Ag Commish Andrew Gipson issued the following statement.
The
Mississippi State Fairgrounds will conclude efforts to provide
non-potable water to the
public this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. The Mississippi Department of
Agriculture and Commerce will continue to monitor the water situation
and will resume providing access to non-potable water should the need
arise.
“I am proud of the Fairgrounds staff for coordinating this effort to
assist members of the community during their time of need. The
Fairgrounds supplied approximately 4,000 gallons of water to Jackson
residents since opening just over a week ago. The demand
has decreased with fewer people coming to the Fairgrounds to get water
in the last few days. So, while we are concluding the service at this
time, we will continue monitoring the situation and will re-open, if
needed,” said Commissioner of Agriculture and
Commerce Andy Gipson.
