Trashing up the Place

There is an old adage that says return something better than you found it.  Apparently the Poor People's Campaign missed this bit of home training.  Check out what they left behind.

The city poured new sidewalks on Capitol Street not too long ago  Unfortunately, there was a food truck at the Poor People's Campaign march last night.  Can't be down with the struggle unless chowing down at the same time, right. Well, a large quantify of grease was poured on the sidewalk and into the storm drain.

The city hosed off the sidewalk today after several citizens complained but the grease naturally left a permanent stain on the new sidewalk.  There is also the matter of pouring grease down the storm drains while bitching about the water system.  Of course, this crowd ducks responsibility for anything and everything.

Don’t forget this rally doesn’t have a valid permit to block off the streets. They just get to do whatever they want while any other peaceful protest pays to play. And it’s scheduled for every other Monday for the time being. Different set of rules I guess. Must be nice.

A picture is worth a thousand words....that says it all!

This is what people do who have no "skin in the game." They neither built anything, nor did they improve it, so destroying it has no downside to them.........in much the same way that college educations will become completely worthless when the democrats make them "free."

People really only value things that "cost" them something, whether through effort or money. That's been true for the history of the world, but now we're led to believe (by the left) that each day is "day zero." Everything starts new each day, and all that's happened before today is meaningless.

Doesn’t that explain so much about what is going on in Jackson?

Let the COJ bill them for clean up as this organization is NOT POOR indeed if they provided chairs, stage & microphones or their sponsor can pay it! The State of MS DOES BILL persons & Companies for Clean up & damage to State highways, bridges & Interstates. Just ask log trucks who have damaged over passes. Ask rowboat companies who lost barges & no one would claim it as it cost millions to raise it from river bed as it interfered with traffic. Also oil spill cleanups on highways because it can and does cause accidents where vehicles have no traction. YES INDEED a the COJ CAN and SHOULD Fine the person who did spill this grease as each company is required to have insurance. If someone wrecks the Mayors city car he would turn it over for-the COJ to go after the party responsible. It is not personal; simply business. Right?

Anonymous said...

PS DEQ will be glad to give the name of a hazardous waste clean up company or MDOT can!

It was Hi Level Kitchen LLC from Canton that emptied their fryers on the sidewalk and gutter. People like this is why we can’t have nice things in Jackson.

Anonymous said...

The city fines people for pouring grease into the sewer or storm sewer - lets see if they fine these folks for violating the ordinance. EPA might also be interested since they have required COJ to have and to enforce said ordinance.

Haven't some people been stealing used grease to sell it to the biodiesel boys?

Or did they switch to catalytic converters for less mess and fuss?

Anonymous said...

Wow. Plaint based oil, is that all? You are really grasping at straws! At first I was looking closely think you were taking about the 5 French fries or cigarette butts. That’s some weak-ass racism, Jim-boy!

"Press Release: City of Jackson Announces New Campaign to Dispose of Fats, Oils, & Grease (FOG)

Posted on November 18, 2018*

(JACKSON, Miss.) – The Can the Grease Campaign is part of the City of Jackson’s new FOG Control Program otherwise known as Fats, Oils, and Grease. This program has been created to prevent these substances from entering into the City’s sewer system which can lead to costly pipe blockages and sanitary sewer overflows.
...Public Works Director, Bob Miller said, “As families are preparing their holiday feasts this year, we want to make sure that everyone knows the right way to dispose of fats, oils, and grease. FOG has contributed to more than 50 percent of our city’s pipe blockages over the last three years, which is why we’re working so hard to eliminate this problem throughout the City of Jackson. Following a few simple steps will help to save you, as homeowners and businesses, from costly sewer backups and save the City of Jackson money on costly repairs...”**

*Chowke Lumumba, Mayor

**Doesn't matter what the cost is if you can get the state and feds to pay

It really does seem they're destroying the system on purpose.

@7:54 Really?? Brand new sidewalks stained and grease in the sewer and you blame racism? You might not care what your neighborhood looks like, but the downtown residents work hard to keep our neighborhood clean. We don’t need people that don’t live here making a mess.

Anonymous said...

Right in front of the church. I’m sure the preachers were all gone by then. Or were they in charge of clean up?

Anonymous said...

Hi Level Kitchen LLC needs to get their Hi Level asses out there and clean it up.

Leaving messes for someone else to clean up. It's a culture thing.

For all of you that enjoy cheap cosmetics, lotions, food products etc. from China I suggest you look up gutter oil.

Anonymous said...

Greasy palms, greasy sidewalks, ain't Jackson great?

Anon-E-Mouse said...

Dawn detergent concentrate will abate the grease and stains.

Call the MDEQ about their spill. 25 gallons is the reportable quantity in Mississippi.

Anonymous said...

7:54 f€*. yo couch. #wecanthavenicethings

Anonymous said...

Is MDEQ going to allow the vendor to get away with this??

Anonymous said...

We must ask ourselves, WHO would still want and then protest to keep the same people in control of the water who had ONE PERSON working down there....HUMMMMMMM

Anonymous said...

It is pretty obvious who did this. Send a clean up bill, and when they don’t pay it, arrest them.

