No bottled water locations on "the safe side of town". All locations are south and west Jackson. He doesn't care about NE Jackson. If it hasn't been apparent before, it is now.

Blaming Jacksons water issues on the artic blast and other weather is like Southwest Airlines continuing to blame their issues on the weather. Both have a lot of similarities.

"Staffing issues" didn't cause the lack of 3-1-1 calls being answered; it is a failure of management that caused this problem. They knew that the cold weather was coming and should have adjusted accordingly.

LuDUMBa you’re an absolute idiot and blatantly opposed to NE Jackson. Why do we pay all the damn taxes yet get no water? You like to drink at NE Jackson char and at Manship amongst these people yet you dispose them. Tell us why no water for NE Jackson

2:21, There is no safe side any more.

Staffing issues. Gee whiz, how hard is it to make sure you have Departments properly staffed? This is elementary.

What does a leak in the well system have to do with the rest of the city.

Lying Lumumba knows good and well that water won't be free of a boil water notice by Saturday. They can't even figure where the water is leaking at this point even with citizens reporting the leaks for weeks.

@3:56
I’ve known Lumumba for a long long time… even went to private school with him
I can honestly tell you that I’ve never met someone so arrogant and be such a fool
He is truly a fool. Never listens to anyone no matter how experienced they are on a subject. No sir doesn’t matter bc he knows it all. It’s an illness called narcissism

See my comment on a previous post. I knew this 311 problem would happen 2 days ago.

Why would anyone think they will answer 311 when they don’t answer 911?

LaDumba cant staff ( much less manage):
311
911
water/sewer system
police department
community development department
What can he do?

Blah, blah, Tater fault, blah, blah, racism, blah, blah, I'm a great mayor, blah, Tater be turbull...

Y’all need to STOP blaming LaLaLabamba. The wise and intelligent people of Jacktown elected him TWICE for mayor. If he quit tomorrow they would elect someone else just like him, as they have done in the past.

Isn't the old Broadmoor Baptist Church in Northeast Jackson?

When the mayor says "things are looking up", we have no choice but to look up. For so long, people have voted for this man as some savior, only to be voted in and blaming everyone for his lack of vision and purpose. Now, I know none of his "voters" will read this, but they seriously need to vote for the candidate and not the party.
There is only one Savior, and I'm quite sure he is not it. Quit blaming others, step up, and do that job you were hired to do...(hint: it's not guest starring in movies, rap videos, and doing all the things that promote symbolism over substance).

@3:40, yes a leak in well supply side of treatment system wouldn't affect distribution downstream from treatment, but has to be repaired.

Jackson needs a leak detection system in place; Henifin, not Lil Choke, should update us.

Why does the media, including this platform, refer to the mayor by his full name, i.e. "Chokwe Antar Lumumba?"

Is everyone afraid that they will be called a racist if they say/pen "Mayor Lumumba?"

Liberty Bowl without Water said...

The Memphis Liberty Bowl will go on without water. What does Memphis have in common with Jackson?

1. In the South?
2. East of the Mississippi River?
3. Run by Dems?
4. Other

I work for the city. There is no ability to "staff up" for the emergencies we are going through. I believe there may be about 3-4 employees total (just asked), so there's no one to call to come in and bridge the gap. There is no call center (as WAPT requested to tour only to be shot down), no bank of phones, and the 3-1-1 number itself is out of order. You have to call (601)-960-1111 directly. That's 3-4 employees taking ALL Public Works calls for city. On July 22, the mayor advised Council they may no longer reach out to Public Works directly, so ALL calls are being funneled through those folks. They are exhausted and the pay is embarrassing. Last I saw, some of the water/sewer guys were being paid $9.23/hr. Way to go, mayor.

Henifin is already playing the sycophantic local media like a fiddle.

@8:05 PM - You left out hizzoner's highly acclaimed (by him) "Real Time Crime Center."

Kingfish allows a running ton of city, county and other officials to be called (on here) by comical names and titles and has for years. White and black, city, county and state. 'The Hat' is a current example.

Awhile back, Kingfish started refusing posts that referred to Lumboola/Ludumbo/Choke as Mair. Suddenly after weeks of many posters referring to Choke as Mair, Kingfish decided it was off limits.

That in itself was nuts. Even the Mair knows it.

If I answered the phone at the water plant, I would not use my real name.

Such an odd time we are living in.

We all know the mayor is not capable of helping Jackson.
But the majority of the citizens continue to supoort him.
And the no media outlet (other than this one) will call him on his endless lies.
So he can smugly say "Tate did this!" and his low intellect constituents eat it up.
I am thankful I saw all of this unfolding years ago and left before values plummeted.

You cannot fix this when the majority approves.

And you cannot ask the minority (wyte people) to sacrifice safety and well being to save them from their own demise.
No matter what the White-guilt hold outs say.

Water, water, everywhere, not a drop to drink.

Some of you expect clairvoyance.
How,pray tell would you identify which underground pipes were poorly installed or not up to grade decades ago?
The truth about why NE Jackson doesn't have a sight is that most of us can 1) afford to buy water, we've maintained water pressure or only a momentary reduction because developers of neighborhoods they hope will be high end, don't skimp and the homes weren't "spec".
We are also smart enough to know how to mitigate this problem including how to still use our dishwasher safely and how to get filters replaced.
We don't cut and run but maintain and secure our homes and work to solve problems rather than wring our hand and whine.
We also know that cowards who run at the first signs of trouble or cause trouble or don't bother with facts come in "white" too. My neighborhood loves our few neighbors "of color" as they have improved their properties, maintained their homes, have excellent taste and are smart, well educated, successful people successful with all the social graces well learned.
And, it's really clear that some of you haven't really been in Jackson in quite a while. You haven't seen the renovations and projects that can be done without federal money or dependent on changing Mississippi laws to make absentee landlords accountable.

It doesn't take "clairvoyance" to maintain water & sewer infrastructure. It's been going on since the Roman Empire.

NE Jackson is probably the region having the most meters that actually pay their water bills -- as well as the most taxpayers -- and should damn-well have a site for potable water.

I go to or through the City of Jackson multiple times per week. The improvements are few, and most of the renovations are by the hands of outside investors.

Why are you bringing up skin color?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell.
