Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Compare this response to the cover up at UMC in the story posted on JJ earlier today. Cue up the standard spewing of hate against Broadmore.
No, I am not a member of Broadmore. No, I'm not a Baptist. However, I do appreciate which appears to be a heartfelt and clean response. This is an awful matter. It appears that Broadmore is seeking reconciliation.
A NDA has no legal standing when it is used to cover up a crime.
The people of this church who put this in a written format with his name should be sued... then crucified. It was also read aloud to the entire congregation at the end of the service without warning to parents or anyone else who was "captive" and would have prefered to opt out of this sharing.
Not saying or questioning the facts or truth in this matter at this time, but the METHOD of pushing the message was totally inappropriate.
Any sane leader would understand the shock drop of something like this to a group of folks who, of which the majority knows this man, his family/kids/grandkids, his fixture in the church, community, and lives of so many for decades. There were also baptisms Sunday who had family members present... additional visitors, etc. NOT THE TIME TO DELIVER SUCH AN A-BOMB.
The absolute correct announcement should have been "that because of an alleged event that "may have" occurred DECADES AGO that involved a (then) staff member (WITHOUT SAYING HIS NAME AT THIS TIME) now, because we feel the need to be totally transparent, we will have a meeting Wednesday.. or Thursday whatever time to share information in this matter. Then, those who are interested and willing would come attend and get the particulars.
Putting his name out there at that time AND ALSO IN A DIGITAL FORMAT (link in their email to members) immediately created a "forever" digital smear of this person forever. See how immediate and easy it was for JJ to just repost this?
This man.. his family... his business WILL probably suffer immediate and long lasting repercussions from this... this is like an A-Bomb on his world. This should've been pursued DECADES AGO... if the perpetrator was serious.
(Full disclosure, while I personally know this man and family, and while I don't know the truth in this matter, I, along with ALL who know him, will harbor this to be an unproven event) But fact remains - the METHOD OF DELIVERY IS TOTALLY INCORRECT and those who put this out can and should suffer repercussions.
Calling Morgan & Morgan in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...
They named him and declared him guilty, then say they are going to investigate to find out the truth. Can you say libel?
8:44 makes good points.
$5,000,000 minimum. Pass those collection plates.
I am amazed but perhaps not shocked that the church put this out there. I have known David and family for years and have a difficult time believing the accusation. I suspect the church needs to check their insurance. This is condemnation without proof, life destroying for all involved. If true, should have been pursued years ago. Will pray for all involved.
Anyone care about the kids?
Wow. This is a lawsuit in the making. Obviously this church, which has a history of problems, did not seek any legal advice before going completely insane. Makes no difference if it’s true or not.
I’ll bet you a ham sandwich there’s more than one victim.
Putting this out in a digital format just keeps the sin circulating and brands the church as unholy.
Let the dead bury the dead. Get on with your job! Promoting CHRIST.
You are not the catholic church that needs a confession. That's between you and God.
I am disgusted this was announced without warning or preparation to parents. Every child in that congregation heard what was said and has now been exposed to this topic. Absolutely horrible judgement.
Folks, truth is an absolute defense to libel.
Moreover, I believe the plaintiff would have to prove the falsity of the statement by a preponderance of the evidence.
"This is a lawsuit in the making . . . Makes no difference if it’s true or not."
Uh, that would be "false."
@9:36... This church has a history of problems? I was not aware...
Ummmm....???
"We have asked David for input and have spoken with members of his family. We have also received a response from his attorney who has denied the allegations in their entirety on their behalf".
Broadly speaking, they are more ahead of their skis than prudent.
Oh my, we Baptists need a wake-up call before we become a church that denies and covers up the sins of leaders. Hasn’t worked out well for the Mormons or Catholics.
And for those of you that didn’t want your kids to hear what was said in church, sure hope they aren’t watching Disney Plus, ABC, CBS, NBC or any channel with advertising.
Shame on you for protecting predators. The above critical comments regarding the church’s response are the exact reason people lose faith.
10:03 obviously doesn’t understand how the legal system in the United States works. Truth has nothing to do with what can be proven in court and making slanderous statements is not evidence and the internet and church isn’t a court of law.
I like how they threw some of the past pastors under the bus, no names but have the year which is easy to figure out who they were talking about. What a shit show. But wait, now that we are calling everyone out, “we” will investigate further. And who is “we” doing the investigations? There was no mention, I mean NONE, that law enforcement has been contacted. So a bunch of random people have been doing some poking around in a field they have ZERO experience. I do feel bad for @10:12 who just doesn’t know about all the strange things that have happened at Broadmore. Stolen money, pimping young girls and now telling the whole congregation during a church service a story that should have been told to the authorities. Wonder what they will say next Sunday?
