Correction: The post erroneously reported the incident took place in the Jackson Walmart.
Outrage ensued when a woman brought her child wearing only a diaper to the Byram Walmart despite freezing temperatures last week. The Daily Mail reported:
Shocked shoppers confronted a mother who brought her toddler son to Walmart wearing nothing but a diaper in freezing weather. The little boy was shivering as he sat in the shopping trolley in the store in Jackson, Mississippi, on Wednesday during last week's winter storm. Temperatures plunged to 37F that day, yet the child wasn't given proper clothes for the shopping trip. Felicia Nicole, a Walmart worker who confronted the mother along with other shoppers, said she was sacked after posting video of the boy online. The young woman said it was 20F or colder when the mother and child came in, and the boy was only wearing a diaper with no shirt, socks, or shoes. She said before her video began, another shopper draped a black jacket over the boy after his mother refused to get him something to wear. At one point the toddler visibly shivered with his teeth chattering. 'What's wrong with you?' an older man asked the mother repeatedly as she grabbed shopping for shelves and tossing them in the trolley next to her son. She turned around and told the man to lower his voice, then pushed her trolley away and moved toward Felicia's camera. Felicia and other shoppers said someone should call the cops, but the mother appeared to say police had already been called on her twice before. 'As long as you got hot water, fire extinguisher...' she said, before dramatically pausing. 'When you come in the store fully dressed and your baby's not...' Felicia replied. 'How many kids you got?' the mother shot back, and Felicia said she had one child as the woman turned and pushed her trolley down the frozen food aisle. A second video showed a kind older shopper, a woman on a mobility scooter, dressing the boy in a long-sleeved shirt and pants she bought for him. Rest of article.

You can't fix stupid--
P. O. S.
I saw the same thing in Flowood last week.
A young father had around a 10 month old in his buggy with nothing on but a diaper and a shirt, which was too small for him.
Stupidity comes in all colors. The guy I viewed was as white as I am. F--g dumbass.
Unfortunately, there are lots of folks around here who shouldn't procreate as they have no desire to raise a child up properly. One has to wonder why folks like her have children in the first place with the accessibility and affordability of birth control products in modern society? What incentivized her to have children?
Don't believe the troll @ 9:28.
That's pathetic!! I also hate seeing babies in the winter with no socks. PARENTS!! What are you thinking with your winter boots on and that baby has no socks!! They feel the cold too!
Do I see a box of frozen corn dogs on a stick in the cart?
One of the biggest drivers of our current crime issues, individuals having children without the means or ability to care for them. With a few exceptions, this child and the many others like him have little to no chance in life. Chances are he will be woefully uneducated, and will be raised by the streets. In order to survive he will have no choice but to steal to eat. At some point he will father a child; and the cycle goes unbroken.
This began in the 1960’s with LBJ’s great society programs. This problem is generational and until it is addressed, all other problems will remain unsuccessful.
Using the hell out of that $1000 Iphone but can't afford clothes for the child?
Wow imagine posting this racist click-bait and then censoring most of the comments! It’s gold, Jerry!
So, mom is fine with another person dressing her child as she has her nose stuck to her phone. Her priorities for her money and her time are crystal clear.
10:24 I have said almost the same thing verbatim for years.
The Great Society and irresponsible parenting (as a consequence of LBJ) will be our undoing.
I don't see how it ever ends.
She can afford clothes for the child.
She chooses not to.
Selfish and disgusting, but accurate.
9:58 here.
I'm not a troll but, I see why you would view my post in that manner.
Yes, the woman was the typical idiot you could see in Jackson. I'm just sharing my encounter because it was just as alarming to me as it was the grown ups in the video.
Having a child should be at least as hard as getting a drivers license.
In 20 years, posters on JJ will be ripping this young man for whatever transgression he commits. He never had a chance.
@. 9:58
Went to college in WV and I can assure you that in Appalachia many whites are the very same way. Not sure why you’d think this person is a troll. The poorest counties in the country are vastly white and in wv Ohio etc. this is common to have uneducated parents raise kids this way unfortunately
10:24 Before you decry the "Great Society" programs and LBJ and all of the 60's reforms please remember that those programs were a response, in many cases a misguided remedy for overwhelming inequality and state imposed discrimination which any civilized nation should have addressed. The remedies were in many cases just social experiments which produced bad results, but when it's broke we try to fix it even if we don't know what we are doing. And in the 60's our society was broke, now it's broke again. Will we try to fix it? Do we know how?
It happens. On a very cold day recently I was in Babes Gentlemens Club in Jackson. I saw a young lady in her 20's who wasn't wearing much at all. I gave her some money so that she could hopefully buy some clothes. I'm going back in a few days to give her some more money.
This video makes me teary, I cannot lie. He's just a baby and if the mother wont advocate for him, they she does not deserve to have him. I am thankful that the police were called. I am thankful that her negligence was brought to the public. I hope there will be welfare checks.
This is heartbreaking. God bless the employee who stood up for this child. She may have lost her job but I believe good deeds come back to you, so I hope she finds employment far better than Walmart.
We all need to remember not to ignore the goodness still among us and not pay all our attention to the bad.
If you read the whole Daily Mail piece, they quoted former planned parenthood director, "Dr" Abby Johnson who was sickeningly patronizing as she expressed her sympathy over the unfortunate situation. To her and her ilk, this should be exhibit A why these babies should be aborted. However, she's right in that there are people who would love to raise that child. "Dr" Johnson's concern for that child is about as sincere as Vladimir Putin's concern for children in Ukraine.
