I understand the young woman was stressed for some reason, but the huge amount of entitlement shown in risking the life of the woman taken hostage pretty much removes any sympathy I would have had for her. This is what the police do, when you start waving a gun around should you be surprised when they kill you?

The videos dont' show the cause of the gunfire but I would expect she decided to point at an officer. This is not a movie, police don't put their guns down to calm you down. That's not reality. Put a gun to someone's head (and yes, she had it jammed into the head of her hostage), you are going to win a prize. LEO has a responsibility to protect the innocent, which they did. They didn't come running in guns firing. As we have seen too many times, the criminal disobeyed an order to put their weapon down and pay the price. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Yes, the criminal here needed help. There are people who would have helped her. But putting a glock to someone's head is not getting you any help and expecting an officer to put his gun down in a show of sympathy is more insane than anything. If this had happened in Jackson, the result would have probably been the same.