10:03 gets it. Church cannot be held libel for laying out the facts as they understand them. They’ve gotten out in front by choosing to believe the abuse victim. Pretty savvy.
The bogus NDA the victim was made to sign for therapy support is probably going to put some attorney in jeopardy. May God help them all.
Notice the pastor doesn’t put his name to this. Well his name is Josh Braddy. Look at this at the end of his letter that’s on the church website.
To the media:
We understand that as this story unfolds, you may have questions. We have decided to direct all media inquiries to our Media and Communications Pastor Michael Bowen. He will be as open and honest as possible, but given the fact that we intend to engage an independent investigator, he will likely not be making public comments until after that investigation is completed. Should you desire to contact him, you can do so by sending an email to questions@broadmoor.org.
Obviously they are inviting the media to contact them and this poor Michael Bowen will take the calls. Now if I am the cops or the District Attorney I would be livid. What if they were already investigating? If they didn’t know why weren’t they contacted? The church is playing Nancy Drew with the lives of real people. I don’t think this pastor will make it to Christmas. He is a total and absolute moron.
9:43, Church people pretending to be perfect is largely what turned me away from the church a long time ago, and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one. Church people honestly admitting their shortcomings is largely what drew me back in.
Who are you really serving when you wear a mask of perfection, God or yourself?
All that to say, Folks...we 'bout to be sued by this girl for allowing this to happen'.
It would have been easier to simply buy larger collection plates and start passing them. Now, not only is the female victim going to sue the church, but this David guy might as well send a U-haul van full of collection plates over to the church.
While it's unusual for youth ministers, band directors, girls' basketball coaches, priests and scout leaders to groom opposite-sex members, it does happen occasionally.
Many such cases. I personally know several local church leaders who have allegedly committed similar crimes. At least one went on to work with victims of child sex trafficking.
The Southern Baptists and the Catholics need to get their collective acts together and purge themselves of the pedophiles.
Why announce a verdict BEFORE the investigation?
More pedophiles at a church
If you allow people unfettered access to minors and elevate the “worth” of the church employee (he’s a man of god, etc) the minor is extremely susceptible. Why people are shocked this happened and is currently happening is testament to how we never learn from our mistakes.
Never trust a preacher with a boner
To 1:49 am…. I’ve been a member for 30+ years and, trust me, no one is pretending to be perfect! We know we are all sinners! If you ever attended you would know this.
Salem Witch Trials v2.0
Youth pastors have a target rich environment. Trust, BUT VERIFY!
They are literally destroying any chance for this case to be investigated appropriately by LAW ENFORCEMENT and not the church and some random private investigator.
very confusing. I know a Large Church has had many youth pastors over the years so they didn't want all of them under suspicion but surely, they have more evidence than they have disclosed because they have trashed this man's reputation. Just sad for everyone. But if hea had sex with 15 year old wouldn't DA have to get involved even 40 years later
Churches to whom are reported incidents of child abuse, theft, or other crimes should report these alleged crimes to the police. Some of them think the compassionate thing to do is to hug them and pray for them and fire them. By taking this action, churches have sent predators to countless other churches to repeat their crimes. If you want to be compassionate, CALL THE POLICE!
I am very skeptical of organized religion and agree it is a dangerous and common area for predators, but this approach seems very ill-advised for any chance of actual justice.
I wonder how many more victims there were over the last 40 years. It’s amazing how the churches always refuse to out these monsters and prefer to try and cover up their crimes so they don’t look bad in the community. The one bad apple really does spoil the bunch. For anyone who still believes, say an extra prayer that these churches who cover up child rape will one day place the safety of those children over their own standing in the community.
Church leadership really needs to be roasted for this. There is no way to disprove an allegation that is at least 34 years old. They are worried about everything but doing the right thing. The church isn't in a position to litigate what happened 34 years ago, either civilly or criminally. They don't need to take a side and they certainly don't need to do so in public. And I hope the guy sues the leadership as individuals. If they dont' have iron clad proof to basically claim he is guilty before hiring an independent investigator, they need to pay personally for their callousness.
Pedophiles pick jobs/professions that will bring them into contact with children.
