Words that begin with vowels (a,e,i,0,u) should be preceded by 'an', not 'a'.
The Jackson city council considering a youth curfew; how many times has this been done in the past? Will not work, unenforceable by an already overworked, under manned police department. At least Kenny Stokes is blaming the parents. Until black leaders begin truly promoting a strong family culture, meaning its not cool to have children out of wedlock, and the men in the black community being fathers to their children nothing will change.
Unfortunately the problems we are facing with crime are decades in the making and will it will take decades to change. The political leadership in this country over the last 60 years has failed us, but we only have ourselves to blame, Republicans,Democrats, whatever one’s political affiliation, we continue to vote the same individuals in to office. Until WE hold our elected officials responsible for creating programs to foster families nothing will change.
For now, the Justice system has to deal swiftly and firmly with the criminal elements in our community. But law enforcement alone cannot solve the problems alone. Hopefully black leaders will begin to address the root causes, until then……
4:33. the JPD have more pressing issues than grammar on a crime press release. like catching criminals that will get blessed by some judges. a mayor who could care less as he gets driven in his luxury automobile to and from his gated neighborhood and citizens who are either apathetic or frustrated by the crime rise.
the writer may not have a phd in english but they are on our side. we need to gather all who are sick of this and be on the same side and page…
The spelling police in Jackistan are more active than the real police.
Nothing much good happens on County Line Road, especially on the south side.
Why didn’t they report how many F150 Ford pickups were stolen.Do they seriously not know how to put together a sting operation. Call in the Safety Patrol!!!
A “killin” on west county line road (Jackson side). Maybe this was a ritual celebrating the completion of the county line road after decades in the works. Look guys, Jackson has already set the murder record for deaths during a calendar year, ease up
So, shootings and stabbings should be preceded by 'a' second thought.
I hope this young lady is ok. There isn't any scenario I cannot imagine where a shotgun blast at fairly close range isn't extremely bad. I lift her up in prayer.
sigh-
@4:33
Most here are sympathetic with your grammar preference, but article agreement requiring a choice between "a" and "an" is not a function of a digital fill-in-the-blank form that starts with "Jackson Police are investigating a _______" and ends with "succumbed...". Information is skimpy and reporting is a hurried nuisance, now that murders are as common as pot-holes in the Little Unclothed Emperor's "most radical city on the planet".
Nothing ever comes of any of this crap. Nothing changes. No paradigm shifts. At least we can hope some lieutenant with grammatical presence will emerge. Both Lieutenant Graham and Colendula Green could put a sentence together properly, but, alas...they saw the lights of Hollywood and moved on.
PS: If you can use the word succumbed in a sentence, you ought to know when to use A or AN.
Some Car jacking stats: 2020-2021- Chicago Up 44% Washington DC Up 45% New York Up 81%
If Jackson is serious about stopping CRIME they need to put in effect roving street checkpoints. No telling how many outstanding warrants, stolen vehicles & guns, Drugs, sex trafficking and illegals would be picked up. Jackson, just try it for a month! Peace on Earth & Goodwill to men!
Also, Good response 6:45 AM
Mayor just gave himself a raise !!! Come on JJ .....keep up.
@9:46, Bobby Harrison is not in favor of comparisons except, of course, when he actually make them himself.
9:46 please don't come up with facts on Dim-O-Krat utopias. The liberal progressives will say you're just picking on them
Last Friday was the tree lighting "featuring" the Emperor Mayor. Damn if it wasn't SRO in celebrants as the Imperial Family joined our Potentate as he threw the switch to light the tree.
Correction: I misspoke with the Mayor raises stuff and apologize to all and JJ.
@7:02 AM - It's "couldn't care less," not "could care less." You could use some grammar police oversight, big time.
I am not the offender but the 'could vs. couldn't care less' has never triggered me.
Yes, "Couldn't" is accurate in a literal sense.
But I always read "I could care less" in a sarcastic tone of voice so make it less nails-on-a-chalkboard.
That said, murder is the only valid reaction to misuse of "your" and "you're" so carry on.
Why can't we get the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton to preach to the citizens about accountability, parenting, and wedded bliss?
I always find it cute, if not offensive, when grown people use terms like 'triggered' and 'that said' while totally ignoring the rules of comma usage.
