JXN Water issued the following update.
Current status:
- Approximately 1,000 customers throughout south and west Jackson in the previously identified five zip codes still do not have water.
- We have 14 crews repairing large leaks throughout the system and they will continue to work throughout the weekend.
- Approximately 85 large leaks have been reported.
- New leaks continue to be reported as the ground continues to thaw out.
What are we doing?
- JXN Water continues to work on the system to get everyone water as soon as possible. We need everyone's help to accelerate that process by reducing their own water use as much as possible.
- JXN Water is prioritizing repairs, addressing the larger leaks first. We will get to the smaller leaks as soon as we can.
What can customers do?
- Please keep reporting leaks by calling the call center at 601-500-5200.
- Find leaks on your property and in your home. While our repairs will make a difference, we need everyone to look at their own property for leaks and make those repairs as quickly as possible. As of this morning customers are using 60 percent more water than they do on a typical day. That equates to nearly 11 million gallons per day of additional demand on our water system.
- Cut back on your water use today and through the weekend. We really need your help to reduce water consumption for the next few days while the system recovers. Please check your property for leaks, and close any faucets open for freeze protection (until temperatures drop below 30 degrees tonight and then just a very small drip).
Together we can ensure everyone's water service is restored as quickly as possible. As a reminder, we are still trying to limit call center volume. Only call to report leaks again today.

Rukia and her cartel will be criticizing JXN water's performance in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...
Rukia, stop with the malicious rumors, open hydrants, and pay your damn taxes!
Bless their hearts, what a hard job. Thanks to everyone with JXN Water and the crews.
Totally agree with you 3:12
Rukia: tell your peeps to pay their water/sewer bills. Why should responsible others fund your water/sewer revolution?
It's all fun and games and solidarity until the judge gets pissed and the next thing you know the feds are in town looking for the perpetrators of the disinformation campaign.
The morons probably don't realize it's easier to track the spreader of a lie than the spreader of a truth.
What happens when Rukia and Chuck get arrested. They will scream racism. Time for Stokes to jump in now. This will be fun to watch. Rukia did try the legal way first with pages of lies. But Wingate shut her down. Now they are nothing more than your common Jackson thugs.
U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate signed off on a message from JXN Water announcing the utility was working with law enforcement to track down the source of what they say was a deliberate misinformation campaign.
The United States Attorney’s Office will look into the matter and make that determination, according to Navketan Aujla, a law clerk for Judge Wingate, who was authorized to answer by the judge.
Why aren't Rukia and her cartel out there protesting? Is it too cold for these limousine liberals?
Nobody is criticizing JXN Water.
What independents( aka those who think for themselves rather than walk in goosestep with either party) know is that those zip codes are the least affluent areas in the service area. Their infrastructure has been ignored for decades by every single administration for the same reasons...that's not where either party or elected official gets "support" money.
Those of us with good memories know the ones using this system breakdown for political jabs are the same ones who thought those not paying their bills (also in these zip codes) shouldn't get any water.
We see and hear the hypocrisy and blind loyalty.
JXN Water is putting out a series of boil water notices with very precise locations. In prior years the City of Jackson would have taken the easier route and put out a city-wide notice, meaning unnecessary inconvenience and expense for most of us.
"...those not paying their bills shouldn't get any water"
60% of water users have not been paying their bills, but anybody who pays for water/sewer service receives both, except for rare emergencies. Soon, non-payment will be cause for water cutoff.
Why should a responsible 40% pay for free-riding 60%? How many of the nonpaying 60% have phone service and TV service that they do pay for? Some think they are owed free stuff.
I think that Ted is misled when he says that residents are using 60% more water at this time. What could the residents be doing? It’s too cold to fill up swimming pools. Grass is not growing so you don’t need to water it. It’s too cold to wash your car. I am not a Rukia fan but this little smear campaign very likely came from someone at one of the water plants that knows what is really going on. I think there are some issues at one or both of the plants and Jxnwater doesn’t want to disclose it. The 60% extra usage is water breaks. The only way to get water pressure back up is to fix the majority of the water leaks to tighten the water system back up.
