This young woman is more than likely suffering severe mental illness.
Psychotic breaks can certainly cause the very ill mother in this case, to act in a manner beyond logical thought process.
Postpartum is real..and it’s ugly.

This woman will be given a mental evaluation. If she is found not competent to stand trial, she will be remanded to a mental facility until she is found to be competent to stand trial.

If/once she is found competent to stand trial, she will be tried. If convicted, she will be sentenced. If she is given a fair trial, and the judge follows the law during sentencing, her sentence will be upheld and carried out.

I doubt there are any new lessons to learn from this one. Why she did what she did is probably beyond my capacity for understanding.

I'm sure I'm not as intelligent as you are, or as educated, but the fact remains that this savage behavior was a result from a break with reality. What caused this break has not been revealed on this blog. The results of a break from reality, either from a psychosis, stress, or chemical cause, are the same. The article concerned the results of this break, savage, uncivilized behavior, eventually resulting in the death of a child, of this I have a clue.

I, also, have one more clue. For someone to come on a message board, and attempt to demean the intelligence of a stranger, the attacker has no way of knowing, belies, as in your case, someone having a clue. Perhaps you, and many other commenters on the internet, are not far from a break with reality yourself.

This is a fallen world. My mind is too small to understand why the Lord allowed this to happen. I will go to my Bible and read Job again. The reality is a baby was tragically killed. But a week before that on Sunday 24 babies were dedicated at First Baptist Church, Jackson. So, to give some comfort, the world is not pure evil.

The baby is in heaven. Pray for the mother that she will repent and be saved and that see her child again one day in heaven.

When people do terrible things to each other, we blame God and wonder "How could God let this happen?" What is it about our underlying beliefs that causes this reaction?

Has anyone asked where the father of the baby is? Or who he is? She did not get pregnant all by herself.

I don't pretend to know all things. The question, "why did GOD let this happen" is a valid question asked by the ignorant, of which I am one, but there's another question that begs to be asked. Does mankind have free will?

Is there any information available regarding funeral services for the baby? Or donation information for that sweet angel's funeral expenses?