Of course ,churches will have youth directors and camps will have counselors, and schools will have teachers and sports will have coaches or trainers that sought those professions to have access to the most number of potential victims.
Let your children be quite sure they can tell you if anyone touches them in ways that make them feel uncomfortable or asks the child to touch them in ways that make them uncomfortable.Let them know that no matter what is threatened, they must tell you as the threats are not "real".
This poor women deserves a voice!!! How can she heal if she has to feel like she is at fault and shameful hiding the truth. Its HIS DOING!!!!
She has probably been coerced from the start by some slimy people trying to protect their church Cough cough I mean 💰!!! David goes on about his life has kids and wife and she had her innocence stolen, and probably will never trust a man again or any church figure. Why try and cover this up Broadmore? Why? Not trying to sound like a feminist, but I am a woman! And woman are tired of being treated badly by narcissistic power hungry men. The world is changing. If you dont want to get sued or your entire reputation ruined… you should probably keep your morals up to code.
Well if you look at the website of David Ingram’s current church, it’s nothing but pictures of him with young kids. Creepy as hell.
Is Riley Brown actually in prison? he was sentenced last year.
At least it happened after the housing market crashed
One call, that's all. Cha-ching.
@10:23 - I noticed that too. Hopefully some of their parents will see this and start asking questions. There’s no telling how many victims have been abused over the decades this pastor had been active.
This is exactly what I was talking about:
"I’ve been a member for 30+ years and, trust me, no one is pretending to be perfect! We know we are all sinners! If you ever attended you would know this."
1. Declare you piety by pointing to your years of church attendance,
2. declare "we are all sinners" (only because the Bible told you so, not because you really believe it or have any understanding of your own nature), then
3. point an accusatory finger at those presumed to be less pious than yourself.
-1:49 a.m.
The Broadmoor letter reads like the church is piling on a man that's already been outed, wrote a check and has made an effort to atone for his wrongdoing.
Honestly, it sounds like some confession and threat to get all woke decades after an issue that no doubt the church was aware of when it occurred.
I can't believe the church's counsel allowed this to be published and after receiving one cash settlement payment, I have to at least consider the possibility the victim is wanting another bite at the settlement apple.
Thank God for Josh Braddy. The FIRST lead pastor to take her allegations seriously and not try to silence her. If the church would have handled this correctly the first time she brought this issue forward, this current situation wouldn’t exist. After 40 years, it sickens me to know the number of pastors that turned a deaf ear to this abuse - especially ones that I respected.
The Timing 11.59 brings good points. Why now. Is it related to SBC cases. Its bad really bad but does seem to be a money grab
11:28: Couldn't have said it better myself.
No wonder people are leaving religion with all the virtue signaling, hypocrisy, and judgment from those like 8:09.
At 11:28 am- thank you!! Yes! They do love to point their piety at others. I respect the owning up of the transgression rather than this.
I think that since they posted the name of the accused, they should also post the accuser’s name. In all instances, not just this one.
10:42, I am pretty sure he is not currently incarcerated.
There is not a correct answer for the 11:28 & 12:48 types. They feel they really know the posters motives and ALL others who will come across their path in life.
Love em, they gotta be politicians.
The names missing here are the famous Daddy/son pastors who were BOTH aware of this woman’s story! Nothing ever seems to stick to them as long as they are in MS.
On my computer the comment section is overriding the story, FYI.
It seems all of this happened in the 80's. Back then church's didn't take any of this stuff seriously. Now I know our church and other church's run background checks on all kid and youth ministry workers and treat them like they are applying for a job. We observe them ask deep questions about their past life and interview their family and friends. It is a burdonsome process but it has to be done. A lot of this is coming to light because nobody took precautions back then. We trusted everybody. I still can't imagine though finding it out and trying to sweep it under the rug like it never happened.
And Hinds Madison Baptist Assoc. just voted to disassociate Calvary Baptist & Northminster Baptist churches because they have women pastors.
and 2:24 takes his Bible and goes home, with one last arrogant swipe on his way out the door
I’m a little creeped at all the detail in the first few paragraphs. It’s like over-sharing or TMI. But that’s just me.
If HE is INNOCENT …… He will SUE the CHURCH!!! If he does NOT ……. We all will know the truth!! What happened to Believe all Women ... JUST saying....
https://www.wlbt.com/2022/11/01/former-mdoc-officer-sentenced-95-years-child-sex-crimes/
Here’s a similar grooming of a 12 year old followed by abuse. This guy today got a very tough
sentence.
