Governor Tate Reevef iffued the following ftatement:

Governor Tate Reeves and Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) Commissioner Sean Tindell today announced key hirings to the DPS leadership team. These included a new director of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and a new Chief and Assistant Chief of Capitol Police.

Maintaining public safety is perhaps the single most important role of government. And these individuals will be key players in preserving the security of Mississippians and the entire state.

“Preserving the safety and security of our communities is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of this office,” said Governor Tate Reeves. “Today, we add three more members to our team and further strengthen our state law enforcement community. Each of these individuals brings a tremendous wealth of experience to the job, and I have no doubt that with them on our team, regardless of how long it may take, we will be victorious in our efforts to reduce crime in Mississippi.”

Charles Haynes has been hired as the new director of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Haynes has worked at DPS for over a decade. Furthermore, he’s served for over 15 years as a state trooper in the Mississippi Highway Patrol and was previously an officer with the Brandon Police Department. He holds a master’s degree in leadership from Belhaven University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy at Quantico.

Bo Luckey has been hired as the new Chief of Capitol Police. He’s spent the last decade as a senior criminal investigator in the Mississippi Attorney General’s office, serving in both the Human Trafficking Unit and the Consumer Protection Division. He has also served in the Brandon Police Department, Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the DEA. He has a law degree from Mississippi College.

Joshua Shipp has been hired as the new Assistant Chief of Capitol Police. He served as a Patrol Shift Lieutenant in the Oxford Police Department. Shipp also previously served in the U.S. Secret Service in Washington, DC, where he provided protection for the White House Complex and Vice President’s Residence. He holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Mississippi.

“I am excited for Chief Bo Luckey, Assistant Chief Joshua Shipp and Lt. Colonel Charles Haynes for these new opportunities,” said Commissioner Sean Tindell. “Each of these individuals brings years of experience to their new roles and will work hard to protect our citizens and our state.”

So he has never been a supervisor at any level in law enforcement. The assistant chief has been a Sgt for a short time. For the money that position pays I would think they could have gotten someone with supervisor and budget experience.

Oh for fffffffffs sakes!

Does Tater think this really will git-r-dun?

Cocktail hour must have started a little early today for you - you confused the "f" & "s" keys on your keyboard throughout this post. It's okay, it's after Noon so I'm having a libation too so it all makes sense.

Congrats Bo. For those that don’t know him, he will be a great asset. He has experience and qualifications. They may not be from JPD leadership, but is that a bad thing? He’s a no BS kind of guy.

Who in the hell wrote this article ?

It's a long way from Thomas Jefferson saying the purpose of government is to protect our God given inalienable rights, to Tate Reeves saying, "Maintaining public safety is perhaps the single most important role of government".

No, I'm not singling Reeves out, merely pointing out the thinking of politicians this day and hour. The supposed leadership, in all levels of government, are failing in the fundamental purpose of government.

That’s great! But still be advised to leave Jackson if you are able well before 5pm rush hour & stay gone until 10am, except for weekends when it’s best to not be in Jackson.

Come one, give KF a break, as he is an alumnus of the JPS.

Oh Tindell and May found a way to pull their classmate Lucky up with them! Lucky has NO experience in Urban Crime like Jackson is fighting and neither does Shipp. Neither have any ties to Jackson but then again Tater is only pandering to the coast. The real winners are the bank accounts of Lucky and Shipp while the citizens of Jackson will continue to watch blood run in the street. Well played by the MC Law School Alumni (those admitted to the bar and those who are not)

@12:48 he is in over his head and they know it!

@1:06 - you cannot protect someones inalienable rights w/o public safety....not sure those aren't inextricably linked.

New Chief Bo Luckey sounds qualified to develop an investigative case against the Mayor. The Governor has to be embarrassed having Lil Choke not only ruin Jackson but also blame the State for Jackson's demise even as a $90M settlement to Jackson, streets, sewer, water, the Public Works director, public schools and JPD are all pissed away in favor of marxist day dreams by aforesaid Mayor.

Councilman Aaron Banks needs to be ready with a strategy to become Mayor because Bo Luckey may give our little tyrant mayor a persuasive opportunity to resign.

I wonder if deppity pheel approves?

I figger veteran auditor stickering is still too busy enjoying all his newly found free time to have an opinion on whether there should be some notes attached to this friends and family announcement from the tater!

Anonymous said...

@Krusatyr
not even in the scope of his duties !

Anonymous said...

@ 5:58...He has a law degree and qualified immunity. Plus he's on a mission from Gubner Tater!

It's enough to issue a warning:

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS!!!!!!!!!

@6:06 Law Degree but isn’t admitted to the MS Bar ? Kenneth Stokes has a law degree but hasn’t been admitted to the MS Bar either. So are you saying We can expect the same leadership? If so, Jackson can get worse. A piece of paper and experience from the city of Brandon and pushing paper at the AGs office does not an effective Cleaner of the Jackson Crime Wave make.! I give him 90 days before the media, other agencies and Fondren and Bellhaven eat him alive. He has been set up
To fail .

I’ve spent 30 years in law enforcement. I see the Governor and Commisoner making an effort to fix a problem that needs to be addressed. Who else has brought a fresh idea to the table? Give Capital PD a year to 18 months to show what they can accomplish before sending hate mail. I don’t personally know Charles Haynes but I’ve only heard positive comments about his work. Good luck to all 3. I sincerely hope you do well.

Meanwhile...let it not be overlooked nor forgotten that Tater sent word that he needed the head of DWFP to go to the house and he left later that same week. No word on his replacement?

The Parks leg of DWFP long ago turned to shit under the watchful eye of the prior Agency Head and his do-nothing three commissioners. If Tater wants to gain any political traction out of this mess he better go ahead and announce somebody. And, PLEASE, no damned cowboy hats.

Anonymous said...

Charles Haynes is a quality individual. Good luck to him!

Anonymous said...

@7:12 Jackson doesn’t have 18 months to wait.

Anonymous said...

Sending best wishes to all three appointees. Bo Luckey will do a great job!

Former dog catcher for Brandon PD becomes Capitol Chief. Wow

8:04 - even though DWFP has nothing to do with this post, your comments are so off-base they deserve a response. The DWFP head was not sent to the house by Tater, but retired after having been there 30 years. He wanted to retire, and if he didn't the Governor doesn't have the authority to send him home - just ask Governor Musgrove who actually did try to do that some 20 years ago.

And the Governor doesn't get to hire the new director until a recommendation is made by the Commissioners; who conducted a nationwide search for a replacement. That search has just been completed with the results and recommendations now going to Tater. My bet is that you will get your desired 'quick appointment'..

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
