Never let it be said Polo's friends abandoned him while he sits in jail. Pastor Dewayne Pickett, Toni Johnson, and Sudie Teague Jones each deposited over $1,000 into Polo's commissary account as he awaits trial for murder.
A Hinds County grand jury indicted Edwards for the murder of Robert Davis in May 2022 and for being a felon in possession of a firearm. His trial on the charges ended in a mistrial last month. Edwards is being held without bond. Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens said he will seek another trial for Edwards.
JJ submitted a public records request for a list of deposits into Polo's commissary account since he was incarcerated at the Rankin County jail in May 2022. The records state Polo's friends and family deposited $16,512 in his commissary account. Friends and family providing funds for commissary items and phone calls in jail are nothing new. However, what is interesting is who is giving money to Edwards while he stands accused of murder in the first degree: Reverend Dewayne Pickett, Toni Johnson, and Sudie Teague Jones of Facebook fame.
Toni Johnson deposited $1,568 in his account over 27 payments ($55 average). The payments ranged from $30 to $160.
Pastor Pickett deposited $1,371 over 12 payments ($114 average). The payments ranged from $50 to $220. Edwards worked for Pastor Pickett before the death of Robert Davis. Police caught him in New Orleans after the murder in a vehicle owned by Pastor Pickett.
Sudie Teague Jones deposited $1,104 over 14 payments into Polo's commissary account. Jones pleaded guilty to five counts of fraud and one count of bribery after she, Toni Johnson, and three other defendants were caught embezzling from a $2 million grant given to the Hinds County Election Commission.
Other depositers are:
Doreece Edwards: $5,668
Darcel Odom: $2,106
William Davis: $1,828
Khaliah Edwards: $610
Khadjah Edwards: $51
Lisa Daniels: $775
Imago Bey: $690
Kiniah Harris: $160
Antoinette James: $100
Joshua McLaurin: $331
Plavise Patterson: $120
Kenneth Crumbley: $26
Phone purchase: $7,281
Commissary purchase: $4,452

OK? Is any of this illegal? If not why care about it?
Crime pays!
A real friend would smuggle in a cellphone.
I’m so rocket surgeon. My guess is he has dirt on every single one of them.
LeMaster rips this off w/o attribution in 3 ... 2 ... 1.
There's a sucker born every minute and this city is full of uneducated idiots.
What's the per minute phone charge he's paying?
He has $7,000 for phone calls yet the County is paying for his attorney because he is indigent?
"OK? Is any of this illegal? If not why care about it?"
Because these people are scum or ignorant dupes until proven otherwise.
Why hasn't Shadow given him anything?
2:15 you got something there!
Pastor, what are you? You’re a fraud! No one voted for you bc your corrupt.
Toni Johnson should picked up for violating her Probation and House Arrest agreement, not being around or having no dealings with a convicted felon. Sudie is violating the law as well.
Toni Johnson has not violated something she is not on. @ 5:48 p.m. we know you and your little group helped encourage this article. A grown person can donate funds to whomever they would like. Does what Toni Johnson eat, make you poop? This comment screams obsession. Find where she has been around a convicted felon who has been in jail for almost 2 years??
Pickett is an insult to God, a possible lightening magnet?
Say what y'all want, but I'm impressed. The man's got game.
1:28 I don’t think he is housed in Hinds County where he can walk to the store across Hwy 18 in Raymond and get what he needs and back to his cell before the officers wake up!
7:00 - I guess since Toni can't go to the facility and see Polo, she has been unable to deliver to him a nice new 66" Zuckerberg flat screen. Certainly couldn't have her violating her HA agreement in such a way that would probably be on some sort of video - unlike going out to eat at some of our finer establishments in the capitol city.
Patty Patterson giving Polo money 💰
KF , what happened to the appeal he was allegedly sending to the Supreme Court over his denial of bond after mistrial?
If the guy is getting a free lawyer this should be presented to the judge and the judge needs to rule on this immediately.
Is this not a conflict of interest? Picket is a witness for the state testifying against the thug edwards.