@7:57 The church leadership has put him in an awful position if he’s innocent. It’s going to be hard to prove anything one way or another from more than three decades ago. But while they have some hedges in there, they pretty clearly state at times that he did it (for example, by saying the harm occurred through him). No hedging; no “alleged” language. He pretty much has to go scorched earth on the church with a defamation suit for anybody to believe him, but that’s expensive and not easy to win. Just a really awful approach by the church. I’m not sure what kind of iron clad proof the church could have from decades ago (paying for counseling and an NDA is just as consistent with trying to keep an unhinged person from taking his reputation as it is trying to quiet an actual victim; seeing how everybody jumps to the conclusion that he’s guilty shows exactly why an innocent person would do that). But if they don’t have that kind of proof and they came out and essentially declared him guilty of the accusations, in a sane world the church would fire everybody involved with the decision to make this statement. The world is often not sane though.
how is Broadmoor’s pastor not breaking the law?
Miss. Code Ann. 97-5-51 - - Mississippi Child Protection Act of 2012 - - reporting sex crimes against minors.

(d) “Clergy member” means any priest, rabbi or duly ordained deacon or minister.
If You have ever spent any time with David Ingram, then you cant believe this. The David I know is a kind, generous person who has helped many many people over the years and has a wonderful family. He is the last person I would think of as a groomer. I think a lifetime of being a good citizen and person leads me to want More evidence before I destroy his life and reputation.
To the braintrust at November 2, 7:28 a.m.
I see you believe in suspended animation. Apparently you think this "victim" is still a "minor," although the reported incident or incidents occurred at some point between 1982 and 1988. Armchair lawyers are awesome.
This whole thing is confusing. I would think none of the current ministers at Broadmoor were around in the 80’s. How are they responsible in any way for what happened 40 years ago? This issue needs to be taken up by the accused and the accuser and possibly the ministers who were in charge then, especially if they were aware at the time of the potential crime and covered it up. But to make the current ministers responsible seems crazy. That being said, now they are involved, and, in my opinion, mishandled the information by making it so public. It is a sad situation all around.
This "victim" has since grown up (?), married, has had multiple kids, gone through decades of life events and experiences that would normally have forged - or forced a maturity in most folks by this point in their life. However, she now seems immediately hellbent on beating her chest and demanding something of everyone to "heal" her today because four decades of inept counseling have apparently not worked. (Need the name of those counselors)
It seems that the only way to get final and immediate relief is lots of $$$$$$ and to rip the church apart. This results now in dozens, hundreds, perhaps thousands of lives being affected by her position, and the church's handling of it.
Prayers for all.
34 years is a long time to hold a grudge. If it was me I think I would have spoken up a long time ago. I have seen the damage some doctors can do when they start explaining something that happened 34 years ago. My own sister spent a little time with a doctor. He explained how my parent's had abandoned her when she was a child and it was just now beginning to bother her. My sister left home at the age of 22 to go to college.
Too many predator protectors in the comments. "Good Christians" I guess.
To the Good Guessing Christian at 11:15
You apparently are reading comments other than all those that were posted before you. Don't see a single one that mentioned protection for a predator.
Just more to pile on Broadmoor’s pathetic system of ruining peoples’ lives and calling it “in all grace and love.” The next headline should be, “Where has Broadmoor’s worship pastor been for the past five months? Don’t ask the CURRENT executive pastors. They won’t tell you a thing.” Amazing how this church defines love and grace in this situation. By all means, Broadmoor, or as it should now be called, Braddymoor, the place to know and be known so it can be used against you later. Time to clean house at this church and expose the lies these pathetic “men of (some) god” spread in order to cover their own skins. Take a peak into their closets. The skeletons are piling up.
11:15 is one of those that immediately points out "LOOK OVER THERE! A CHURCH GOER SINNED! SEE THEY ARE NOT PERFECT"
Because they have no actual knowledge of Christianity.
We pray for them.
This Broadmoor woman was probably encouraged by this: https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/15/us/southern-baptist-convention-sexual-abuse-reform-measures/index.html
@8:44 People like you are the reason that victims take forever to come forward and many times don't. You are doing the exact opposite of the church's stance. You are putting reputational things in front of exposing and expelling terrible behavior. Darkness hates light.
There’s a gulf of difference between good Christians sinning and a grown man raping a child. Please spare me the “we’re all sinners” nonsense.
Hey @9:33. You are right this is a Baptist Church and the SBC has sexual immorality to rival any other denomination...
