As a resident of Jackson, I welcome this news. It's been frustrating to see the great investigative work that Anna Wolfe and her cohorts have been doing around the state, but with very little attention paid to the dismal failure of a series of city administrations to make any progress in Jackson. Chokwe Senior was effective, but he died too soon. His son is ineffective, and refuses to take any responsibility for his failures.

There is legitimate reason to fear that a Jackson version of MT will be little more than an anti-racist crusade. But I am one who thinks that there was clearly a time and place for that crusade, and for affirmative action, but now it's time for a different approach. I am sickened by so many of the diseased leftovers who continue to carry the Old South flag into the Comments section of JJ, but I'm not about to believe that they will ever again control the future of the metro area, and definitely not of the state.
All I ask of investigative reporters is that they hold all of us to the same standards. I believe JJ sets a good example of this, however much his politics may be to the right of mine. I'm center-left, and so I shall remain. The center-right is not so far away. Moderation in all things, as the philosopher said. And, may I add, much less cruelty.

That these actions and accomplishments run counter to the hopes and best interests of most Jacksonians, is completely irrelevant. The Choks have done, and are doing, what those at the highest levels of power, have intended.

WOW! Looking at the “Donors” list on leftist Democrat Mississippi Today’s site is extremely concerning. No idea!

A leftist hypocrite staffer posting pics of their beautiful sunrises and incredible sunsets from the safety of the Republican burb they chose to live in…verses the city their Democrat party destroyed…we’ve become totally used to this “liberal hypocrisy.” But that donor list? Shocking!

Watching extremely rich people like Elon Musk, Peter Theil, Bill Ackman, etc. choose honor, high moral character and this countries future over the “loyalties” white liberals like Mark Cuban expects from the candidate he financially supports…gives us hope.

If an "anti-racist, white-supremacy crusade" was ever needed, Mississippi would be ground zero....and I'm a hard core Conservative. True leaders are needed to bring us together because of our common virtues, not our differences.

Mississippi Today does publish some ridiculous, left leaning stuff - but Mississippi is without a doubt at least 100 years behind the nation, culturally speaking - which translates to why it's 50th in almost everything. It's still governed by old, white, men and women who quietly long for, and support the Old Miss'.....in another 30-40 years they will be all dead or without any influence no matter their lineage - the white haven that Oxford has become will actually evolve into a cosmopolitan hamlet with wonderful properties at fire sale prices.

At least Mississippi Today does address a great deal of the old south corruption that is a fact - and those corrupt ones all know it, while winking and nodding at each other on Sundays as they turn to page 245 of their Hymnals.

KF, I do think that you should post a written guideline for which comments that you will not approve. There is some cloak and dagger with your eye in the sky control of your site's comments section. I get that it's your site. But it is a public forum, too.

The Clarion Ledger, for many years, was a part every morning. Eating breakfast and reading the paper. Slowly, it became less and less of a local paper, very little local news. They slowly increased the price to unaffordable, $2.50/day. Had to say good bye to an old friend. I’m am thankful for this and other forums and publications where I can somewhat read up on things, and occasionally comment.

No one is forcing anyone to read or watch things with which you do not agree, like, enjoy, or wish to read. If you do not like the content of Mississippi Today, JJ, or whatever else, find websites you do like and go to and read those.

This has already been tried and has failed. It was called the Jackson Free Press. No education in second kick etc. It is a supreme waste of Anna Wolfe’s talent. She must be being paid a lot.

So what Mississippi Today is saying is that the ass-kissing coverage the mayor gets from the Clarion Ledger, the Mississippi Free Press & WLBT isn't nearly enough. The proposed Jackson Today seems like an election ploy to reelect the mayor.

Will it be called “Everything and Everyone in Mississippi is Racist!”? If I could have everyone in the state go to other states, territories, and countries, you’ll find the same thing that happens in MS from all different races and cultures. When you see “MS is 50th in this or that” please look who’s putting that out there and also why certain states are always at the top, but for some reason when you actually get off the interwebs and go there you find that it’s not as great as they make it out to be. Everything’s slanted for a reason.

We will see. Anna Wolfe does in-depth work, but she also has a clear bias. More coverage and accountability for our city and what is going on will not hurt.

Mississippi Today's Bobby Harrison blamed Jackson's murder rate on, wait for it, Republicans, a couple of years ago. Well, he's never been that bright. MT also covered up the truth about Jackson's water system. Was more interested in pushing a white flight narrative than telling the truth about what happened so it covered up the truth.

Reading KF’s 4:50 PM post makes it even more, beyond disappointing, to learn that Jim Barksdale, the man that took on and beat Bill Gates, connects himself with the likes of convict Dickie Scruggs, and raises money to distribute leftist propaganda lies.
