reporting data and fudging the data you DO report, right?
On day one, we were told that none of the guard troops sent into D.C. were armed.
6:14, You say "Malcom X warned us"? I'm pretty you were never part of Malcolm X's intended audience.
Have you adopted any of his other viewpoints, or just the snippet bitching about "white liberals"? Do you view him as fount of truth, or do you just get satisfaction in using the enemy's words against them.
Good lord. We have our own problems in Mississippi, and in Jackson, yet our governor and AG are too busy stroking the egos of national politicians, rather than focusing on what the main issues are for us. Sheez, all Lynn knows how to do is "a noun, a verb, and Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Healthcare". Tate is no better. Can we get a some leadership that can actually do good for our community first, and then pander to the ambitions to be relevant in the national Republican circuit?
How long have you been reading minds, Twinkie?
We can explain it to you, but we can't understand it for you, so, no.
Wonder if he knows where the high comma goes in "y'all"?
What's your name, put your name on the ballot?
I'm sure that guys, and gals, that practice sleeping on the ground will have no problem with a parking garage. Unlike your soft ass.
More like kissing the emperor's ass.
10:46 AM (the mind reader) doesn’t like that Malcom X knew white liberals are “the most dangerous thing in the entire Western Hemisphere.” Democrats, especially white liberals, love chaos, violent crime and criminals because this enables Democrats to destroy places like DC and Jackson, MS, yet keep control of these places forever…..as the violent crime keeps the “flight” in place.
Quoting one of the original Civil Rights activist Robert L. “Bob” Woodson in 2020: In the past 50 years, 22 TRILLION HAS BEEN SPENT ON POVERTY PROGRAMS. 70% GOES NOT TO THE POOR, BUT THOSE WHO SERVE POOR PEOPLE.
White Liberals, all Democrats and now the RINO’s have themselves their dream scam…..and dead children can just keep dying as far as they are concerned. Because violent crime is their tactic.
Tate is such a rookie. Frank Melton would have put on a Kevlar Vest and driven the city Armored Personnel Carrier up to D.C. all by his lonesome.
