It appears the Mayor had quite a good time in Atlanta last weekend after the Celebration Bowl.
Some scolds Will have a problem with the Mayor having some fun, so yours truly went to the ultimate authority for a ruling.

WHAT...no mask!! I am shocked, shocked I say...
Mask up, right Mayor? Maybe you caught your cooties there.
Explains the covid.
requires a mask in all city owned buildings. cannot enter the door without it already in place. but once inside, workers (including mayor and his immediate staff) along with regular citizens remove those masks.
evidently he doesn't believe that those masks are as important as his being able to dictate to city employees, private business owners and patrons, his requirements. or else its simply what's good for thee doesn't apply to me.
but, who should be surprised at our little nero, who fiddles (or raps) while jackson is burning?
The no mask is the most telling, but I’d bet any other location and he would not have attended. Atlanta is a safe travel zone for Jackson area politicians. I love and miss Jackson but it’s leaders like him that are…
Next question - did the city pay for his travel & party expenses? Did he take his full security squad with him? He had no official role at the Celebration Bowl that I've heard about. Everything he spent on that trip should come out of his own pocket.
🤡 Mayor
Flunkie! Hahahahahaha.
Emailing a link to this JJ story to every member of the state legislature.
Will the frauds working for the Barksdalers and Ladd, Pittman, Judin, et al report on this completely irresponsible and reckless behavior? Where is Fat Melvin?
What is wrong with a dude in his mid 30's going to a bar?

Swag!
That the Georgia variant of covid.
He's doing a sorry ass job in Jackson but what's the big deal? Other politicians go out and party too. Nothing illegal or obscene here. He's probably more laid back than most. At least he's not drunk.
Do as I say, not what I do - motto of elitists everywhere.
so the mayor feels OK going out in Atlanta. lets see him do this in west jackson...or does he just want to hide in his gated community???
The Mayor has every right to go out and have fun. But not that on his taxpayer’s dime. It’s fair game for the council to ask to see his expense report or ask him directly next council meeting how the trip was paid for.
The Mayor should have attended the game at city expense. This was a major event for JSU & the City of Jackson. Do you think state officials attend state university events on their dime? Afraid not!
The problem here is not him traveling, having a drink in a nightclub, supporting JSU at their bowl game, or having a good time in general. It is the FACT that he has preached from City Hall that the general population should not do these things. And, he has regulated thru his Mayoral declarations that the general population can not do these things.
Of course, certain nightclub operators, living and not living, have been allowed to operate freely without any Covid restrictions
and with TOTAL disregard for liquor laws, etc. Where the hell is ABC enforcement!?!
I heard a rumor that members of the Mississippi legislature have been seen in bars in Jackson.
Jackson resident here and a Ole Miss alumni as well… I can’t imagine a situation where anyone attending a Mississippi state or Ole miss bowl game would accept city or state money while attending.
Ammo to use against him in any upcoming election.
Download now because this will be deleted soon.
Want to be Thug.
Every right to have fun and every right for Jacksonians to point out the rank hypocrisy of Lumumba's partying without a mask while forcing a mask mandate upon the city.
@6:47PM
You know him. He doesn’t know you. Think about that for a second.

Jonathan Allen doesn't live in Jackson.
Lots of comments here, too many to identify individually.
But a state official attending a STATE university event is not equivalent to a City official attending a STATE University event.
Personally, I think it is fine for him to have gone to Atlanta to watch the JSU ballgame. But not for his possee to all be paid to follow him, especially to his night(s) on the town, which I only assume they did - because he goes nowhere without his keepers watching to make sure he doesn't step off the kush pathway set by sister.
But his hypocrisy about his Jackson "mask mandate" matches that of his President's hypocrisy- what I require of thee doesn't apply to me. Just because his fellow Mayors don't require a mask in Hotlanta doesn't excuse him if he truly believes masks are critical to maintaining health standards. And he requires them here where he sets the rules and expects others to follow - because he said so. Obviously not because he believes it.
Emperor Mayor exposed as wearing no clothes again.

Best intentions? You're partying in near zero-feet proximity to others without a mask, that sort of 'best intentions'? Take your mandates and shove it Lumumba.
Im sure all of you guys are perfect, right?
If this thread shows anything, it shows that half of you are ready to foam at the mouth and pounce on any negativity towards Jackson and/or the Mayor at any given moment, even over a non-story (which this is).
One could be forgiven in thinking that the vitriol is largely over the fact that the mayor is a Democrat and the city swings blue. It’s almost like you guys are just as political as the politicians.
If this thread shows anything, ...
Blah, blah, blah, blah.
... even over a non-story (which this is).
Nope.
Head back to your Twitworld echo chamber.
Jonathan Allen does not live in the MS-04 Congressional District.
Non-story? NON-STORY? PPPlllleeeaassseee save that misdirection for the stupid asses would might be duped into believing that.
This is the politician who dogged Gov Reeves repeatedly for not instituting a statewide mask mandate. This is the same always preening fool who condemned Gov Reeves for not instituting a statewide school district mask mandate. This is the very politician who repeatedly demagogued Reeves and the State repeatedly in the national press (including that WaPo Crisis in Leadership total garbage) for not doing enough across the board to fight Covid.
Lumumba posed for the press every friggin' moment he could to puff up himself as some sort of big contemplative thinker relative to Covid. His own task force, his own medical advisors and reminding Jackson at every turn that he was in charge and following "the science" dogma.
Only cult apologists, bullshit artists and Lumumba's paid operatives would come forward at this point to say this is a non-story.
Marshand triple dog dared Chowke to stick his tongue to the stripper pole after Stacey Abrams finished her dance routine. Dummy!

Get off Chokwe’s nuts
Remember when wrong was just wrong? No matter if the person was black or white, Dem or Republican?
I have no problem with him partying. And I didn't suffer under his hypocritical mask mandates in Jackson.
But if you cant see the lunacy in this political pandemic theatre yet, you have the IQ of a brick.

Can't see nor hear #150 from Atlanta, right?
Jackistan hit the big 150 this afternoon. Statement from baby chowke in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, right? Or not, right?
Jackson murder projection @ rate now 153 YE 2021. If Grove Park body 151, projection would be 154 YE 2021.
What type of miserable people sit around and pray for murders?