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jun/12/southern-baptist-church-sexual-abuse-scandal
Following up on 2:59, there is also a vast difference between true repentance and keeping it quiet (for the good of the church,!of course).
People aren’t stupid. If we want them to trust us, we have to name and claim our shortcomings and failures.
2:32 Were you part of the JURY who convicted him?
@5:57
BOO!
Guidepost Solutions’ Report of the Independent Investigation
May 22
Dear SBC Family,
Thank you for the resolve you showed last year at the annual meeting in an overwhelming vote to address sexual abuse in the SBC with determination. Thank you for showing your commitment by providing funding that allowed a world-class organization like Guidepost Solutions to conduct a thorough and independent investigation and report. We are grateful for the excellent work that Guidepost has completed, as well as their gracious financial accommodation to our budget. We are grateful and sobered that the Convention entrusted the task force with managing this very sensitive but necessary assignment.
As the task force, we grieve for what has been revealed in this report. We lament on behalf of survivors for how they have not been protected and cared for as they deserve and as God demands. With broken hearts, we want to lead the way by publicly repenting for what has happened in our convention. We implore our Southern Baptist family to respond to this report with deep repentance and a commitment to the ongoing moral demands of the gospel as it relates to sexual abuse. We must resolve to give of our time and resources to not only care well for survivors of sexual abuse, but to provide a culture of accountability, transparency, and safety as we move forward. We acknowledge that any act of repentance requires ongoing, deliberate, dedicated obedience and sacrifice. This is the calling of our Savior to unite as a body in following after Him.

It appears that 8:44 was addressing methodology.
@2:32 And people like you are the reason innocent people have their lives ruined all the time. These allegations are decades old. There is no reason for the church to air this publicly without an investigation. How is the accused to supposed to defend himself? How is he going to provide evidence that something didn't happen 35 years ago. I can pretty much generally tell the the city I spent most of my time in 35 years ago, and can tell you some cities and states I definitely wasn't in, but I couldn't prove or disprove anything about my whereabouts. That's why statutes of limitations exist, even though they sometimes result in guilty people being unpunished. Everybody is at risk of extortion if people don't show some reason and compassion about allegations that are decades old.
"Everybody is at risk of extortion if people don't show some reason and compassion about allegations that are decades old."
I'm sure there were many in the Catholic church who made the same argument, but I don't think rampant extortion by fake victims has really materialized as a problem for them.
Have there been a few? Maybe. But I don't think "everybody" was ever actually "at risk of extortion."
Local baptist wahhabis seem upsest at the prospect that secular sex crimes laws could apply to their mullahs!
Not saying this guy is innocent, but big fan of due process here.
Hope you guys that want to execute without evidence never have sons accused of sex crimes.
Its real hard to un-ring that bell.
Factual accusation or not.
2:32. "..the church's stance..."
You need to admit that sometime the "church's stance" may not be correct. (if you call this a stance)
Regarding the point of the article….why would an innocent man have an attorney and pay the victim off. He knows he’s quilty.
And, maybe she feels that the current preacher will do something…..finally. She’s suffered a long time
This is tough. You Know David Ingram attorney is telling him. You cant talk. They have no evidence other than what you give them now. so How frustrating to not be able to come out with your side.
Nov. 4 @1:37 AM
How could you read these comments and wonder why an innocent person would be willing to pay to stop having false allegations made? Too many people just assume anyone accused is guilty. Would you want to live the rest of your life with probably a third or more of the people you interact with just wrongly assuming you're a pedophile because you were accused of it? Or would you be tempted to pay to avoid that?
No clue about this situation, but something like 8% of accusations of sexual misconduct are false. Even though it doesn't make sense to normal people of why anybody would make false accusations like that, it happens. Even if you believe the low end of the estimates and only think 2% of them are false, that's still a lot of innocent people wrongfully accused just because of the number of people accused.
Some of the SBC realize that their sect is now exposed as a flaming dumpster load of biblical needle threading sexual abuse coverup hypocrisy thanks to past 'leadership' of the sect.
Others in the sect...appear to still be thinking it's all “a satanic scheme to completely distract us from evangelism.”
Sad trombone applies to many similar examples of such allegations:
If there actually has been a decades long coverup of sexual abuse allegations (as has been alleged) it makes it harder for the beneficiaries of the coverup to prove their innocence!
Honest question:
What would you do if this happened to your daughter, you found out years later, and she was still suffering from the after affects years later? Do we know the whole story in the public realm?
What NDA doing?