10:43 - I disagree with your assessment. The main thing that separates humans from animals is the ability to reason. A human does not need to have the excuse of poverty or lack of education to know that a child, or anyone for that matter, should be clothed in cold weather. The mother was.
Stupid? Why would you call this woman Stupid? She took a page right outta the Lumumba Play Book! Just as the Jackson City Government let it's citizenry go without water & Poof! Some how water magically appeared! Same with clothing her child. Yall aint been paying much Attention, have you?
That's actually the Byram Walmart.
Does it really matter the color of the people involved? Can't we get past that, and simply see fellow human beings?
As others have said, the youngster will more than likely be damaged by the callousness of, what we assume, is the mother. He will never know the tenderness of a loving mother.
That lack of tenderness will cause him to be detached from civilized behavior. That is why we have all these juveniles carjacking, murdering, their fellow humans. The color of skin doesn't matter.
I grew up in a small town and I saw plenty of horrible white parents do this.
I don't care what color the baby is, this is upsettingly negligent.
And as 10:43 said, this kid will have a mugshot soon. Never had a chance.
I am an expert on physical child abuse. This is what should have happened.
The police should have been called, after which they would call social services and remove the child from the mother. Bring the child to a hospital and check him/her out while social services inspects the home, social sitiuation, etc. That was physically dangerous for that child, simple.
God bless the woman who provided the clothes.
If the police don't come call the social services. If they don't come then call walmart security. If the mother gets violent, all the more reason to call the police.
If citizens can't protect a child in this obviously dangerous situation, what kind of society do we live in? Please don't say that Jackson sucks, the police stink, no money for protection. Get a grip folks. This dangerous situation was obvious.
At least she didn’t leave the child in the car or at home alone.
Where are all the leftist liberal Dems defending her rights to abuse and neglect her child? If she was killing him in her womb they’d be all over defending her rights to do so.
So the blacks in the store calling the cops are racists too? Why is this racist.
I think everyone may have missed the point (she may be more shrewd than we think): She got her child dressed, and it didn't cost her a dime! More money for iPhones, liquor, and weed! Who knows if she's crazy enough to have thought about that beforehand? Granted, she may have underestimated the LEVEL of concern from the other shoppers (may not have thought about being taken to jail), but if I had to guess, that's probably not the first time she's been there.
Ive only been in a Wal Mart a couple of times in my life, but as I recall, they are heated and cooled. Sam Walton was chosen by David Rockefeller to distribute cheap made-in-China goods and to de-industrialize the USA...so I've never shopped there.
Thanks, 1:22PM! I was going to ask, "Does Jackson even still HAVE a WalMart?"
As for the relative danger to the child: shivering in a diaper, as they used to say, "will have a salutary effect". That used to be said of circumcision, and, history considered, it may have been true.
The bullying experienced in Mississippi's lower-tier daycare centers, will be far worse than the effect of a touch of hypothermia. Sustained bullying, more than physical discomfort and the indifference of hoochiemama mamas, will be more likely to turn little boys into criminal sociopaths.
And the involvement of CPS (we're talking Mississippi, after all), is vastly more risky than is the haphazard care of an exceptionally-RANDOM Jackson mother, up twerkin' in the WalMart.
To relativize further, helicopter Mothering may actually be worse than what this kid is experiencing. For me, discovering a whole extended family of people who'd escaped Mississippi before I was born, meant discovering a world of cousins who'd been raised by a redundancy of servants (the Piedmont Atlantic Megaregion was as far as their gas money would get my uncles from Mississippi, which seems to have been fortuitous). Most of my cousins get well into their thirties, before they discover that, "the world is not THE MAID" (and that being passive and peevish, only works in a world where Daddikins has nannies working three shifts).
There is much to be said, for growing up with nobody hovering over you, every minute of the day.
Undeserving parents "play" their kids as miserable and needing charity. It's a form of begging.
Have any bleeding hearts set up a GoFundMe account for this poor underpriveleged woman who doesn't even have a Titanium iPhone?
Well played "mom of the year," as your plan came together with people buying clothes for him. I bet some bleeding hearts also gave you gift cards, right?
Heart breaking. And yes, she is a terrible mom, but remember it wasn’t that long ago she was the kid in the shopping cart. This cycle has to stop.
CIAO Thank you for caring enough to call someone to help this child. This may be the intervention necessary to prevent this baby becoming a statistic as @ 1/25, 10:43 comments. May you be blessed.
1. I'm guessing that child is way beyond the age of diapers.
2. Trolly? What the hell is a trolly? This is Mississippi.
3. Never fuck with an outraged black woman in a public venue. You will NOT win.
@ 4:02 - Would you be willing to list the meds you're taking? This is for a school project.
A good samaritan put a sweater on the child to cover his upper torso. Waist down, child had on one item - a diaper. Mother showed her appreciation by tossing bags of frozen vegetables at her child.
The virtue signaling is strong with this one.
That child appears to be 4 or 5. Still in diapers?
You mess with that woman and she'll cold-cock you, then call Dennis Sweet to sue you.
According to WJTV, the mother was arrested in the store's parking lot. The child was placed in the custody of a relative.
Mom was charged and child was taken.

Good solution Tx for letting us know.
Amother child better off.
Again kudos to the elderly lady forhelping out.
She has been arrested by Byram PD for child neglect.
