Asleep at the Wheel?

 Check out this JPD officer.

Although the good corporal was not on JPD duty, he was working private security at Deville Plaza.  A residentially-challenged man was yelling at three women before chasing them.  The photographer spied the police unit and went to summon help only to find the officer in lala land.

JPD Chief Joseph Wade placed the officer on desk duty while the department investigates.

COJ in a nutshell-

Anonymous said...

The Jackson police officer was working private security in a city police cruiser?

Anonymous said...

"Residentially challenged" is hilarious

Anonymous said...

all of this is a nothingburger. It is about as common as seeing that Reservoir police woman on her damn phone while driving.

Anonymous said...

It's allowed by state statute. Off-duty Sheriff Deputies do the same thing in Jackson.

Anonymous said...

If so that statute violates the state constitution against using your government position for outside pecuniary benefit.

Attn 11:42 a.m. please quote the state statute.

So, this off duty officer is being paid by Deville Plaza to work private security, while in his police cruiser (city property) and undoubtedly sitting with the car running and burning gas (on the city's dime)? This must be standard practice with JPD. I see this happening in Fondren frequently as well at private businesses.

Don't their computers also display inside their eyelids?

You can complain about using city equipment while working private jobs all you want

until you stop at the quik trip to get gas, step in a pile of shit, and tyrone biggums asks you for 50 cents

then all of the sudden you will be VERY OK with them doing it

Miss. Code section 25-11-17 allows certified law enforcement officers to use their uniforms, weapons, vehicles etc., to perform off duty work. Look it up.

MS. Code 17-25-11, correction, look it up

"We have on several occasions taken the view that a municipal police officer cannot use city equipment when that officer is 'moonlighting' as a private security officer."

Jackson is PURE SH*T from top to bottom, from side to side. Let it rot. The voters get what they deserve.

He got sleepy after eating those 12 free donuts.

Somebody get on down to city hall and ask for a copy of the minutes...

"The governing authority of a municipality must approve of such use of the uniform, official weapon and vehicle by municipal law enforcement officers by act spread upon the minutes of such board and approved by the chief executive."

SOME of you, i.e. August 21, 2025 at 1:48 PM, do not know that said voters have voted out the main problem, that being Chockwe Antar. IF you lived and voted in Jackson, you would know this. Keep your opinion and wishes on our city to yourself, as our new mayor continues to undo what has been done.

At least the Officer is not on Welfare and is doing the same thing his superiors are doing and probably still do! No it doesn’t make it right! But Chief give the Officer a break! What is this officers name? Im sending him a jar of ole Smokey moonshine, that will certainly boost his spirits!

Pay them a decent salary and they might not have to work two jobs.

I think an argument could be made that per the Mississippi Constitution the state or municipalities are prohibited from making "donations or gratuities" to individuals or objects without consideration, and that the costs of operating a state or local vehicle is an unjust enrichment of the benefactor received from the state.

" IF you lived and voted in Jackson, you would know this. Keep your opinion and wishes on our city to yourself ".

Nope 2:34.
I grew up in that once great small city and can say whatever I damn well please.

And regarding your comment:
" as our new mayor continues to undo what has been done".

LOL, I hear Dems say that a lot.
Please explain the origin of that phrase.

I think it's either from an MSNBC Kamahla Harris (Happy Hour) interview ... or it may have come from "Game of Thrones".
Sounds like something House Greyjoy said when they almost drowned folks in their hazing rituals.

" our new mayor"

Mayor Horne has now been on the job long enough to stop this crap.

That dude passed out on his City Hall "Garden bench" speaks volumes on how serious he is about cleaning up Jackson.

You could write a crime novel on this. Call it "Drool on the Badge."

2:34- Meet the new boss…same as the old boss.

Jackson will remain a third world crap hole.

Anonymous said...

Imagine what it could be, unburdened by what has been. But, they just have hard time learning anything at all.

Give this Officer an award, he stood by and saw many criminals he arrested back on the street before his shift ended! He witnessed many felons given a slap on the wrist by Hinds County Judges! The man is tired let him rest! This is between him and his employer! When I see him he can get in my car and rest. When are the officers in blue going to rest with the nonsense going on in Jackson and Hinds County, damn they should be Rewarded! The other Law Enforcement Officers in the Metro areas praise them for their courage and determination for even applying as a Jackson Police Officer.

How in the hell you can see in the officers vehicle and cannot see in a criminals vehicle because of illegal tint ! Go figure, it’s pure a simple bullshit.

2:40, would you please market your moonshine somewhere else? I'm sick of reading your spam.

If the 'new' Mair were to come down hard on this sort of activity, every preacher in the county would have his name in they mouth on Sunday, next. And that means multiple congregations would rebel again the Mair at the next voting opportunity.

Please let Capitol Police take over. I appreciate the Mississippi State Capitol Police for their unwavering professionalism, integrity, and dedication to serving our community. Day after day, they carry out their duties with honor and respect, ensuring safety and peace for all. Under the leadership of Chief Bo Luckett, whose character and commitment set a strong example, the Capitol Police have continued to uphold the highest standards of law enforcement. Chief Luckett and his officers are not only outstanding in their service, but also genuine people who truly care about those they protect. Their hard work and integrity do not go unnoticed, and our community is stronger and safer because of them.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
