Republican Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann kicks off his reelection campaign with a formidable $3,517,092 in his coffer, according to a report released today.
More than 600 donors contributed, according to the report detailing campaign finance activity for 2022. Donations for the period totaled $1,331,201.
"We have worked hard, kept our promises, and found conservative solutions to real challenges. This report shows the broad support we have from hundreds of Mississippians across the state and we are grateful for it," said Hosemann, elected to a first term as Lt. Governor in 2019 with more than 60 percent of the vote. "We have more work to do and we look forward to getting our message out about our successes over this term and future planned efforts."
Hosemann announced his reelection campaign for Lieutenant Governor with a three-day, 10-stop tour at businesses and other community venues in and around Jackson, the Gulf Coast, Hattiesburg, Meridian, Columbus, Tupelo, DeSoto County, Greenwood, Natchez, and Brookhaven.
In his first term, Hosemann has claimed several conservative policy wins. These include reducing the income tax rate to 4 percent, one of the lowest rates in the country; reducing the state’s debt; providing a $6,000 raise, on average, for teachers; streamlining workforce development efforts; increasing access to high-speed broadband internet; and investing hundreds of millions of dollars in roads, bridges, ports, water and sewer, and other infrastructure.
Hosemann also brought transparency to the Mississippi Senate, which now webcasts all committee work and floor debate.
Hosemann’s platform centers on growing Mississippi’s economy by training an educated workforce; reorganizing state government; encouraging small business and start-up growth; shoring up aging infrastructure; and improving access to healthcare and health outcomes.
As a steadfast conservative who spent most of his career as a businessman in the private sector, Hosemann served as Secretary of State before Mississippians voted to promote him to Lieutenant Governor. In this role, he overhauled the state’s business laws, raised more than $1 billion for public schools through 16th Section land reform, and implemented voter ID to secure Mississippi’s elections.
Raised in Warren County, Mississippi, Hosemann spent the majority of his professional life as a businessman. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Notre Dame, a law degree from Ole Miss, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University. He is a former partner of Jackson-based law firm Phelps Dunbar, LLP. Hosemann also served his country in the United States Army Reserve.
Delbert and Lynn Hosemann have three children, Kristen, Chad, and Mark; and eight grandchildren, Grace, Nora Lynn, Carson, Charlie, Manse, Charlotte, Howard Delbert, and Bobby.