Seriously! That is what you take from this? The racism card has been overplayed and loses its meaning when used so much that actual "racism" is overlooked. Thinking like that is why Jackson does not have a chance. Oh, and its plant; not "plaint".

Anonymous said...

7:54 - I’m betting you find the act of having to put on shoes as racist and oppressive. Be better than that.

Anonymous said...

This bunch of radicals was traveling in the Mayor's entourage on neighborhood night out last week riding City busses in the caravan. They were then passing out flyers for the Rally. So the Mayor not only supports, but uses City resources to support, a radical group of outsiders pushing what is clearly his agenda.

Anonymous said...

Dumping grease at the front door to YOUR church carries a large fuck-you message, doesn’t it? But you’d best not say anything about it. You know, “Racism” and something something “Well, aren’t you Christians supposed to forgive?”

Anonymous said...

7:54 Where you stay at? I want to come dump out my cajun fryer oil on your front door step you low life hood.

Anonymous said...

Since this involved a food truck the proper place to complain is to the health department. They are the ones who give out food permits. And yes, dumping fryer grease is a big no no.

Anonymous said...

The cultural differences are stark. Just look at the govt leadership of, say, Madison versus Jackson. One is continually trying to raise the bar, and the other continually settles for mediocrity.

Flowood would love to take in the Eastover meadowbrook area of NE Jackson
Hell, half of the doctors that practice in flowood live in that area of Jackson and kids go to prep

@7:49 Its not just the "plant based oil" its a much bigger picture of people in the community not respecting others that live in that same community. Its one person dumping fryer oil, one person throwing their trash on the street, one person illegally dumping trash on a vacant. One elected official after another, time after time not serving the people. Fast forward 40 years and you get Jackson.

Anonymous said...

That is just a small sample of the reason Jackson is a cess pool. People in Jackson do not even give a thought about throwing their trash on the street. On your way to look at the greasy mess they made there take a good look at the city. It is the same way. Trash and junk piled up in the front yards. Junk cars up on blocks. Trash all in the gutters which will stop up the drains which will make the people cry, piss, and moan about the drains stopped up near their houses.
They do not take the blame for what they do. They just look for someone else to blame and if they can't find someone they just yell racist.

Anonymous said...

As many have stated, this is the renter mentality.
And nobody owns in Jackson.
They just stays there.

People will never take care of things they didn't earn.

That's why the people who paid taxes left. We got real tired of watching these losers ruin what we were paying for. Good luck to the one who stayed.

Anonymous said...

Putting grease in the sewer lines will eventually stop up the sewer lines causing sewer back ups into houses and buildings. It is against the law. The organization and the vendor should be held responsible and pay for clean up.

What were the “poor people” protesting?

Anonymous said...

11:51 obviously protesting having to work as it appears. As mama says you clean up after yourself!

Anonymous said...

Part of the sidewalk repair on Capitol Street is being funded by the state through the Capitol Complex Improvement District (CCID). If I am not mistaken, the city had the money to improve the sidewalks up to Lamar Street. The state paid for the project from Lamar to State Street. That may be irrelevant here, but the state needs to be given credit for improving the sidewalks in that area, not the COJ.

Folks, please learn when it's appropriate to write 'that', and when it's appropriate to write 'who'. Please pay attention to the differences between phrases, hyphenated words, and compound words. Please learn appropriate punctuation, and how to clearly set-apart phrases which, whether officially or for humorous effect, describe entities.

There may be reasons, why your children who've fled to places like Boulder, Austin, and Charlotte, shield your grandchildren from exposure to you and your semiliterate communications.

I routinely fail to hire, and frequently FIRE, people who cannot write. I have to. Written ambiguity can cost me.

I understand WHY you write so badly. I, too, was a product of Mississippi's public schools and universities. It wasn't until I went for my Terminal Degree, at a near-Ivy in another state, that my sloppy English became an issue.

Please don't allow yourself to be ghettoized by your inability to communicate.

1:59, a couple of observations about your post:

1st paragraph, last sentence: There shouldn't be a comma between punctuation and "and." Also, you should've used the restrictive "that" rather than "which."

2nd paragraph: There shouldn't be a comma between "reasons" and "why."

4th paragraph: There's no need to capitalize terminal degree.

Anonymous said...

@1:59 PM "I have to." Otherwise, you make valid points.

Reply to 1:59 PM and 2:21 PM
Kingfish, when did you start a English course? Sign me up! Wait let me add a comma after Kingfish. Right. Right.

@1:59 PM - I hope that your terminal degree expenses are refundable.

I gots' nuthin' against a grammar nazi.

Find it quite refreshing actually.

But the phrase "more flies with honey" comes to mind.
No need for the snark and no benefit from the insults.

Or the Ivy League-adjacent fabrication.

Anonymous said...

When people are living for the moment and living day to day and pointing their finger at someone new everyday then you get Jackson.

Anonymous said...

@Failed Ivy League educated….perhaps you should reach out to those you’ve fired.

Anonymous said...

And just to pile on, @1:59, you shouldn't have placed a hyphen at "set-apart." Placing the hyphen as you did indicates a noun, "set-apart phrases." I agree, though, our commenting friends need to know how to correctly -- watch for it, @1:59 -- set apart phrases.

But I knew what you meant

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
